Summary: Good replacement for a point and shoot
Review: I purchased this camera to replace a broken point and shoot Camera. I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pictures I am able to print from my HP Inkjet printer.

Summary: great little camera
Review: great camera, little price. CX4230 uses very affordable, widely available multimedia cards for storage and also has 16mb of internal memory! excellent quality photos, easy software, good battery life. Share idea is brilliant! (you take a picture, and immediately can tag it for emailing your friends...holds 32 email addresses in camera!)

Summary: Uses SD/MMC
Review: It should be noted that this Kodak camera, while not using CompactFlash or SmartMedia, the "usual" memory cards used in digicams, uses the smaller SD/MMC format. Those of you using the newer Palms will recognize this memory format, as it is the same memory used in the newer Palms (including the m5xx, m125, m130, and m700s)BTW, I'm not a kid, I just didn't want to register.

Summary: Boo hiss. Kodak should know better
Review: I bought this camera and returned it almost immediately when I found out that it uses a new format of memory chip. I have invested in lots of "compact flash" cards which work with older Kodak digital cameras and are available cheap online at Amazon. But now Kodak's new format is an overpriced, only slightly smaller chip that - what a surprise - isn't available from third parties. Kodak should not take advantage of loyal customers this way. - signed, Robertson Adams, Miami, Fla.

Summary: Great Camera - Fun, Fun, Fun
Review: I received this camera as a gift and I have not been dissapointed since. You can print large pictures (up to 15" x 22"), I didn't realize this at first but when I found out, I was very happy. I figure I could make wonderful posters someday. I usually print up to 8" x 10" with excellent results. With the right paper and injets the colors are so vibrant and beautiful and the picture quality is superb. It's very easy to use and I love the "EasyShare" software that comes with it. This camera allows you to view your photographs on your computer or on your televison. How cool is that? That's a great feature you'll want to use in case you go on a trip. That way, you can have fun, create your own slide show and share your photos with your friends and family. I also like the weight of the camera. It fits comfortably in your hands. So, if you want a fairly inexpensive digital camera with great results, this is the camera for you.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA
Review: I bought this camera during 2002 Black Friday Sale. After one year of regular use (no more than 20 times of use), it stopped to power on. I tried different rechargable battery (including Kodak recommended) and even recharges, but still no good. It has one year warranty, but it stopped working right after one year.

Summary: Great pictures, but slow shutter and poor batteries
Review: This is a really tough little camera and is great for vacation pictures. I just throw it in my bag and go--I've even dropped it a few times with no loss of function. I have blown up many of my photos to 8x10 and they still look great--even with some of the images cropped. However, there are some down sides. It sucks up batteries like they're going out of style. I had no luck with the lithium batteries that came with it and now use (ick) lots of disposables. Also, the shutter speed is slow. This problem can be lessened somewhat by holding down the button halfway while framing the shot, then pushing down all the way to take a picture.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS THING!!
Review: I bought this camera quite a while ago, based on the assumption that it was a good entry level digital camera for a beginner.
Here are the major problems I encountered with it:
- It sucks batteries like you cannot even imagine
- The colors are aweful (it looks like there is some magenta shift on the whole spectrum)
- The software is a real piece of junk!!
On the last point (software):
- The CD provided in the box just plain cannot be installed on a standard Windows PC.
- I tried to download an update for my Windows XP laptop and Kodak would like me to install their "easyshare" software on top of the driver. They give the option of not installing it (which is perfect for people who want to use another digital imaging software instead of theirs). However, when I select the "driver" only, it just doesn't work. I rebooted my PC, because we all know Windows is always moody when you install a new driver, but it still cannot see my camera.
Conclusion:
- I cannot connect my camera to my PC.
- Kodak cameras just suck. You cannot install their driver (it looks like their installer program is downloading mountains of data, just to install a small driver).
- The image quality is ridiculous.
- It costs a lot of money to replace batteries so often.
- Don't buy a Kodak camera. Go with the Japanese (Canon and the likes). The other guys know what they are doing.

Summary: horrible quality images- eats batteries like crazy!!!!!
Review: All of these Kodak Easyshare cameras seem to have the same problem with horrible image processing. Colors look good but the compression is atrocious. If I use the "2-megapixel" image as my computer wallpaper (~1megapixel) there is a great deal of JPEG artifacting evident. These images are OKAY to print as 3.5" x 5" prints but not much larger. Even 4"x6" prints start to show artifacting and noise. As if it isn't bad enough to have poor images, the camera also eats 2 AA batteries for every 35 images captured!!! I have to bring a pack with extra batteries everywhere I take my camera!

Summary: Decent, but with quite a few problems
Review: I got this camera for Christmas in 2002. At first I thought it was great. The colors were wonderful and the camera was easy to use. But after nearly a year of use, I'm beginning to change my mind. I have the camera dock, but have it hooked up to only one of my computers. I've tried interfacing the camera with my laptop just through the USB cable and can never get it to work. The software simply says it cannot detect the camera. I've had similar issues using the dock, but eventually get it to work (I have Win 98). The dock also seems to have problems charging the battery. It says the battery is fully charged, yet when I go to use the camera, it flashes the low battery symbol and shuts off. I've resorted to using regular alkaline batteries, but of course that's a more expensive option. And the most annoying issue so far is that when I shut the camera off, the lens cover does not close. The lens retracts and the camera shuts off, but the cover stays open. Today I had to turn the camera on and off about 15 times before the lens cover closed. Now I'm afraid to turn the camera back on. Also, under flourescent lights, this camera gets colors all wrong.
