Summary: Not a best choice for this price
Review: ... Compared to the Fuji camera, Olympus Brio D-230 is not a good one. The picture quality is not very good, especially when you take photos in not very bright environment. However, the pictures taken by Fuji are very good and real. The digital zoom is not a good choice either. Another bad property of this camera is its low battery life.
I returned this item because it didn't meet my expection.

Summary: 5 stars, if you know a little about digitals vs batteries!
Review: Being totally new to digital cameras, I thought it was my fault that the batteries went dead before I could even get it set up. I put in new ones. Dead again in a couple of hours! Perhaps I wasn't keeping the lens cover closed. Two more batteries. Kept lens cover closed and monitor off except sparingly. Dead again! THEN I read comments from others. A person from Pueblo, Colorado wrote in caps..."NO DIGITAL CAMERA DOES WELL WITH ALKALINE BATTERIES! Use lithium or rechargable NiMhd." BINGO! Thanks, person in Pueblo! WONDERFUL CAMERA! Clear, concise pictures. For a relative beginner, with a small pocketbook, the perfect camera. But, fledgelings should be made aware of the battery problem. The folks at Olympus should tell us these facts. We shouldn't have to get aggrivated at the camera before we find out.

Summary: Fantastic camera
Review: Fantastic camera. My first digital camera and I couldn't have made a better choice. Easy to and easy to UNDERSTAND! Pay no attention to unfriendly words about the 230. It is in a nutshell. Inexpensive, user friendly and takes a GREAT picture with eyepopping clarity and detail.

Summary: Good Buy
Review: For 2 megapixels, you really get a good deal at this price. The image quality is excellent and the menus are quite user friendly. You should get rechargeable batteries for this camera, but you can cut down on the batter drain by not using the monitor to take every picture. It's worth it for anyone interested in making the leap to digital without taking a huge hit in the pocket.

Summary: Great camera, Great price
Review: Having owned an Olympus 35mm camera which takes great pictures and a so-so cheapo Hewlett Packard digital camera, I bought this one and it is a great camera. It has a lot of features for the price. With the 2.1 megapixels you can take photos that blow up to 8X10. It is very small and easy to use. I bought a bigger memory card and rechargable Nimh batteries for it. Wasn't too happy that the optional 110 adaptor from Olympus cost me 80 bucks. Open the lens cover and it turns the camera on. Takes great pictures. You can buy a better camera but why? This one does it all. Takes macros and even will make a 60 second Quickplayer video. Buy it.

Summary: Perfect for a Casual User
Review: I am not a heavy picture taker and had only been using disposibles. I had been unhappy with the photo quality of disposibles and had been scanning in the few good ones to email anyways. So when I saw a price break on this one, I grabbed it and haven't looked back. I absolutely love the ease of picture taking and transfer. The pictures are beautiful and it is just point and click. Because the camera is so small, I wind up having it in my purse most of the time anyways, so I'm taking so many more pictures than ever before. I don't feel guilty taking any picture that I want, b/c there's no cost involved with bad pictures, just delete them from the card. Two accessories I would recommend you would also buy:
1. a bigger card than the 16mb included (I purchased a 128 mb); and
2. rechargeable batteries....it makes it really cost free!

I highly recommend this for the casual users. There are a lot more features for it I have yet to avail myself of....but look forward to doing so!

Summary: Nice camera, good price, excellent for beginners
Review: I chose the D230 for ease of use and low price and Olympus quality. This camera has met my expectations.

There are only a couple of improvements I would like to see. The LCD monitor is about useless in the bright sun (most are) but the view finder works well in this situation. There is also no battery meter other than a low battery indicator.

It's a sturdy camera with a nice feel. Small, lightweight, and compact. For 2MP it takes great quality pictures with little or no effort. If your looking for a great camera for point and shoot ease of operation you may want to look into this one.

I purchased mine on eBay from Olympus America for $81.00.
