Summary: Good camera for the price
Review: I purchased mine through eBay for a good price and I'm satisfied with it. It has a nice optical AND digitial zoom, fits snugly in your hand, has good accessories, and I like the XD Picture card! You can buy a card for this camera with up to 256 MB of memory (which is a LOT!). The software that comes with the camera is easy to use, and in fact, the camera itself has very simple instructions and is easy to use. Another option: you can make video w/ SOUND. Most digital camera dont carry this option. The quality in video is what you can expect from a digital camera however. I recommend this camera for someone who wants to have an almost professional camera that is very easy to use with a nice price tag.

Summary: Absolute Best Buy!
Review: I got this camera for Christmas, and I'd have to say it exceeded my expectations. You can buy cheaper 3.2 megapixel cameras, but not with a 6x zoom. I have friends who own Kodaks and Canons of similar mp size and this camera beats them hands down. First of course, you get the zoom, second, it uses tiny Xd chips(not SD compact flash or memory sticks)which are state of the art (read "fast").

Optically, there is some barrel distortion at the widest setting, but otherwise fine. The exposure system is extremely accurate, and the color rendition excellent. This camera is also fairly miserly with the batteries, but too bad it didn't come with Rayovac NiMh rechargeables (a good addition).

Picture quality is better than most 35mm point and shoot cameras, but not quite at SLR level - yet!

When someone comes out with a 5mp camera with a 6x zoom that fits in an Altoids can, I'll buy a new one - but not until then!!

Summary: Great product but horrific customer service
Review: It's a great camera for the price but you better hope you didn't get a defective camera, good luck trying to get help from Fuji. Their support and customer service is horrible. I sent mine back to Fuji for repairs b/c WinXP does not recognize it and have not heard from them in 2 weeks. I highly recommend buying extended warrantly if available.

Summary: A Great Choice
Review: I labored over the decision of what camera to buy. If you're reading this, you're probably exactly where I was. There seems to be negative comments about every camera out there and the Fujifilm FinePix 3800 is no exception. But let me tell you that the negatives aren't enough to weigh this camera down in my opinion.

The bad: the viewfinder is tough to use in low-light (but it's not THAT bad), that's all, that's only downer

The Good: it's easy to use, different modes for different users, shutter speed is quick (you won't miss the action), image quality is excellent (I don't know what people are complaining about here - I've printed 8x10s that look fantastic!), 6x zoom.

In my opinion, it's a great choice. Every camera has it's problems. There's no perfect one out there unless you're going to spend 4 figures. So, for the rest of us, I think this is a great camera.

Summary: Perfect camera for 2003!
Review: After much research, I settled on the FinePix 3800. I have no regrets, this is my second digital camera and it is amazeingly easy and fun to use. The 64MB xD picture card is tiny and holds enough fine quality photos for a typical event or trip. The 6X optical zoom is the best available in the price range, and this is a very important feature.

Summary: Excelent camera
Review: I just bought one of these a little while ago. It takes excelent pictures, it's easy to use, feels great in the hands, and is a good value. I also have to say that the xD card storage media is about the best I've seen, It's faster and possibly most important, smaller than any other media.

Summary: What an Awesome Camera!
Review: I love this camera. I've owned it since last christmas and I have had SO much fun with it. The pictures have been great. I go back to the instruction book a lot, not because it's a difficult camera, but because the camera can do so much and reviewing the instructions has been a great way to refresh my memory on it's capabilities. The XD card it comes with is small, but I found that I downloaded the pictures so frequently that it didn't matter (I didn't ever run out of space). I've gotten a larger XD card since then (64) and have yet to run out of space with it. The batteries have lasted quite a while (I still haven't gotten a set of rechargeables) and I don't feel that I've gone through a "ton" of batteries. However, even when I'm out taking pictures (mostly of my dogs), I'm careful to shut it off when I'm not using it (a habit I got into with my film camera). The lens cap, while it doesn't seem to fit all that tightly, works great for me. Again, I'm SOOO careful with this camera (it was TOO much money not to handle with GREAT care) that keeping the lens cap on (and out of my pictures cuz I keep it on that little leash thing-y) hasn't been hard to do. Bottom line-this is a great camera and worth the money.

Summary: impressive images for a good price
Review: I just bought this camera as a replacement for my Nikon 775 which I really liked, but its battery housing broke. This camera, nearly a year later, is the same price I paid last year for a 2.1 MP camera (ah, technology) and takes fabulous photos. I had read about its difficulties in indoor or low light situations, so this weekend I took it on a pretty good test of lighting conditions: a trip to the Gila Cliff Dwellings in New Mexico, where I shot in bright outdoor, dark indoor (cave interiors), from within caves facing outward, and all variety of different situations. I found that it performed magnificently in all but the very lowest of lighting, and in these instances would have been fine if I had used a tripod. I used both auto and manual settings and played around a lot to see how it would perform (and in doing so, whether I would keep the camera) and I was quite impressed. My only dissatisfaction about this camera is that the lens cap is extremely inadequate and I would not consider transporting the camera anywhere without my bag because it simply will not stay in place. Otherwise, it is compact and sturdy, uses standard AAs (nice if my rechargables die on a trip where I didn't pack the charger), and the 128 MG card I bought will take over 200 images on the highest resolution settings. Overall, a great buy for the price.

Summary: This is a great camera.
Review: First of all the camera is extremely easy to use. I think I spent about 5 minutes with the directions before I was off taking pictures. You will need to get a larger memory card if you plan on taking this on trips. I am using a 128mb card right now and I have yet to fill it up! Battery life is great. The only downside has been mentioned in other reviews. The electronic viewfinder goes black in low light conditions. So if you are taking flash photos in the dark you have to wing it. For 99% of the pictures you take this will not be a problem. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking to get into digital photography.

Summary: EXCELLENT BUY FOR BEGINNERS
Review: I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA IN ST'THOMAS LIKE AN OFFER AND IS AN EXCELLENT CAMERA FOR THE PRICE. YOU GOT A 6X OPTICAL ZOOM, 3.2 MEGAPIXELS LIKE NO OTHER AND WHEN YOU COMPARE IT TO THE CAMEDIA THE RESOLUTION IS VERY SUPERIOR.
I SUGGEST YOU TO BUY IT WITH A BETTER XD PICTURE CARD, I MEAN AT LEAST A 64MB MEMORY CARD. AND BY THE WAY BUY ALSO AN EXTRA SET OF AA RECHARGEABLES NIMH BATTERIES PREFERIBLE 1800 MAH.
THE CONS. ARE THE FUNNY PLASTIC CAP AND THE DIFICULT TO GET PHOTOS IN LOW LIGHT. THAT IS BECAUSE IT ONLY HAS ISO 100...
