Rating: Summary: Fuji FinePix 1400 Failure Review: I purchased the camera Jan 2001. It worked great until the on/off function switch developed an intermittent problem. Also, the USB cable connector on the body has worn and must be clamped to download pictures. The camera is no longer useful. The repair from Factory Service is going to cost $100.+ This is not acceptable for this product. I will never buy another Fuji with its cheap parts that wear out.
Rating: Summary: nice camera..poor support Review: I purchased this camera 3 weeks ago. I love it. But if you if you need support from fuji, forget it! i called them 6 times only to get a recording and wait for as long as you like. I never did get to speak to a real live person. I had a problem getting my data to transfer from the camera to my pc. I finally played with it enough to figure it out on my own. So far so good! Everything works great! Good quality pics. The only thing that disapointed me is the lack of accessaries. the least Fuji could do is throw in a case. Can't have everything i guess.
Rating: Summary: Cheap Construction Review: I purchased this camera based on the glowing reviews. The picture quality is good but the quality is sub par and shoddy. The lens cover jammed. Once that was resolved, the focus jammed and the lens will no longer focus. As far as I am concerned, Fuji Digital products are not value for money and cheap construction that are in the same category as similar sub par cameras made in China. Very disappointing and did not live up to the Made in Japan reputation. Sorry, I am disappointed. Just my two cents. If you are looking for a disposable camera good for about a year maybe, Fuji Digicams fit the bill, otherwise stay awayl
Rating: Summary: A best buy item Review: I read a lot of reviews and also some background info on digital cameras. I bought this camera for the features and price. Actually, it is a little more complicated than I wanted because I'm not a techno junkie. It takes great pictures and is quite compact. I also bought the Kodak rechargeable batters and charger, a 32mb smartmedia card, and a case logic brand case. The software was easy to install except you have to search to find the Adobe photodelux pgm. I did have to get usb ports installed ... I thought that would be better than having to buy a card reader. The transfer from camera to pc is fast, but with the included software, you have to save each picture individually while the camera is running. Instead, I learned to do it via My Computer by selecting all, copying all files, and pasting to a folder of my choice. I would like to get a card reader, but I need to find a reliable one without problems. In summary, the Fujifilm 1400 is a great entry-level camera. We bought it over the 1300 because of the lens cover.
Rating: Summary: Easy to use Review: I received my Fuji in time for Christmas. Thank goodness I bought extra batteries because this puppy went through the batteries that came with it after 4 shots. I imagine the batteries were about out of juice right out of the box. This is simply a very easy camera to use and the quality of pix is very good.
Rating: Summary: Long way to get there! Review: I recently decided to investigate digital photography. My usual methodology when trying something new is to read everything I can get my hands on and then take the plunge. So, starting with the fact that I have a 6 year old Dell desktop running Windows 95, I upgraded to Windows 98 and added a D-Link two slot USB card. Then, after comparing features and quality against price, I chose the FugiFilm FinePix 1400. So far, I think it's a good choice. I was concerned there might be hardware/software installation problems because my USB was not factory installed but everything went smoothly. I'm really impressed with the simple straightforward ease of taking pictures and the picture quality. My desire is to overcome that feeling of disappointment when you get your pictures back from Walmart and they're not what you expected. Digital is instant! If you don't get the picture you want, shoot it again and erase the first one. Very efficient.
Rating: Summary: Good Entry Level Camera! Review: I recently purchased the FinePix 1400z and overall have been pleased. It is very simple to operate and has a very clean design. There is only one drawback to this camera. The LCD screen is useless when used outdoors. The LCD screen is so dim that it is impossible to view what you have taken a picture of. It is a great indoor camera, but out-of-doors you must use the viewfinder and hope for the best.
Rating: Summary: Field tested Fuji 1400 Review: I use this camera weekly in nightclub settings and it does the job pretty well overall. Pro's - Very easy to transfer files via USB, the LCD screen is clear but a little small, flash is strong, auto levels work well, the normal 640x480 setting captures 40-50 pictures that look really good, perfect for my web site doublefunkcrunch.com, auto-formats for jpeg and has a resize function to 320 after the picture is taken at 640 or higher, viewfinder zooms with the zoom in function. Rechargebable AA batteries work well on a day PER day basis, has good popular features. Con's - Lens cover is weak. This is a problem because opening the cover also activates the camera and camera lens. If the cover begins to close shut, the camera turns off which is very confusing to unfamiliar users. The camera's powersave mode turns on too soon, forcing you to turn it off and back on again which gets very annoying. After you take a picture, the LCD does not cache the image long enough to see it forcing you to switch the camera mode to playback. In semi-dark rooms, you must use the viewfinder because the LCD is not bright enough to see the subject. Does not perform well in low light moderate speed situations without the flash. I wish it did because my subjects are usually lit with colored stage lights which the built in flash washes out. If I don't use the flash, the image is blurred and out of focus.
Rating: Summary: A good midrange digital camera, but not very intuitive Review: I'd been using my old Olympus digital camera for two years, but decided to upgrade to a digital camera with zoom and USB. The FinePix takes gorgeous photos in a range of resolutions and has worked out quite well so far. However, the interface is not very intuitive - there's no quick and easy way to find out how many photos you have remaining and information along those lines. It does suck batteries - much more quickly if you use the LCD - so investing in a set of rechargeable batteries is a good idea. The included 4MB card is pretty much worthless too, so you'll definitely want to get a bigger card unless you want to download your pictures every few shots. Overall: nice size, comfortable grip, sharp zoom and high quality images. Poor interface, but I can get over that since transferring the images to my computer is incredibly fast. :)
Rating: Summary: Very good and easy to use. Review: I'm very happy with this camera. It is very easy to use and takes great pictures. It only took me a few minutes of playing with the buttons to figure out how to use all of the important features. The picture quality is great. I opted to save money and stick with a 1.3MP camera because most reviews stated that there wasn't much advantage to 2MP and up unless you were going to print at 8x10. Highest res shots (1280x960) printed beautifully as 5x7 on an HP 970 printer. Very easy to install the USB connection. Images transfer very quickly. The main reason I selected this over the Olympus 360 was the USB connection. I opted for rechargeable batteries up front because so many other reviews recommend using them. I also got a 32MB smartmedia card to up the capacity at highest res and quality from 6 with the supplied 4MB card to 50 shots. The main ease of use issue is the placement of the zoom control button on the back of the camera. It's hard to adjust when composing a shot through the viewfinder. Also, the self timer doesn't work with the manual exposure override--probably not a big issue for most users. When using a point and shoot camera without a remote shutter release, I like to use the self-timer in low light situations to help prevent camera shake during the exposure.
