Summary: Beware
Review: This camera breaks down like an old car. The power will stay on when you turn it off and it has pretty flimsy buttons, I own a Nikon CoolPix 880 and it blows it out of the water.

Summary: Piece of junk!
Review: Do not buy this camera! The batteries die in less that one set of 36 pictures. The quality is poor even on the highest setting. Don't compare megapixels, there is a difference in image quality between cameras of the same resolution. The flash takes almost a minute to charge sometimes. And it shuts off after taking a picture. mine is a combination of defects and poor design. It's going back. I made the mistake of thinking I could get a digital camera for $200. You have to spend $500 to get a decent one which is just too much for the mass market right now.

Summary: value for money
Review: For the price its a pretty good unit. I only got it two weeks ago and am still learning the ins and outs of taking photos with it but friends are pleased with the photo quality. The accompanying software is pretty good when you get used to it. HP do not suggest using rechargeables because when fully charged rechargeables can produce higher levels of power than Alkalines, which can in turn affect its circuitry. This problem can be overcome by using rechargeable Alkalines like the "grandcell" batteries. i guess the only think its missing is an optical zoom, but for amateur photographers its a good deal at the moment.

Summary: STAY AWAY!!
Review: Very simply, I am now waiting for my third replacement camera and I have only had it for three months. I only use it at home for low resolution Internet images. I am a photographer and also built my computer from scratch. It shoudn't be too difficult. One suggestion they had was that I should not use the software they supplied with the camera. Hello? Otherwise, they have had no solutions. They do however keep sending replacement cameras. What a waste of time, money, and telephone toll charges. No more Hewlett Packard!

Summary: THIS IS WONDERFUL
Review: I bought me one of these last month, and it works lot better than any camera i seen. For the price, it is a steal. It is a battery hog, but if you buy some rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydrides, depending on what brand, will cost around 17$ for 4. They are rechargable over a thousand times, and i was able to go about over 2 weeks of near constant use before they went dead ONCE. They were only partially charged when i put them in, amazing. That is the best bet as far as power goes. Wonderful resolution, easy to use, definately a good camera.

Summary: Great camera, minor drawbacks
Review: I purchased this camera about 3 weeks ago and I haven't had any trouble with it yet. The camera functions and the included software are easy to use. It is basically "idiot proof." The picture quality comes out nice even on the "normal" setting.

The only drawback about this camera is the fact that it eats batteries like a starved animal. However, battery life can be prolonged with the LCD off and with the purchase of an AC adapter.

Summary: Okay, Well, Not Really
Review: I just bought this thing about a month ago and I'm pretty disappointed. As cheap as it is, its not that great, and I'm entry level. The included software isn't too hot, and the picture quality is pretty bad, because you can't size the picture size in the included software. The pictures come out "splotchy" as if the pixels were enlarged. In my opinion, I think it would be better to save another hundred bucks and buy a better camera.

Summary: Rechargeable batteries
Review: I just bought this camera a few months ago. The salesman sold me rechargeable batteries and a recharger with it. So, as you can imagine, I was unhappy when I read in the instruction booklet not to use rechargeable batteries with it. I called HP (long-distance)and they didn't seem to know why not. The manual doesn't really say why not, either. So I used them anyway. The camera works great with them. I'm not aware of any safety issue they are talking about. The pictures are pretty good. I haven't noticed any difference between fine and super fine. The camera is simple to use for a beginner like me. I bought a Scan Disk card reader to download my pictures to my PC with and feel it is worth the extra money for the ease of use and convenience. I do think the camera package could have better photo software with it to use. But all and all I am happy so far with the camera and love emailing pictures to my friends who think they are clear and compliment me on them. When printing them I think they came out really good.

Summary: What you see, is not what you get!
Review: I see your point of conserving on battery power, but if you turn off the LCD you are gambling with the final "Framing" of the photo. I tried NOT using the LCD and after downloading the photo's, I saw that the pictures had magicly moved to the right and to the bottom a bit. I had to over correct for this and it became a guessing game that I did not enjoy playing! I had seen pictures from my brother that bought the 315 from HP and I decided to exchange my 215 for the 315 Camera. Now, I have never used the LCD and every shot is perfectly Framed! I felt like I hit the Jackpot!! The 215 is a very good camera for the price, but the 315 is a better value at only $100 more. 400 pictures from a single set of Eveready Titanium batteries!! WhoooHooo!!!

Summary: AC option
Review: It is recommended to get the ac adapter. where do you get it? Besides hp for 49$$
