Rating: Summary: Great Camera for the price. Review: I was amazed at the quality. I was almost scared because the price was lower then most of the digital camcorders out there. I have been searching for so long for the right camera. And I found it. I constantly use my camera both video and stills. On average I have used my camera about 2-3x's a week since I bought it in April of 02. I have used Sony & Panosonic cass. and have had no problem. The quality of the videos are amazing I have had friends amazed at the quality of the zoom especially for the price I paid. The stills are a grainy quality in the dark areas but in full day light a great quality. And upload to computer really fast with no problems at all. I am not fully aware of all the technical garble but as for what I wanted it to do which is to tape family and friends get togethers and special events so I don't miss a moment and have tapes to send back east to family and friends in great quality, and it does all that and more with no problem.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Camera Review: I searched for months for the perfect video camera, and this was it. It has every feature I wanted except the external light, which isnt necessary since it can record very well with cats eye in total darkness. I never had a pixellation problem, and I used Panasonic miniDV tapes. I've had this camera for about 5 months, and just recently it started having a problem. When I put a tape in, it says "Eject the Cassette" and will not play or record a tape. ... Also, it would be nice if the camera were about half the size, and had microphone output.
Rating: Summary: Solid performance -- excellent price Review: I purchased a WD450U to videotape our wedding celebration. The results were excellent. The zoom microphone captured the audio very well (from a distance). Picture quality was great (the camcorder features Canon optics, which is highly desirable). Reliability has been good too (the camcorder survived our honeymoon in Hawaii with flying colors). When I attached it to my laptop's firewire port Windows XP instantly recognized it. I was able to produce great quality digitally captured movies of the wedding for guests that weren't able to attend in person. Overall, a great buy. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Great VIDEO Camera Review: ... to be honest, the still mode isn't anything more than an 'extra' for this video camera. If you need clear, crisp, easy to work with digital photos, buy a digital still unit in tandem with this or another video unit. As far as the rest of the package goes - superb! No technical glitches at all so far (with around 15 hours of use) and the video image is fantastic. One other note of interest that has been touched on here: the microphone. If you are put off by the way it looks, just be aware that the sound quality provided is far superior to the garden variety camcorder 'mic'. This camera is very very small, but NOT a micro cam. Light and easy to handle, the controls are small but very manageable. After using the unit for an hour, I could zoom, start/stop record, etc without looking away from (either) viewfinder.
Rating: Summary: Don't buy it !!! Review: I used to like Sharp before I bought this. I only used it 4 times for about 2 hours total. Still pictures at 1/2Megapixcels is not worth anything these days. From day one, playback sometimes broke up. After 6 months, all I got is 50% broken pictures, and I only playback 3 times. The quality isn't as good as VHS (go figure). I planned to make Dvd discs of my video and it's not worth the VHS tape. It only gets 3 months coverage on labor so I don't think it's worth anything to fix. Reliability [is terrible], picture quality [is terrible], even my VHS cam gets much better outcome without the broken pictures. It will be the last thing I buy from Sharp. I just threw [my money] out of the door, just like that.
Rating: Summary: RTFM... and all is fine. Review: When my wife and I started looking for a camcorder, we did a LOT of research on-line. We read reviews from other consumers, audio/video magazines, the vendors, etc... I believe we were well equipped to make an informed buying decision. When we found the Sharp D450U, it was considerably cheaper than similarly equipped cameras ... Our biggest concern though was that we had read numerous consumer reviews (some here on Amazon.com) that said the D450U's low-light recording capabilities were inferior to other cameras. We purchased the D450U anyways. So as to avoid rambling on needlessly, I will simply state that the D450U has worked as advertised in every regard. Our *only* beef with the D450U has been its still-camera performance in low-light situations -- NONE of the other complains expressed by other consumers (such as poor playback quality, bad low-light recording quality, etc.) have been experienced. We read the manual, followed the instructions, and are as happy as clams. The VLWD450U is a great camera ... , its a heck of a buy!
Rating: Summary: Sharp VLWD450U MiniDV Digital Camcorder Review: It does everything I wanted a digital camcorder to do. With a tripod, it's fantastic at this price! The stills are better than my old digital camera and I can still read the card easily. The pictures I capture off video are great and I can connect directly to a VCR and record or playback.
Rating: Summary: cool Review: It's easy to use if you fully read the manual. If you also buy one dlink card(including cable), u can transfer your video to the computer quickly. The 26x and the optical len is good!
Rating: Summary: Major Dissapointment Review: I went into this thinking that I would not be affected by the dreaded "pixel problem." In a nutshell, it worked great during the first week. I purchased the TDK tapes to ensure that there were not going to be any problems. I recorded about 45 minutes over seven days and played the tape back several times over the same time period. There were no problems at that time. It was not until I recorded something that was very important that things went screwy. I started getting a red X flashing in the display. I found out after recording that the X means that the heads are clogged. Clogged after just 45 minutes of recording...amazing. It was at this poing that the playback got so pixelated that the image was unrecognizable. After reading the reviews here I purchased a head cleaning tape and even that made no difference. I returned the camcorder and purchased the Canon ZR45 MC. I was able to play the tapes back in that camcorder with no problem. Trust me...it is not worth the risk. The feel of this camcorder is very cheap. The 26X zoom was my biggest motivation in this purchase. Obviously, the cost of an item has somewhat of a bearing on the overall quality. This product should be recalled. It is a known defect. Buy anything else. The difference in price is worth the difference in aggrevation.
Rating: Summary: Sharp VLWD450U Digital Camcorder Review: Its a good value for the kinda money you pay.I shud say better than anyother brand for the clarity and cost.
