Rating: Summary: Joy to my world! Review: A short comment -- I have no disagreement with the other reviewers. People should consider that this camera does not have audio input jacks, a fact that may be a problem for some applications. I own one and am hoping that someone will come up with a way to hook in through the zoom mic jack, but until then there are no audio input jacks.

Rating: Summary: Whoa man... Review: After 2 years of extensive research and procastination, i decided to purchase the optura 100mc. It had everything, including incredible image quality. But there was one company i did not check. that was rca. So i went to [another online company], and checked out what they had. Behold!! there it was, the CC9390. so i looked at the price, and specs and bought it. the MSRP was 1599. I got it for [a good price]. I waited, and it came. And then we fell in love. We danced, we sang, and we made passionate love. On a more serious note, the RCA has the best, and the most, features, equal quality as compared to the optura 100MC, for 500 less.it has a 16 meg card included for pictures. A reader is included. It has a awesome light, illuminates nicely. Now for the kick ass features. During my son's bday party, it was dark in the room. Alas, i flipped on the Infrared NightVision. [it looked like the baghdad in the persian gulf war, but hey, you could see, and it was ok quality] if u dont like the LCD, take it off. an ext. cable is included. [3.5" Detachable, TOUCH-SCREEN LCD ] 400X digital zoom. use it as a telescope!!! Auto Iris -- Allows the camcorder to automatically adjust the amount of light that is let in through the lens to compensate for extremes in lighting conditions. im still discovering new things.. when we went on vacations, my son taped a dvd onto the mini dv..[took 2 tapes], and watched it in the car...the camera has a speaker. the next day, i almost took out my wife's eye with the 5x zoom mic [no joke] the mic takes out noise. Guess what...America just beat Japanese technology!!! Surprise Surprise!!!
Rating: Summary: RCA CC9390 Digital Camcorder - Awesome for Price and Pixels Review: I agree 100% with the other reviewers regarding this camcorder. I do have a few additional things to cover. About the still pics - It is only a 1.3 mega pixel camera and therefore, you should not expect high resolution pictures. However, it is great to snap a couple of pictures while you're out shooting excellent digital video. In my opinion, it takes great still pics for web posting, email, and possibly 3x5 prints. Anything larger in print would be pushing it. Use a good photo editing software and a decent photo printer and you should be fine with the smaller prints. I wouldn't recommend buying this if you are expecting outstanding digital photos. Buy a digital camera for that purpose. Keep in mind that in order to take excellent digital video you do not need a 5 or 6 mega pixel camorder since the video image is constantly moving. On the other hand, you need the higher pixel count for excellent stills. RCA brands a lot of it's products that are actually made by nother companies. Most of their camcorders are manufactured by JVC or Sharp. The battery that fits this camcorder has a Sharp model number on another web site. This particular model is exclusive to RCA though. In all of my research I was not able to find another one that looks identical or has the detachable LCD. Some other less expensive models from RCA look identical to JVC. Check out there products on their web sites. I've owned and tried out numerous camcorders over the last 10 years including Sony, Canon, JVC and RCA. The best camcorder that I ever owned was an old RCA (JVC clone) in a VHS format....he quality was not the same. So I returned it and bought a JVC. That one was better but still not as good as the old RCA. After a couple of years Sony came out with it's new line that included a photo button on it's Hi 8 models. I was taken by the hype and bought one. IT was not digital and only recorded shaky stills onto the tape. I kept that one mostly for the looks if nothing else. The video on the Sony was not all great but was good enough to get me by. The JVC and RCA were far better. A few months ago I tried another RCA digital camcorder (another JVC clone) that recorded good video. Better than the Sony but still not as good as my old RCA and JVC models. I didn't keep it because I decided that I wanted something with a higher resolution. After more research I thought I would give the CC9390 a try. That was the one. The increased pixels and CCD size really made the difference. Now I have a camcorder that takes better video than my old VHS RCA and I can upload the video to my computer for editing and make really nice home movies that rival a professionally made movie. now that's cool! Overall - this camcorder is excellent and an awesome buy with a nice "instant" camera feature.

Rating: Summary: Expensive ...but you get what you pay for Review: I bought mine recently, and found it very easy to use. While not stated on this site, i was happy to see that this camcorder (with a 1.3mega pixel ccd) could produce still images at 1280x960, however compared to my 1.3 mega pixel Olympus D-460Z digital camera the picture seems grainy due to the fact that the CCD on the 9390 is non-progressive scan, though it is better than some of the others i have seen. The 400x digital zoom works very well compared to the JVC and Canon i tested. The ergonomics seem well thought through, as overall button placement is good(except for the placement of the night-vision/IR button).
One of the it's advanced features(and practical)is the detachable touchscreen LCD.The Autofocus and Autoshot features are very nice and for the most part work well.
The 5 builtin digital effects are adequate for most needs--though very minimal-- and more can be done with software. Which raises my next problem, there is no included video editing software, however, MacOS9/X and WinXP users should not have any issues here, and Linux users like myself can use Broadcast2000, MainActor or Kino. Overall, buy this for it's excellent video Capabilities but don't expect great still images. ...
Rating: Summary: Joy to my world! Review: I just got this camera. I am a novice at digital video, so I am reading Rubin's "little digital video book", and as per his tutilage, I made my first video of my bedroom using this gem of a camera. The 3.5 inch LCD screen was large, looked like a little TV set, and doing the shooting was a pleasure. When I played it back, low and behold, the shakies had disappeared -- the built in digital image stabilization. What fun! So now to try to make a real video out of that. So I bought a firewire card, plugged it into my PIII (850mhz) pc with 390 RAM, and installed adobe premiere. Would it work with the RCA? Well, setting the software to "generic" camera, it worked!!! I could control the camera from the software and capture the clips. Now for the editing. I was able to make a little video along with a disolve transition between clips. Eureka!!! double fun. This camera is lovely. I debated whether or not to get a Canon or a Sony, but the Amazon price on this was hmmmmmmm most compelling compared to the prices on similarly equiped cameras of these other mainstream brands. I'm not sure it will be available again on Amazon because it was a closeout, but if it does, it's recommended.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!!!!! Review: This video camera is the best camera I have used in a price range of under one-thousand dollars. I work with Canon GL1's, GL 2's, and XL 1's and I like this camera the most, when considering price and ease of use. Anyone considering buying a camcorder should look no further!
Rating: Summary: Do not buy this Camera!! Review: We received this camera as a Christmas present last year, and we loved it at first. Loads of features and easy to use. However, the camera died after 6 hours of use. We took the camera into an authorized repair shop, and it has been there for the past 4 months!!! The RCA Customer service department is HORRIBLE!!...So now we have a camera sitting in a repair shop, and a manufacturer that won't return our calls or stand behind their product.
