Rating: Summary: Another point of view Review: Had to offer a counterpoint to the other review on this site trashing this little player. I got this for Christmas a few days ago and have nothing but great reviews. My friend got a red iriver and we've been comparing them all morning. Other than the iriver having a little flashier interface, this player stacks right up on every feature, at a little less of a price. You can drag and drop files right into the player from your computer, although if you prefer to organize them into folders, the included musicmatch software is relatively easy to use, and you can drag files into the playlists. The download time was relatively quick, and the sound quality is AMAZING. I would definitely recommend this to a first time user or someone that wants the convenience of lightweight portable music that doesnt want to shell out for an ipod. Recommended!
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money. Let the buyer beware. Review: I got this mp3 player yesterday and within 4 hours it was dead. It completely locked up after its first download. All functions ceased. The customer support is severely lacking. The RCA website is the most useless thing I have ever dealt with. Don't bother with e-mails because they won't be returned. I had to call a long-distance number to even get any tech assistance on this unit and the people were polite but seemed hardly surprised that I was having a problem. Their advice was to return the unit to the dealer because it was defective. I am returning it tomorrow for a REFUND. I'm willing to spend a little more money on ANOTHER brand.
Rating: Summary: Just a regular mp3 player.....no bell and whistle. Review: This mp3 player is good. The headphone, memory expansion, and the ablitlity to record radio are the only plus that this mp3 player gives. If you are looking for those features and just those feater get this. The mp3 that my sis got, an new Iriver 128mb. Although it you can't expand the memory, it is an excellent mp3 player. It's gives sooo many options and features. It has all of the RD2010 excpet feature inculding fm recording. Also the radio reception for the Iriver is sooo much better. THe Rd2010 gives me a lot of hisses on every stations and the Irvier gave me none to little. Iriver even has clock and Rd2010 don't. THe iriver has everything eles you could think including changing EQ, Record from Line in, and more. I also tried one of those new Rio Forge ones, they are better than the RCA(except for the headphones) but not as great as the Iriver. THe Iriver headphones is not bad at all, the Rio headset was the worst. THe Rio Forge was good but the mp3 player suks and you can't record radio with a 128mb verision. (only with 256 + 512 MB)
THe thing that i hate about the RCA is that you can't even browse the songs while a song is currently playing, both the iriver and rio have the feature that you could do that.
Conculsion
Bottom line Both the Rio and Iriver gives you more feature and ablitilty than the RD2010.
I would recommend that you look into the 256mb Rio Forge, but looking at those reviews on amazon.com, people are saying that it will break sooner or later.
But if you can live with a none expandable mp3 player than denenately go for the Iriver.
And the nagivation interferance:
The Rio Forge no question has the best nagivation interferance.
The Iriver is next.
Unforinately the RCA RD2010 has one of the worst nagivation inferance.
AS for the button placement and usages. THe RCA is the best. Then come the Iriver and then the Rio. With the Rio it's impossible to operate with one hand.
I am disaponited with this product beacuse of lack of features and options. But there aren't many product that gives you a good headphone, expanable capcity, and fm recording, and durable. So this product just OK but it could be a lot better.
