Summary: The best MP3 player I've ever used.
Review: I recently purchased this product, but distributed under the name 'Sahen'. I can honestly say that this is the best MP3 player I've ever used. It's light, it installs in about 3 minutes and the sound quality is excellent. I'd recommend it to anybody.

Summary: The Truth
Review: Before I bought this product I read these reviews the same as you are doing now. I found a lot of guys saying that this product sucks. Do not hear them this is the best mp3 player that I have tried. The sound is awesome very loud and clear. The installation took me 5 minutes. It was more that I spected. If you want to ask me something before you buy it you can write to citosys@enlared.net

Summary: Do your shopping...
Review: Before you consider this product - Do you have an EPP parallel port scanner with a printer passthrough? If you answered "yes" be prepared to either add a parallel port to your computer or scrap your scanner. This product uses an ECP parallel port. That being said - the f-20 is easy to set up and sounds GREAT! For the price, you can't beat the F-20 with a stick.

Summary: WOW
Review: I just bought EigerLabs F-20V. It is amazing. I would first like to say the sound is better then most CD players. It has great Bass. The earphones supplied are excellent. The F-20V has a lot of room. I can fit as many as 12 songs without a memory card. Over all it is a great buy.

Summary: I dunno but...
Review: my friend has rio and loves it, but then again he doesn't have this. to me this is worth it just for the portable drive capability. Plus it is cheaper, i think this is the lowest price player out there, next to the f-10. what about MD?

Summary: Battery life and other problems
Review: I purchased an F20 a while ago. Maybe I have a pre-production unit or something. The unit eats batteries even when it's not turned on. I'm also having problems getting the thing to operate properly (buttons don't always work). I've emailed Eiger Labs customer support with no response. When I can get it to work, it sounds great (when I can get it working).

Summary: No support for Windows NT!
Review: The player is good, excellent sound quality, neat layout, love the bass boost, and I think it sounds better than the Diamond Rio that I heard. The aesthetic appeal could be better.

However, I am severely disappointed about the fact that Eigerlabs hasn't supported Windows NT with their products. A visit to their website claims that they will provide NT support soon, however this was not adequate for me.

One other thing that I didn't like is the REQUIREMENT of setting your parallel port to Extended Capabilities Parallel Port (or ECP for short). This should not be a requirement but only a recommendation.

So WARNING! This product doesn't support NT (however there is Linux/Unix support out there, go figure) and you have to know how to set your parallel port to ECP mode.

NOTE to future manufacturers of consumer computer products: If you want consumers to be happy with your products keep this in mind 1) Support for all types of operating systems 2) Ease of use and installation, and I'm talking Idiot-Proof ease of use. I'm getting lazy in my old age and I don't want to go more than 2 or 3 clicks into an installation. ;)

Eiger Labs fails at both of these guidelines.

I'm too lazy to return the product and pay the restocking fee, so instead I sold it to my friend whose computer I used to test it out (since my computer had NT on it). He's happy because I did all the work of installation for him.

Summary: Good, but not as good as CD's
Review: The major limiting factor to an MP3 player is that it, well, has to run MP3's. The problem with this is that the MP3 is a compressed sound format. That is, even if you are recording from your CD's to MP3's, you are losing sound quality, which is very noticable on choral or vocal-intense songs. If what you are looking for is something to listen to while you jog or rollerblade, this product is for you. However, if you want to read a book while listening or just listen to music without distractions, the sound difference is easy to hear. The technology has come a long way, but the MP3 will never be able to rival CD quality sound.
