Rating: Summary: Inexpensive Entry Level Product Review: I wasn't sure that I needed a portable mp3 player. I just wanted to try out mp3's on the go, without flushing hundreds of bucks down the drain...so I was ecstactic when I found this cheapo little model for a VERY low everyday price at a large discount store. It is true that the volume level is not as high as you will need it to be on a crowded bus, and you cannot rewind or fast-forward through a song, though you can skip forward and backward to from one song to another. It does eat batteries, but not any faster than my sony cd player. But, on the other hand, the sound quality IS amazing. It's Sans MMC cards can be found really cheap on the net, for almost half the average price if you look around enough. So far it has been very reliable, has a durable belt clip, and the mere pleasure of no skips versus the skipping of a cd player while jogging is more than worth what I paid for this player. It's lots of fun for an entry level device into portable mp3 players, and even with an added memory card it only costs less than half what a similar RIO player will set you back, and you get the same great audio quality.
Rating: Summary: Worst piece of electronics ever purchased! Review: Let's be honest. This has to be the worst piece of electronics I have ever purchased. It was trouble from day 1. First of all, this baby drains Enegizer Titanium E2 batteries in less than 2 hours. Second, I never got my sandisk MMC card to work with it. The player would recognize it but wouldn't play anything on it. Third, KBGear.com is dead so forget about support. Please don't waste your time, money and energy on this MP3 player. Spend a couple of dollars extra and get a decent one.
Rating: Summary: Gift of Frustration - Use SANDISK MEMORY ONLY!!! Review: The JamP3 has been quite frustrating since I received it as a gift. My main beef with the unit deals directly with the Multi-Media Card memory (MMC). I purchased two Viking 32MB MMCs in order to up the ante on it's onboard 16MB memory. Once installed, the memory was not recognized by the MP3 loading software. After reading the manual several times and searching the KB Gear's website, I found that only SanDisk memory is currently supported by the manufacturer. Click on - Adding Memory - MultiMediaCards After writing e-mails back and forth to both Viking and KB Gear, a support specialist at KB requested that the memory be sent to his company so he can format the memory card. Me: "I tried to format the card but the player (software?) does not recognize the add-on memory. If I buy more memory from Viking, will I have to send every card to the person below?". E-mail from KB Gear support technician: "On your computer; yes. You may have better luck on another computer since it's configuration may be different. Every computer varies a bit and sometimes it is those small bits that can be the culprit." The initial formatting of the memory would allow the player's loading software to recognize the card in order to load songs onto it. After spending $12 to have the memory shipped and insured, it arrived functional (after being lost by FedEx for a week). Other Beefs: While you are loading and re-sampling music (to increase playtime) the unit remains on, draining battery life. While listening to a song - you cannot fast forward nor rewind through a song. The software that is supplied for loading and re-sampling MP3s (MusicMatch) is not very user friendly and has crashed several times while I've attempted to load songs. The support techician at Viking seemed genuinely interested in resolving the issue and asked that he be kept in the loop at all times. I suspect that Viking is trying to resolve this issue with their memory. Given that my player was absolutely free to begin with, I give it 4 stars. If I would have paid full price and experienced the same headaches with the expandable memory - 1 star.
Rating: Summary: Frustrating Review: The JamP3 was my first MP3 player. I wanted something to use for jogging and working out at the gym. This served that purpose but was more trouble than it was worth. The player itself was fine, good sound quality and light weight, but the software was horrible. I had to reinstall it at least once every time I went to load new songs. It rarely recognized my MMC and when it did, it didn't see all the available memory. After I purchased it the first time, I thought I had just gotten a lemon. So, I took it back and got another one. Soon it was doing the same thing again. I took it back a second time and am now ready to spend a little more to get a player that is consistently reliable.
Rating: Summary: Why all the "slam" reviews? Review: The thing is reasonably priced, and it works OK.I don't like the PC interface much at all, but the combo of iTunes (which is adapted from Soundjam)and the Mac software works GREAT. I have the 32 meg card and have had as many as 30 songs on it (encoded @ 64kbps) and they are of very listenable quality. It takes a little planning before you put songs in it. So what, you didn't pay $200 for it either. I think it's a great "entry model" into mp3.I'm keeping it!!!
Rating: Summary: SOUND IS REALLY BAD! Review: Theres three things wrong with this thing. (1) It's not loud at all, u will need a amp to listen to this player. (2) Only 16MB, I could only put up to 8 songs on it. (3) IT EATS YOUR BATTERIES UP IN AN HOUR. (Get rechargeable batteries) But the main thing is the sound, too low, u will not have a good time with this. But for $40 retail, U cant ask for much.
Rating: Summary: This Mp3 player stinks Review: This may be a little short on the memory side but I find nothing wrong with this at all. The sound is equitible to the portable CD players I have had, which are all broken. This has been dropped from about 30" several times and no problems, supports the marketing to kids. The software is OK, but once I read the directions everything was smooth.

Rating: Summary: Worst mp3 player out there Review: This mp3 player is a complete disgrace. it starts out with only 16 mb of memory, so you can only fit 3 or 4 songs at near cd quality. The company says you can get an hour of music but only if you record at a... 32kps. speaking of sound, the headphones are... earbuds that hurt after listening for about 5 min. Even when you replace those with good headphones, The sound quality is very poor. It is definatly not loud enough. At the loudest level you can barely hear it. This is the worst mp3 player on the market so spend a little extra money to get a decent mp3 player and you'll be a whole lot happier.
Rating: Summary: Average Product Review: This product, although average, can be a decent buy for the main reason that it is upgradeable with MMC cards. I think however, that it is still a bit overpriced for what it does and it isn't exactly that small of an mp-3 player. What sort of makes up for it is that it has what seems to be a fairly decent plastic belt clip for those who want to wear it during exercise or other activities. I guess it would make a good secondary mp-3 player for those who would not want to take their primary, more expensive player around with them to some places where it could get dirty or scratched up.
