Summary: Decent little player for the money
Review: If you are searching for an MP3 player under a hundred dollars then you would be hard pressed to find one with as many features as this one. 128MB of (expandable) memory and an FM tuner plus a stopwatch feature. The manual that comes with the unit is pretty sparse and confusing but the one you can download on memorexelectronics.com is much better. The "Real-One" software that comes with it has been ill-received by reviewers on other sites so I didn't install it but you don't need it anyway. Just plug it into a USB port and the computer (Win XP) will see it as a removable drive (or two). Then you just drag and drop your MP3's. The other advantage of the computer seeing it as a removal drive is that it will function in this role also. So you could store pictures or other file types and transfer them to another computer. I have updated the firmware (downloaded from memorexelectronics.com) and it was a pain free and simple operation. It might be harder for someone who is not very proficient with computers. The sound quality is very good. It sounds as good as any portable CD player I've heard. The case has a cheap feel to it and the operation buttons could be beefier but it all works like it's supposed to. The FM reception is weak but strong stations sound good. My only real complaint is with the display. It is unreadable when the backlight switches off. I hope they fix that with a firmware update.

Summary: "rare" problem not so rare
Review: It appears that I have the same problems as others listed below. I followed the instructions for setup - then everything died. Memorex web site has a page saying this may happen in "rare instances". I have repeatedly followed their instructions which claim this will make your product now "fully functional" and it is still dead. My guess is that this product either had ZERO quality assurance testing - or - someone in managmenet forced QA to sign off on a horrible product.

I'm updating this review 1 week later:
I returned the product and exchanged it for a new one. So far things have been going well. I am raising the rating from 1 star to 2 stars as my new product is functional. One glitch is that it will periodically shutdown on its own, even with plenty of battery left.
Today, 1 week later, I recieved a reply back from Memorex tech support. I had inquired on what to do when the entire player dies and their documented procedures do not bring it back to life. I wish I was joking but they sent me an automated e-mail response with instructions on how to copy music.
After working in the tech industry for over a decade, this has got to be the worst product support that I have encountered.

Summary: Good Product for the Price
Review: It does what it says it will do. MP3s play well and sound fine.

I like the stopwatch because I wear it for exercising. The velcro strap is comfortable. I do not use the case that comes with it though I could if I wanted to.

Tne only minor drawbacks are weak radio reception (though it improves if you stretch out the earbud wires as the manual says), and I cannot yet seem to find the firmware upgrade to download (though I do not know that I need an upgrade because everything works well).

Summary: Okay player but BEWARE
Review: Its a decent little player but BEWARE it can not support secure files!!!

I tried to load my legal downloaded music from Musicmatch Jukebox and kept getting a SMDI error. After some research, I found out SMDI stand for Secure Digital Music Initiative. Since this was an industry initiavtive, I figured it would be supported by the company, WRONG!!!

I loaded the lastest firmware update but still no luck.

Ended up calling the company and was told they do NOT support SMDI and recommended that I download my music from an non-secure file site....read inbetween the lines here....We don't support legal downloaded music but do support illegal downloaded music.

Hummmm....Doesn't actually encourage a person to stay legal now does it.

Needless to say I was not happy. I ended up having to record my legal songs onto a CD then using a third party software, "ripped" them off the CD.

If you don't mind all the extra work and wasted CD-R (burn and rip) then go ahead and buy.

But of course if you only have "non-secure" files then by all means its a good little player.

Also FM reception is awful.

Summary: Where's the Support???
Review: Received this product as a birthday present. Followed instructions perfectly, downloaded firmware and player would not turn on. Took back to store, exchanged for new player, same thing happened. Website says this problem occurs rarely and gave instructions to fix. The magical "fix" did not do a thing. There are also conflicting instructions between their website and the package. Tried customer service phone number and you sit on hold, then leave a message. Wrote an e-mail to technical support and never received a response. Took back to store, got a Phillips 128mb Rush player and it works great! Also, their customer service reps were standing by just in case but, it was so user friendly that I didn't even need it. If you have this player, take it back to the store and spend the extra $20 to get a Phillips. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Summary: 'Repeating Reboot'
Review: So this 'rare' problem seems to be popping up yet again! I was attracted to the price, 128 memory, and FM tuner of this little number. I thought this was the coolest thing! Sound was terrific and very easy to operate. No problem at all loading the software with XP. I was in love with this little device and literally used it 2 times while running 45 minutes each time. This unit now reboots itself and will not turn on no matter how many times i go through the troubleshooting part of the manual and reset the unit. So...for 100 bucks, I got 1.5 hours out of this piece of crap. Also - something wacky is happening with my iPAQ now too...outlook seems to store 'recordings' in the notes folder and then my iPAQ freezes up while synching. Coincidence? I think not!

Summary: More Bang for your Buck!
Review: The Memorex Biomorp is a great MP3 Player. It works well in the gym and while you are doing intense workouts and body movements.

The space is more than enough and if not, the expandability make it worth your wild.

Summary: Not so simple
Review: The price on this mp3 player was excellent, however, in terms of ease of use, it was quite a headache. Once you manage to get it operating, you should enjoy it, but it took awhile and a few calls to the customer service number for me to transfer music to it. The manual that comes with it is useless.

Summary: Poor design
Review: The small, lightweight design and features (128MB and FM radio) and the low price attracted me to this player. I took it back after a failed attempt to set the radio presets. I spent over a half an hour trying to touch the buttons just right in order to set the presets for the FM. This is in contrast to the radio-only Sony SRF-M35 that I own takes a split second in order to preset a station. I am a technical person and found it impossible with the Memorex biomorph to set more than one radio preset without the "feature" kicking in that sets all of the presets randomly for you. If you don't care about the radio it might be all right, but then the RCA Lyra 128MB is probably a better option in that case. If you ever planned on using the radio, stay away.

Summary: Pretty nifty package
Review: This is my first dive into the world of MP3 players and I had done research on a handful of products to know what features I wanted in one (i.e. a lock feature, random play, eq, decent backlighting, song title/artist display, etc). This one had all the features I wanted.

First, this bad boy is so, so lightweight. It is basically weightless even with battery. That's a boon because I am using it for long runs.

Secondly, it was easy to upgrade and fairly easy to download mp3's to the device. My only complaint is it did not work hand in hand with the RealOne player and you have to sorta of trick RealOne to function together. A simple driver could have fixed this.

Everything seems solid enough construction except at the USB port where it is quite fragile. My first plug in nearly broke the thing. Now ever cautious, I'm not having problems, but it could be real heartbreak for $100.

Finally, the best part. The sound. This little sucker is loud. Deafening loud if you want it to be and many MP3 players out there are quite tame in this catagory. It's limited EQ functions are actually plenty for my plebian musical tastes and these were the first earbuds that haven't sounded like utter garbage when using them.

All in all, I am quite pleased with this device.
