Summary: Trust me it doesn't even deserve that.
Review: ... my friend let me listen to his and it sucked. It was the worst thing I had ever heard. The bass wasn't even adible. Even at full blast I could hardly hear the music. If your going to a mp3 player get the Bantham 350

Summary: Oh sooo elegant...
Review: ...like everything else Apple develops. This is simply the best MP3 player out there. One reviewer (and only one) suggested it sounded horrible. I submit, judging by the comments, the user is probably using 48k MP3s ;) The sound of my 128K (or higher) MP3s is nothing short of incredible. Another reviewer stated this was the best MP3 player a Mac user could own. Although I feel sorry for peecee users there is some relief here: There is free software out there that allows a peecee to use an iPod. But Windoze owners beware: you won't find the familiar crashes or confusing interfaces that you are accustomed to. What you will find is an MP3 so simple to use that the instruction manual was a brochure! And I was using the device intuitively w/o the manual. And if you think the iPod is easy to use and elegant, try a Mac with OS X!!!

Summary: 2nd generation Ipod
Review: Do not waste your money on the 5GB version assuming it is like the one I saw at the retail outlet. The 5 GB version at the store did not have a "hold" switch. The new 10 GB version is the 2nd generation device. New software v 1.1 and most importantly it finally has the missing "hold" switch so you do not accidentally turn it on while it is in your briefcase. The only thing I still have a question about which I could not find an answer for at Apple.com is how many recharges the battery will take since it appears to be non-replaceable by the user. I wonder how much the replacement battery costs and where do you get it replaced - at an Apple service center? Lastly if you are not a Apple MAC owner like me you can still use it with Mediafour Xplay software. I connected to a PC with Microsoft XP OS and Mediafour Xplay Preview 6 software and everything works great. Can't wait for Mediafour to release the production version of the software (soon they say). As an engineer I admire the quality of the engineering this product represents; Apple has the best MP Harddisk player without a question- pricey but worth it.

Summary: The best MP3 player... period!
Review: First of all, Congratulations and thank you to the geniuses from Cupertino! Apple has done it again!

This gadget no more bigger than a pack of smokes just revolutionized how I organize and listen to music!

Being a long time mac user.. this is just what a lot of us are waiting for. A device that is easy to work with and user friendly and packs not just features.. but features you can use! (and non that you won't!)

Combined with apple's other revolution "itunes", The ipod gives you the option of automatically synching or working on your mp3 library yourself. The screen size is just right and is uncluttered unlike other mp3 players which require satellite imagery just to look at the screen.

Along with the ability to store names and addresses, and work simply as 10 gig hard drive, the ipod delivers powerful flexibility and reliability. (the 10 hour battery alone is worth the $500 duckets) So far, my ipod hasn't skipped with normal use. (i've heard you can exercise and jog with it and it'll keep up with you)

Once you own one, you can't stop working on it!
Now I know how the "Tamagochi" nano-pet craze felt like!

NOTE: I use a case made by Xtreme Mac which is made with leather and has a thick plastic face with a circular hole for the jog wheel and controls. I've been quite happy with it because it totally protects your ipod from scratching and scuffing. The kit also comes with an easy to use belt clip. Although a little pricier, it's worth the money!

Summary: It is way more than and MP3 player!!!
Review: Granted it is the best MP3 player which is sooned to be copied (which is why apple should just make it for the PC). But it is also an organizer, calendar, TV remote, news reader, fire wire hard drive, and I hear hackers are coming up with all kinds of other uses which Apple apparently doesn't seem to mind.

My recommendation--get an Apple computer and get an iPod. If you are PC user, just take the leap, give yourself time to NOT have a start button (you'll be glad you left it--but you can still download it for the mac if you miss it that much), and enjoy the fact that it doesn't crash.

Summary: Best MP3 Player in the World. You get what you pay for.
Review: I am very impressed with the iPod. It sounds good. It is easy to use. Uploads are swift. Battery life is very good. The user interface is intuitive and a breeze to master. You're up and running and listening to your music in no time. Truly plug-n-play, I was able to set-up and start using my iPod without reading the instructions.

It is more expensive than other hard disk based players out there. But, in my opinion, the iPod does what it does so well the others aren't even an option. Slick, sleek and sophisticated, I believe the iPod is a great MP3 jukebox at a fair price.

Pros:
Excellent user interface
Speedy FireWire file transfers
Doubles as a portable hard disk
Good sound quality
Good battery life
Looks pretty darned spiffy

Cons:
Expensive
Heavy for it's size
Contains moving parts (hard disk)
Instructions warn you should never, ever, drop it

Summary: Get any other mp3 player and you will regret it
Review: I bought mine a little less than a year ago and it has been great since day one. It is compact, can be used as an emergency startup disk for Macintosh computers, and the controls makes navigation a piece of cake. I also have a Nomad Jukebox and a friend at work has the Archos Jukebox...I can't believe how archaic those things are, if you want to navigate to a certain song it will take you minutes. WIth my iPod and the scroll wheel, it takes no time to find what you want. The sound is crystal, the battery usage is amazing, it still cranks out 8-10 hours after all this time. My biggest gripe was that there were no battery replacements offered, but now for $ you can get a new battery...so all in all I have yet to find a flaw on this puppy. The firewire transfer of songs is simply mindblowing. Buy any other mp3 player and you will regret it even more now that you have just read this :)

Summary: Outstanding, with at least one minor flaw...
Review: I bought my 10GB iPod two weeks ago and have loaded 1200+ songs onto it already (128 bit compression) and the thing is barely half full. I've also managed to figure out how to use it with a Windows PC... this wouldn't be the easiest set-up for inexperienced computer users. Note that the third-party software to hook an iPod up to a Windows PC requires Win98 SE or higher... if you have basic Win98 or Win95 you're out-of-luck.

Also, one problem which Apple needs to address is the fact that it freezes if you've using it while jogging or engaging in other physical activity and the memory buffer (20MB, about five songs) has been depleted because of constant jostling. Rather than re-loading the buffer when you stop moving the iPod, it has a tendency to freeze up (requiring a full re-start). Hopefully Apple will fix this problem soon.

All in all, a great, revolutionary product.
