Summary: Best gadget I ever bought
Review: This is the best gadget I ever bought. Easy to use, reliable, tremendous amount of storage and great sound quality. All my CDs ( I have about 100) are now on the iPod and I use it with my home stereo as well as with the supplied headsets when I am traveling.

Summary: Good form terrible product
Review: I am now on my second I-POD the unit is nice while it lasts but they do not last for very long. After 4 months my first one died and now after 2 months my second one is dead, out of the 90 day warranty, out of luck.

Summary: Expensive, worth it? Yeah.
Review: I have been using the iPod all week. I enjoy taking it on long walks, thinking I can outlast the battery life. This never happens. The battery life is extraordinary. I have owned cd walkmen that play two or three cd's before completely draining their ... batteries. This electronic gadget outlast's my own stamina. I don't have to worry about battery life. Worth it? Yes. Just as I wonder if I will ever outlast my iPod's battery, I wonder about the hard drive. Will I ever get enough worthy music to fill the entire 4.6 GB? Does enough worthy music even exist? I could fill the iPod with music I would never feel the urge to listen to. I could! But I won't this device deserves honorable music. Thankfully, 80 dollars worth of cd's came with the iPod. I pledge not to disgrace my iPod with poor music selections. More hard drive space than I could ever correctly fill? Worth it? Yes. One drawback is my shyness around my iPod. I have to hide it all the time, in order to keep people from getting jealous. If I took this thing into work? Look out. It could really endanger my career. People would think I am getting paid way too much, or possibly a spy. I have to hide this awesome thing. It is like wearing a 5 pound gold nugget on your neck. Don't get mugged!

Summary: The Bloom is Off This Rose
Review: For the first two days I had my iPod, I honestly thought it was the best piece of electronic equipment I've ever owned. The ease of use, speed with which it downloaded songs from my hard drive, and my ability to easily create a multitude of playlists and organize music the way I wanted really floored me.

Then I realized that it didn't seem to be holding its charge for very long. Tried all the hints and fixes that came with the unit, that came with the software, and that are posted on Apple's Web site. With each day the period it stayed charged diminished and within a week it was dead completely and wouldn't even take a charge, let alone play.

Could just be a bum unit, and was still in the 90-day warranty, so I sent it back (interestingly, Apple was able to immediately ship a box with a foam cutout exactly the size of the iPod, hmmmm). As noted in a few other reviews here and even on Apple's site, this appears to happen to more than a few.

I remain hopeful of being thrilled again. But all I know at this point, is that I paid a relatively large sum for something that in short order didn't work at all. That being the case, it's not yet worthy of more than one star.

Summary: WOWZA! WOWZA! WOWZA!
Review: This little gadget blows my mind and I'm talking about the 5gb (I do realize they make them in ten now). I put my whole music collection on it and I still have room to spare. Apple has come up with something special as usual and they leave me wondering what the Ipod will grow into 5 years from now...mpeg movies on that tiny screen? Really great product.

Summary: Incomparable Music-playing Device
Review: I ordered my iPod soon after it was released. My wife could not understand what could justify the expense. Ten minutes after she saw it she said, "I want one of those!" My 300+ collection of CD's was horribly underutilized until the iPod came along. I have over two days worth of music, something like 52 hours on my iPod. It is like having my own personal radio station with the best of the best of my music collection. I use one of those inexpensive tape inserts to use it in the car. The rest of the time, I just enjoy the sounds. Great sound, easy to use, long battery life, beautiful to look at. I have already gotten $... worth of enjoyment out of it. What are you waiting for?

Summary: Fun, useful, well designed gadget 4 everyone
Review: This little device is a fantanstic toy for the young and old, professional and student. Doubling as a fast external storage device for applications, documents, pictures, etc., this little MP3 player/contact viewer is a really useful tool AND toy. I take mine everywhere and always enjoy a game of knock-out while listening to some good quality tunes. Interface with the Mac is fantanstic and powerful. Don't settle for anything less.

Highly recommend this little device and an iBook too!!

Summary: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Review: Two Words : This [stinks]!

This protable is:

1) heavy
2) very short battery life
3) not durable (breaks easily after falls)
4) no remote
5) LCD is not backlit

Instead, look to Minidisc. With MDLP, you can get 5 cds on one MD. Also, you get 80 hours of playback, whereas with the iPod, you get a measly 13 hrs. I have dropped my MDP several times, still as durable as ever. My friend dropped his iPod and it broke. [my money] down the drain. My [money] MZ-N1 NetMD MD recorder has taken some licks and is still going strong.

My N1 also has a remote. The remote is also backlit, which makes it alot easier to see in the dark. Using a remote also reduces wear and tear on the main unit.

Also, MD players are very tiny, (most are just a little bit bigger than a disc), and are as light as a feather. When you have it in your hand, you almost forget it is there.

I seriously advise you to not buy this product. With Minidisc, you'll be alot happier.

Summary: $400 Paperweight
Review: The iPod suddenly went dead after five months of very casual use. Since the warranty on this is 90 days, I enquired about an out-of-warranty service. The repair would cost $270 (not including shipping and taxes). You can buy a new one for around $300. Apple was very unsympathetic. When I first got the iPod, I thought it was a great product. I've changed my opinion entirely. The fact that the iPod only comes with a 90 day warranty is risky especially since the repair is so expensive. My advice is to only buy the iPod if you can get an extended warranty. If, like me, you believe items like this should have a standard one year warranty, buy something else or you run the chance of being stuck with a $400 paperweight.

Summary: Aplles big bite
Review: Nothing compares ot this player. It has NO weaknesses but all the looks. If you wonna make a big impression try this one - no chick can resist, ehm - sorry. I own a lot of MP3 players (a sony memory stick player, a Creative Nomad 2 and a Jukebox, an RCA Lyra 2, a Panasonic SD Player (no. 2) and a horrible phillips player but I can tell you, there simply is no alternative to the iPod and it's best with a 10 GB drive. Buy this one and catch a new girlfriend - the hook won't miss!
