Summary: Hard to Search, Hard to Run
Review: I bought this item when it almost first came out. I paid almost $$$ for it and was expecting a good product. When I installed the software, put songs on a playlist, and tried to send them to the device through the software, it didn't work, so I used my computer to send them there insted. When I went through the instruction mannual, it had no resolution for. I also had a computer programer look at it and he couldn't get it to work. Also, I find it to take a long time to go to another song if you are in the middle of one already. The last thing I will say about this is that with the capacity of this machine, it should have a search device like iPod or the RioRiot. Those machines may cost more, but it is definetly worth it in the long run.

Review: I am a geek. I have the Archos Studio 10. They don't really need to go together.The Archos Studio 10 is easy to set up. I installed all the software, and it was self explainatory. Although me being a geek, I still think the average person could easily get things started using the manual. Although the manual is written very poorly and is small, it does the job. Although it's USB 1.1 interface is SLOW, i can forgive it. I got this as a christmas gift yesterday and the FF (or + button) came not working up-to-par. But for [$$], I'd like to see any other company make a more reliable one for this price. Although I'd like to see the option for USB 2.0 or even IEEE 1394 (also known as Firewire), this player packs a powerful punch to your ears without a powerful punch to your wallet. Some people might complain about the speed, some the quality, and some will rave about it. I will say i like this player, but some people have different prefrences.

IF he would have read the manual, it SAYS to run Windows Scandisk to fix the problem. Another reviewer also said he couldnt chop his DJ mixes in parts, thats to do on your computer in a sound editor such as cool edit at syntrillium.com.

Summary: My Archos 10gb
Review: I've had my Archos now for about 6 monthes, and i has served it's porpose very well. I took it on vacation with me across the Atlantic and i ran out of battery power before i ran out of music. I also have used it as an additional HD with much success. I must agree with most everyone in the downfalls: Poor manual, and horrible headphones. As of now, i wish that i would have "sprung" for the 20 gb recorder as my 10gb is to small to hold all my collection, and it is miss a feature that i wish it had, the built in microphone. I also wish that it could be upgraded to USB 2.0 or firewire....Overall though i am very happy with it.

Summary: Great-if you're a tekkie!
Review: I've had this MP3 player for 10 months now and am not pleased with it, at all. First of all, one of my friends had to set up the files and folders and "roots" to get all my music properly archived. It skips around. It utilizes MusicMatch Jukebox (as if!).It's quite heavy and bulky. My hard drive constantly had errors on it. And, finally, the whole hard drive crashed on me a few months ago and is sitting in its original box awaiting the mailman to send it back for repairs. On the other hand.......it can hold goo-gobs of songs.

-Functional
-LINUX compatible!! (check out Rockbox!) Negative:
-Slow upload.
-10 GB is not actually a lot, especially if you like multiple genres and want data transfer capability.
-Some loose plastic bits.
-No support for other file types (I don't actually care).
-Bulky design.
-Lousy documentation. It's a decent external hard drive and player for a good price. Hard to beat at its price point.

Review: Great player, I have two studio 10 and a recorder 20. Of course I just keep a Studio 10. Recorder has better navigated (8 line) LCD. Studio just has two. Battery life can be up to 8 hours (which is varied depends on sound volume/quality/setting). The firmware isn't good, since the offical site doesn't update the firmware oftenly. Update to Rockbox if you are using Archos studio. You will get better result of the player. I don't suggest to update to Rockbox if you are using Recorder (personally I don't like Rockbox's recorder's firmware but many people do like it). But to Jukebox studio, Rockbox is really great.
For HD error, I think one of the reviewer said the right thing: Unplug the USB device from Computer OS first (usually the icon at the time bar right hand side. safely remove USB device/HD), then unplug the USB cable from the jokebox. The headphone need to be replace, don't use the come with head phone. Then this player will bring great performence to you.
Another thing is. MP3s which below or = 192k/s is ok. Mostly, I decode mp3 stream = 192k/s. If you play over 192k/s, you may face some skip problem ( I have try 256k/s and 320k/s, both have skipping problem). The reason might be the laptop internal hard drive's buffer is not enough = 2MB. I don't think there is big difference between 192k/s, 256k/s or 320k/s; so 192k/s is ok and much better than 128k/s. Don't complain sound quality if you using stream 128k/s and a mal-quality headphone.

Review: This is great. One thing that the technical specs did't say was that the batteries are rechargable - or maybe I just missed it. Anyway, the batteries last 8-10 hours. Then just recharge with the included AC adapter. The headphones weren't the best, and the manual is lacking, but I never read the instructions anyway. I also have not installed the Jukebox software, just the driver. I'm just using Winamp to create playlists and it works great.

Review: The player and software were great. They quality is good and the time it takes to load a CD onto the player at the highest quality is only about 5 minutes. The 10 GB drive is large enough for a couple hundred CDs. The battery is ok but it takes a while to recharge and it deteriorates after only a couple of months. I bought the product new but when I got it I noticed it had cracks and dents all over it. It looked like someone had tried to pry open the battery casing. I think they may have sent me a used jukebox. It hasn't even been a year yet and it is already useless. It no longer connects to the computer, it turns off for no apparent reason. I can't go through 5 songs without it coming up with a "Hard Drive Error" message. It freezes for no apparent reason. If you tap it or move it even slightly, it will turn off or freeze. I tried to defragment it but it didn't help. I gave it 2 stars because it worked great for the first couple of months. If you get the product and you notice dents or cracks in it or there is data already stored on it, make sure to send it back.

Review: I had this unit up and running in 15 mins. Very easy to use. Problems include: 1)The battery charger. It is always charging, it is never "Full." This makes me nervous regarding battery life. NiMH batteries are supposed to be totally drained before recharging as far as I know. Also the backlight stays on all the time while charging. 2)Song files. I mostly downlaod live DJ sets (generally 70-100 mins long)onto the player, and so far I can't break them into individual tracks. I also have not successfully recorded using the digital or line connections.
I have only had this player for 2 days so maybe I will figure these things out, but everything takes trial and error since the manual is VERY short and covers nothing. It appears to have been written by. . . .I dont know who could have written this silly thing and actually expected it to help anyone.
