Rating: Summary: ok Review: This product is very difficult to use. I cant figure out how to put anything from my computer on to it. If, however, you arent like me and technologically challenged, it would be great.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!! Over 9,000 hours and counting! Review: I purchased the 6 GB version of this product over a year ago. I was looking for a reasonably priced way to put high quality "on hold" music on our company's telephone system. I've only ripped 440 songs onto it so far. Which is only taking up about 1.5 GB or 25% of my available memory! Using the A/C adapter, I plugged it into our phone system and selected Random play. It has been playing NON-STOP, 24 hours a day, EVERY day for the past 13 months! Folks, that's over 9,000 hours of CONTINUOUS play without a glitch! And it shows no signs whatsoever of stopping! To say that I'm happy with my purchase is a huge understatement! I can't imagine what more could be asked of this product. It has proven to be incredibly durable and reliable. The computer interface is extremely easy and intuitive to use. Much easier than the Rio products I have used before. You can make multiple play lists, which has been very helpful for our application. (For instance, we have a seperate play list of Christmas music that we play only during the holiday season.) The sound quality is exceptional. We have received many compliments on the sound of our hold music from our customers. Obviously, this things is built to last. If it holds up this well to 24/7 commercial use, just imagine how long it would last under normal use!! If you want a reliable machine that holds an incredible amount of music, look no further!
Rating: Summary: Nomad Jukebox Poor Choice Review: Nomad Jikebox has plenty of memory (I have the 20GB version) for a stack of music. Problem is that the supporting software is poor and the sound is difficult to hear during say a plane trip. The open ear phones do NOT provide adequate sound and even on Max volume it was difficult to hear quite passages. I tried to query Creative Labs about these problems but I got no response. Too bad because the Nomad Jukebox is a great idea but teir execution is very poor!
Rating: Summary: Creative's NOMAD JUKEBOX is the best mp3player onthe marke Review: This is the best MP3 player you'll ever get. Not only does it [holds alot] of music, but the interface is better than any other on the market. I got one for my girlfriend during X-mas. You can browse and add music to a queue while it's playing. The shuffling function let's you shuffle the whole jukebox, specific records, or just the queue. I just bought a second one for myself last week. In any size (6GB, 10GB, 20GB) this is the best player on the market & built to last. (And the hard drives are upgradeable
Rating: Summary: What? No documentation? Review: The Jukebox would have been excellent... if I had been able to get it to work with my computer. It comes with exactly one paper sheet of instructions and a warranty booklet - the rest is included in the manual on the software CD. For some time I was unable to install the manual, and I was at a loss... and even when I finally got it installed, no luck - troubleshooting didn't include my problem and directed me to a tech support phone # that was supposedly listed on the warranty booklet (there was no phone number there).
Rating: Summary: Never Buy Another Memory Stick Review: This product has a 10gb memory that means you'll never have to buy another memory stick every again. This product can hold over 2,500 song and has other features like online downloadable upgrades. I have looked at many mp3 players and I almost bought The Nomad IIc... I compared the price of the mp3 players and price of memory card and added up the figures of much it would coast to buy enough memory cards to equal this player at let me tell you you don't want to spend that much money. I would buy this product It seem to be for lack of a better word awesome. I'm even saving my own money to buy this product.
Rating: Summary: Good For A Large Collection Review: My first portable MP3 player was the Rio Volt. What a piece of junk. So I bought this Nomad Jukebox 10GB player. I don't have 10GB of MP3s in my music collection, but I'm pretty close. With these hard drive-based MP3 players, I was under the impression you could just connect it to your computer, have it show up as a removable drive in Explorer, and just copy over the files. On the contrary, you have to start some bloated software to connect to the Nomad and copy the files over. Unfortunately, navigating a large collection with the Nomad is difficult. For example, you can't organize the files into folders on the original Jukebox models. Fortunately, the computer software does make it a tad easier to create playlists than on the Jukebox alone.Battery life is short...maybe 4 hours using AA rechargeables. The power adapter doesn't seem to charge them very well, so I use an external battery charger. At least it doesn't use a proprietary battery like the iPod. I've dropped the unit a couple of times. The unit shuts itself off, but I was able to turn it back on with no problems. If you need to carry your extensive music collection every where you go, the Nomad Jukebox is a good choice. I absolutely recommend you go to nomadworld.com and upgrade the firmware to 4.1. You will have fewer problems. Also, stay away from the Nomad bloatware. There is a freeware app called "MP3-Library" that works very well with the original Jukebox. If you have a the Jukebox 2 or 3, look into Notmad Explorer (redchairsoftware.com) which allows you to move files to and fro in Windows Explorer. It costs a little, but the software is updated every 2 weeks or so with new features and the updates are free forever. Also check out nomadness.net for underground info on your Nomad. Personally, the volume isn't loud enough to hear over my lawn mower or whatever when doing chores. The Nomad takes a good minute or two to start up which is slower than my computer. I'm constantly rotating in and out the songs I listen to. It takes about as long to copy the files over to Jukebox as it does to burn a CD, so I think I am going back to a MP3 CD solution (Samsung MCD-HM200). It's easier to use and cheaper, so I won't cry when it breaks.
Rating: Summary: Initial problems but nice product Review: I had a problem similar to another reviewer--my Nomad could connect, I could view the files on it and change settings but I couldn't transfer files. In my case the problem was the USB 2.0 ports on my PC--I tried all the ports and a USB 2.0 hub but got the same problem. Finally I tried an old USB 1.0 hub--suddenly everything worked fine. It turns out this is a known problem with Windows XP and USB 2.0 mass storage devices. Microsoft has a fix but it's not available for download. Creative tech support was no help in solving the problem. However, since I got it working the Nomad has been great. It starts up faster then my MP3 CD player and is very easy to navigate.
