Summary: Nearly perfect.
Review: It's simply amazing, its storage capacity is wonderfull and it really sounds perfect. The only problem is that it doesn't play fine some albums like live concerts and other kind of continous-playing albums. The problem is that when a song finishes, ther is an empty period of time before the other song starts. I already know that it is an MP3 problem and that period of time is not long; but it is still a bug.

Summary: Wonderful MP3 Player
Review: Let me start by saying anyone who does not think the iPod is at the head of its class is dead wrong. It is the premier mp3 player on the market today. I use a Windows XP machine (forgive me Apple users), and this has been my only complaint. The iPod has had problems from day 1 syncing to my computer. If Apple could have made the iPod work as great with Windows as it did iTunes, I would have easily given this 5 stars.

Review: I'm 16 and in High School. I love my I-POD! I'm using Windows and it works great! Sure it has it's fualts but once you get it up and running it's amazing! I have the Brand new one with the touch sensitive buttons and they can get annoying but all I have to do is put the hold button on and lay back and use my remote to surf through my songs! You can also put the hold button on your remote too! It's true that you have to get a extra cable! BUY it when your there! You bought the I-POD not the cable! It has a light blue back light that you can ajust so that it will go off in a matter of seconds or always stay on or always off. It has games like Brick, Parachute and solitare! and you can play them while you listen to your music! The song dosn't shut off when you click out of the window where it's playing in! It does have a pause button. Once you download your songs off of Kazaa or your cds the transfere takes miliseconds! When you go in to your songs it sorts it be the songs alphibedicaly or by the artist or by the album! It's great if you just want to just listen to a album and the songs that you downloaded on that album are listed and you don't have to worry about all the other songs mixing in with it! When the songs is playing the tital , if it's too big for the screen, it will rotate so you can see it! It also shows the artist and album! It is delicate so if i where you I wouldn't go running with it cuz it's not built for high impact. It might also get dirty. It is a great MP3 player and you don't just hear the music you FEEL it! If you don't like the headphones it comes with you can hook in some others that are more comfortable! It fits all headphones! ENJOY IT! go here too http://www.ipodlounge.com/
It's a great site! ENJOY THEM SONGS! MUAH!

Summary: Do your research before buying
Review: The iPod is my second MP3 jukebox. It has only two primary advantages: small size and it looks cool. That's really it and those two probably make it the best machine out there, but there is plenty of room for improvement.

The battery life is only 4 or 5 hours and it doesn't recharge that quickly. You probably need to buy a Firewire card for your computer (though it is worth it because of Firewire's speed and the fact that it recharges the iPod). You have to have Windows 2000 or XP to use iTunes (though you can download EphPod and use the iPod with Windows 98). iPods are expensive and so are the accessories: $50 for an AC adapter! Even the cable is some kind of proprietary mini-SCSI. Replacing the battery is $100. The buttons are too sensitive and if you carry it in your hand you will inadvertently skip songs or change the volume. So you have to lock the controls meaning to skip a song you then have to unlock, skip, and relock. Because they are touch sensitive you don't know if you've pressed a button and it is easy to hit the button again waiting for the hard drive to spin up whereupon all your button presses will activate and you end up somewhere you didn't intend. What's wrong with real buttons?!

I have issues with software as well. You can't just drag and drop MP3 files, you have to go through the desktop software. If you just drag an MP3 onto the iPod it can't play it. You have to use the iPod database instead of being able to categorize your music in folders the way you (might) want. This means you have to pay special attention to MP3 tags and if you only have one song by an artist, then the Artists list will show that person just as prominently as someone with 100 songs. I have 3,000 songs on my iPod and it's a pain getting through that list (I took about 300 singles and modified the tags so they wouldn't show up in the Artist or Album lists but I still have about 300 complete CD's to flip through). When you want to play an album the iPod skips over the first song as often as not. The extras like syncing your contacts, calendar, and the games are nearly worthless.

Still, this is one of the best MP3 players out there. I just don't think anything is perfect yet, but how long will it be before someone else comes up with a tiny hard drive that will let everyone else shrink the size of their players too? When that happens the iPod will lose its primary advantages of small size and looking cool.

Not all complaints I see on Amazon are justified. If people would read the box they would realize you need a Firewire card or will have to buy a USB cable. Yes it's hard to hook it up to your car stereo, but so is any MP3 player (why don't they just have MP3 players for cars?). Likewise it can be used as an external hard drive, but so can just about any jukebox.

The 20 GB iPod comes with a lot of very nice accesories like the wire remote, AC adapter, cradle, carrying case, and headphones. And Apple seems to frequently update the operating system and make improvements as well as making iTunes better and better.

The iPod isn't a bad device, but it's not great either. Buy it if you don't mind spending the money, but if money is an issue there may be better choices.

Summary: Awesome Product!!
Review: This is a great piece of technology! I just recently purchased one and i think it is quite possibly the best investment ive ever made! its very easy to use, built solidly and provides excellent sound quality! i have all my cds in this thing and ive only used like 2 gb! its crazy!! Alot of people have stuff to complain about... but they are just whiners. Yeah, we know it doesnt come with a USB cable, but oh well, shell out the extra 40 bucks or so for one, and then all is well! it really isnt as big of a problem as some people think it is... I would gladly pay that extra money for this quality piece of machinery. Its just that good! Definitely worthy of the five stars!

Summary: The iPod is the one and only, even if you use Windows!
Review: Okay, yes, it's pretty expensive. Yes, you DO NOT get a USB cable out of the box. The battery charge only lasts for about 8 hours and can be expensive to replace. It scratches easily. And it doesn't support EVERY format out there. But the iPod is still the best you can get. No other product combines design, ergonomics and simplicity like the iPod does. While the iPod is flat-out gorgeous to look at and hold, it works even better. The scroll wheel and buttons respond so quickly, the menus flow intuitively and the features and accessories all combine to make listening to music fun and pleasurable again. The sound is clean, detailed and powerful. Throw the iPod in with iTunes for Windows, and it becomes a no brainer...no other interface is as seemless, as easy and as powerful. The suite incorporates ripping, burining, conversion and tagging utilities that are second to none. The iPod has brought new life to my music collection. With it, you just want to listen to all your songs and albums all over again. You rarely get disappointed when you buy the best...and nothing is as good as the iPod.

Summary: Perfect
Review: I recently bought this mps player and it is perfect. It will update all your songs so fast. You dont need firewire but it will help. It is good with usb but it is a little slower, thats why you should get firewire. Some bad things about this is it doesnt support wma, it will scratch easily so make sure you buy a case for it. If you have scratches though you can buy a kit that removes them at www.ipodcleaner.com.

Summary: What Steve Jobs and Apple don't tell you.
Review: Like many Americans who were lucky enough to get iPods for Christmas, I should be enjoying this supposedly fabulous gadget today, Dec. 26. Instead, I have a splitting migraine from fighting traffic and crowds, because I've been driving around my hometown to locate a USB CABLE I need to hook up this $400 wonder to my PC. Nevermind that for this sum of money, Jobs et. al. should have included this cable in the box, or at least had enough in the supply chain to make sure that those of us who have PCs built before 2002 (most of which require the "special" USB cable) could locate one without burning half a tank of gas and wasting half a day. A helpful search feature on Amazon by the way tells me that I can find one in my home state, a mere hour and fifteen minutes away.

For $400, this should not happen. If you decide to get an iPod and you have a PC that is over a year old, GET THE CABLE. And while you're at it, why don't you ring 1 800 MY APPLE and ask the scrouges at Apple why they didn't bother to include this utterly vital piece of hardware with each iPod, or at least make sure that those generous people who forked over the $400 to give someone an iPod for Christmas knew that their gift required the cable in order to work with a PC. As it is, I've ordered mine now from Amazon. I expect to have my iPod up and running in a week. Thanks Steve -- merry Christmas to you too.

Summary: Believe the hype...
Review: I bought a 20GB Ipod at Apple's new store in Tokyo's Ginza. (another Windows user who forgot to buy the USB adapter, and had to return for it the following day) The CDROM included doesn't include Itune software (instead Audible Manager - which is horrible). Many futile attempts to figure out how to upload my library via Audible Manager, Music Match and Media Player. I searched Google, downloaded Itunes. I almost returned it when I thought I had to subscribe to Itunes and my personal collection wouldn't upload.

Well, I'm soooo glad I didn't. Ipod simplicity is elegant; the wheel nav, basic LCD, and overall design. Finger touch is sensitive beyond belief. Itunes complements the Ipod very well. My entire world, life, and memories through music are now with me... hard to put this into words. Apple has welcomed me to the future...

Summary: THis thing is amazing!!!
Review: I have heard about Ipod issues, but so far mine is amazing. Toys come and go, but this is a toy that actually has a major impact on your life if you are a music lover. A piece of art.
