Summary: This Has Everything
Review: This has everything you need for an MP3 player + more. However, what would have made this 5 star would be to include an AC adapter!!!But this player is excellent and the battery life on this player last a long time. I really LOVE the voice recorder - it really sounds very clear and more clearer with a mic adapter. Downloading from PC to MP3 is a snap! Software that came with it was easy to install but I kept redoing it because I thought it didnt work but acutally it was OK the first time I installed it, the installation was just so fast. I LOVE IT and highly recommend this product (really a good deal for your money).

Summary: Works very well as a dictaphone
Review: I bought this product primarily to tape lectures and it has performed that function very well. I downloaded the software from their website and had no problems. The inbuilt microphone performs very well and allows the speaker to roam around. For my purposes, recording at the lowest quality level is quite sufficient.

Summary: downsides of the Ripflash PLUS
Review: There are two significant downsides to the Ripflash PLUS.Both of them have to do with the unit losing all the data that you are in the middle of recording. You could lose several hours of data that you have already recorded if you have not ended the recording and your batteries die. You can also lose data if the unit locks up due to the unit picking up a loud sound. It is unclear if the "locking up" is due to the unit picking up a sound above a certian dB(loudness) or above a certian pitch. You can test for yourself by starting a recording and and as you raise the loudness of your voice or raise the pitch of your voice you may see the unit appear to be in pause. It has locked up. And all the data, up to that point, in that current recording job is lost. And the only way known to get the unit to work again is to pull the batteries out and then put them back in. other recordings that are in memory appear to remain in tact. But any recording that you were in process of recording is completely lost. If you are a reporter and use your unit to record interviews or live speeches. This can be BIG problem. It appears that this should be something that can be fixed in a firmware update. I hope.

Summary: Rip Flash Plus
Review: I'm reasonably savvy when it comes to technology, but I'm definitely not a tech guru. So take that into consideration when looking at my rating. This is very portable and I love that I can just strap it to my arm. I use this on the stationary bike, the stairmaster, and when running at the track. It's very well suited for physical activity. I found the instructions confusing (even the shortcut provided separate from the booklet). But once I figured it out, it was so simple loading my music onto the player. My only complaint is about volume. I bought different (clip on) headphones since I use this for running. Even at the loudest setting, the music is not loud enough. I think part of the problem is the distance of the phones to my ears. But even with the included earbuds, I still think the volume at the highest level could be louder. (Also, the cord length: it's short on the left earbud and extremely long on the right. I don't know if this is a product feature (although, why?) or I just got a somewhat defective set. Were it not for the awkward length, I might use the earbuds instead of my other headphones.)

Review: the voice quality is not very good. But it's an useful product. Intially installing the drive was a pain. Now with new drivers the installation was easy... will recommend this product if it's less than 100...

Summary: Does the job
Review: PROS: great form factor - tiny, light and feels good in the hand; more than decent for recording interviews, lectures etc; EXCELLENT support - I returned 3 units because of failing backlights, and finally decided to upgrade to the 192M version (available only from Pogo! Products and now discontinued). The company's support personnel responded almost instantly to my e-mails and replacement units were shipped promptly and without hassle; case included; comes with a line-in input CONS: PC-only; not Audible.com compliant; primitive, hard-to-install software; poor documentation; poor at recording live music or other loud sounds; low capacity (if you plan to use as an MP3 player for anything other than audiobooks); somewhat confusing menu. But with regular use you grow to love it.

Summary: Returned a faulty unit
Review: I had one for about a month and used it extensively. The recording quality was okay for a musical sketchbook, but my unit would lock up after about 2 and a half minutes of recording time, I'd have to take out the battery, and the recording would be garbage. I decided to return it and wait for some units with more features (recording level control mainly). Playback was nice though - and I found the software reasonably easy to use and install on XP. I didn't see any driver problems. The unit itself is small and convient to use and carry. It seemed pretty well-built for the price. It is what it is, a full-ish featured, low-end mp3 recorder.

Summary: Dirty but Decent
Review: Not exactly intuitive. User interface is pretty horrible. Takes some reading to understand all functions. Although the analog to digital conversion is impressive, it's difficult to use as a recording device. The mic on the thing is absolutely horrid, but when hooked up to self powered condenser it sounds darn good. I was disappointed that you can't see or control the level of the input for recording. One other down side is that it's not the most stable piece of equipment. I use it daily and about twice a week the thing freezes up on me and I have to resort to a hard restart (taking out the batterys for a min). Although their is a lot to be desired this is the only product on the market at it's price that gets the job done.

Summary: Installation was a breeze!
Review: My experience with installation was a breeze (I'm on XP). Perhaps POGO heard past complaints because 1. the regular documentation came with a very readable installation insert, and 2. the installation CD had relatively current releases (April 1, 2003). Following the installation guide and using the installation CD which came with the product, I had my RipFlash Plus working in five minutes, start to finish. Also, Pogo has included a rip app that you can use to convert CD files to MP3 and to retitle or name files as you wish. The combination of excellent functionality, easy installation, and an excellent value price, Ripflash Plus has my full recommendation.
