Rating: Summary: Don't Buy this Review: I bought this rio player and within 2 months the belt clip broke. I have logged tickets, called and emailed Rio 6 times but no one will send me a new belt clip. This is a big pain if you like to use it for sports. Speaking of sports. If you want to put it into hold mode you have to navigate through like 10 menu's to get to it. Save up and buy an ipod this is junk.
Rating: Summary: a great product Review: This is my first MP3 player. I bought it after doing a fair amount of research. After seeing all of the gripes about all of the brands I was worried I'd be throwing away $130 and my expectations weren't high. However, I'm extremely pleased with this model. I wanted an MP3 player for running and working out at the gym. The Rio S35S is the right size/weight and the belt clip/plastic holder works perfectly. (I don't understand why any MP3 player would be made without a belt clip but plenty of expensive models don't have one!) I found the whole set-up process very intuitive and didn't have to read the instructions/manual much at all. The FM radio works fine - in fact, the reception is better than the Sony sport radio I used before. I think this Rio model is great value for the money. I wouldn't want to spend more than $130 for something like this, and 128K memory is definitely enough for gym workouts, esp. if you use the Windows Media Player format.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Review: This is the perfect MP3 player. Lightweight and small, with a solid belt clip/case. A lot of info on the screen, no need to scroll back and forth. I use Real Player to manage my songs, and it loads to this unit like magic. Great battery life, too. I am a distance runner, and sometimes I use the arm band, sometimes I clip it to my belt, and often I just stick it in the pocket of my running shorts. All ways are easy, and going from one to the next is no problem. Stopwatch and clock are handy, too. I have had numerous other portable players before this one. Believe me, you will not be sorry you bought this unit.
Rating: Summary: Good mp3 player, but prayed that it will never break on you. Review: Paid $130 here @ Amazon. Had the S35S for a week now. Like everyone else, i did a lot of research and settle on this model because of features, price, and memory expandability. The player is awesome, good sound and LCD menu is easy to navigate. I mainly use mine for working out at the gym so it get used up regularly. Things that i don't like are: the technical support number is not 800. when i first install the software, i just install the one that they said were "requirement," mainly their music managnement software. so i was off downloading songs into my player. when i finished and tried to close it, the whole program locked up my computer. turn off, then on...then tried it again...same thing happened. Repeat the process one more time...same thing, but this time i'm getting blue screen from my Windows XP. DAMN! That when i called support, waited around forever for no answer. So i went online and search for more reviews, found some that had my problems. and TO FIX IT, you have to install the "recommended" software too. Pray that you don't have to deal with RIO directly. One other thing that pissed me off about this player is the case. i don't mind that it doesn't fit well w/ the arm band or it flop around on my arm, but the case doesn't quite fit the player and it's hard as hell trying to put it on and off, my thumb nail is really soared after the first day. Eventually, the case will leave scratches around your player and start to scrap off the red paint. All in all, good player...but RIO doesn't give a sh*t about the people who buy their product. Did they hired any monkeys to test these things out first?
Rating: Summary: Great Review: I just got the Rio S35S Sport 128MB and it is a lot easier to work with than my old Compaq Ipac PA-2. It is so easy to transfer music and switch between the internal memory and an added card. The other features, like an FM radio, stopwatch, and clock are very nice for working out. And at this price, they are nice extras. The screen gives you a lot of info on the music you are listening to, like time in the song, song name, artist and album, how many tracks you have, battery life, time of day, and volume level. The rubber outside is nice and easy to handle. A very good product from Rio.
Rating: Summary: POS! Don't buy! Review: Well, I researched MP3 players online and felt that this one was the best comprimise between price, weight, and storage capacity. I liked the set up and ease of uploading songs too. The problems! It stopped working on day 3 of using it! It was powering off in the middle of songs or when a button (volume, menu, etc.) was pushed. The online support said to fix this: download the latest firmware (ok, did that), and if it still 'locks up', reset the player by turning it off, taking the battery out, putting the battery back in, and turnin it back on! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Real technical solution. Well I had to do that every time I wanted to skip songs or change volume. Then it just quit powering on all together! I plan on getting another brand of MP3 player around 128MB built in with expandability or a Mini Disk player. Taking it back to Best Buy! My single experience with Rio has been bad, and for that price, it is not acceptable, so I am changing brands!
Rating: Summary: Sleazy company Review: I just got the Rio player and haven't used it yet because I am HOPELESS when it comes to anything technical so I have already messed up......I have had to call the Rio customer care and thought that it is EXTREMELY sleazy of them to have an 800 number for all SALES but you have to pay to call for all technical questions. How cheap is that when people have forked out so much for a player?!?
Rating: Summary: Good but you need to know how to use wma Review: The s35s is great but to get the full experience of the mp3 player you need to know how to convert mp3s to wmas. Use JetAudio, a media player for cpu, to convert the file types. if you add a 256 sandisc to the rio you can hold up to 123 high quality (96k cd quality) wmas. You can also make the wmas less quality and add hundreds more, but i put quality over amount.
Rating: Summary: I love it!!!!!!!!! Review: This player was a gift.It came with all the parts so I could start downloading music right away..downloading music was quick and easy.No long booklets to read.. The sound is great.. I would have given it 5 starts but I dont like the head phones.. I find that during a good workout they slide off My ears and I have to keep putting them back in. Besides that the player it self works great.. Buy Now!!!
Rating: Summary: extremely disappointed Review: if you are considering buying this player for any of it's alleged "sport" qualities, STOP. while it's a fine player in terms of music quality (although, i had the latest firmware and the FM tuner still [not good] - all static), it is constantly popping off of the provided arm band; the clip-on attachement is of incredibly poor design (especially for the price). while the unit looks rubberized in the packaging, it is really just a thin layer of soft plastic - no shock absorption at all. after a minor bump, the thing fell from my waist, and the LCD screen shattered. tell me, who isn't going to have this thing fall at least once if they are really using it for sport?
