If you are a MP3 enthusiast,listin to music in your car, or want music when working out/jogging then its a must have. If you are an occational PC user/Music listner, then this will collect dust in your drawer. This unit will have good deals as its being phased out by the Nomad II. So watch out for price drops Overall, Im satisfied. Enthusiast's, go for it, others, may want to wait for better pricing

Summary: Super cool
Review: At this price, it beats all mp3 players of 64mb. This little thing sure can do a lot of things and easy to setup. I'm just tires with my cd players, because cd's are too expensive. I didn't even bother to look at the other mp3 players : I wouldn't pay more for things tat does the same thing and I just can't believe how it's great. My friend has a Rio and there's no difference in the quality of the sound, just the price. I'm positive that people would pay more for better quality, but they just buy the most expensive one and they didn't even compare any mp3 players. With the difference of the prices to other players, you could buy more memry cards for it and it would be better.

Summary: Slow downloads, low battery time, no backlight
Review: Hey, compared to the Rio500's USB interface this sucker is slow as can be at downloading thru the parallel port! That's one of the most important features, if you ask me! And the rechargeable batteries only last 4 hours or so, compared to 8 to 10 for the Rio. It's nice to be able to keep plenty of batteries on hand instead of always making sure the batteries are charged. I guess if you can't afford the Rio 500, this is cool. The Fm radio is nice.

Review: I am not a big fan of MP3 players yet. I don't think they are a good value compared to a $50-100 cd player, or even a $300 CD burner. But if you really want an MP3 player, as my son did, this seems like good overall offering at the present time. We purchased the unit, and are satisfied with it. It is really tiny and light (about 2oz), and includes a decent FM radio, and ear buds. The internal rechargable battery will save a lot of money over time. The 64 meg comes from an internal 32m memory chip, and a removable 32meg card that is about 1 inch square. Each hold only about 30 minutes of music, unless you are willing to use smaller, low quality sound files. The removable chip is expensive, and looks easily damaged or lost. Handle it with care. The instruction manual was inadequate. Don't try to use the device at all until the battery charges in the base unit for at least an hour. At one point it seemed that the unit was broken, until I realized that I had accidently moved a sliding "button" (there is no indication that this slides) that is intended to manually lock up the controls to prevent accidental changes. The unit would have been better off with a USB interface instead of the clunky parallel connection, but the software and base unit installed without problems. Our printer connects to the PC with a USB connection, so I don't know what problems I would have had if I needed that parallel port for the printer, zip, or tape drive. The software is easy to use once you figure out how to switch between storing mp3 files in either the internal or external memory. Once we figured out how to use it, the unit worked well. The voice memo recording feature sounds like a potentially nice feature.

Summary: Excellent player - needs USB connectivity
Review: I bought a RIO 500 and returned it for the Nomad. The Nomad's rechargable batteries and docking station make it much easier to enjoy. You'll spend less time swapping out batteries and more time listening to music. I wish it had a USB (faster) connection rather than a parallel connection. Other than that, a pretty nice MP3 player.

Review: I bought the Nomad and began using it. I was very pleased with it and when I jogged or biked everyone questioned what this little device was I was using. Naturally, they became envious. However, I experienced problems with the flash card. I called tech support 6 times. All 6 times I recieved no help. So, I finally called Amazon.com who helped me greatly. BE WARNED...YOU CAN ONLY USE MP3 FILES ON THE NOMAD...this means YOU CANNOT UPGRADE IT IF MP3's become outdated. 64MB IS THE TOTAL MEMORY! I bought in exchange the Diamond Rio which has 64MB ONBOARD rather than 32MB on board and 32MB flash. Overall, buy this if you wanna use it for another 6 months to a year. If not, I suggest the Diamond Rio.

Summary: Best Affordable Player out there....
Review: I bought the Nomad yesterday, and let me tell you something, with allthose features in it you couldn't believe how small it really is. Thesetup is very easy, and I had songs on it in seconds. Now that the price has gone down...it's a great price for 64MB RAM, most MP3s out there that have 64MB go for more $ and don't even have the features that the nomad does, like the FM tuner, and the digital voice recording. if you want a MP3 Player, buy this one.

Summary: GREAT MP3 Player, probably the best on the market
Review: I carefully studied the various players available and you just can't beat the NOMAD. The Rio came in second in my personal review (I didn't buy one), but here's where the NOMAD's beats the Rio: 1) rechargable batteries with AC adapter - Sorry Rio! 2) Great software for PC/NOMAD interface! - Sorry Rio! My NOMAD has given several months of daily duty without a single problem. I have a few scratches and dings yet it still works like a champ!
