Summary: Good value for the money
Review: To start off with the mp3 player did not work, but after I fiddled aroud with it a little bit it starts working very well. Make sure the port mode is set to ECP and you can get a 4mb song in under 30 seconds. The voice recording is quite good provided you are quite close to the mic and the telephone book is an added bonus. The only annoying thing is that the player drains a lot of juice out of the batteries, so I would recommend rechargeable batteries. OTher than that for only $80 it's great value, and with another 32mb card for just $25 it's well worth it. BUY IT!

Summary: Great, just needs a little work
Review: I recently bought this Cambo Mp3 player so that I could listen to all my music anywhere, even during soccer. My first though was this thing woun't work, we'll, of course it didn't (if you have already read the other reviews). Mine had the little microphone jack problem (and yes it was in all the way) but, thanks to Amazons great return policy I was able to get a new one it about 8 days. Now this one works fine. This is a great product so I would buy it, not metioning the great price. Although it may not work the first or second time keep returning it. I also suggest downloading JazPiper 1.1.1.1 instead of using the provided software.

Summary: Cabo 64: Great Price, Medium Quality
Review: Specific likes: -Price (IMO, this is the biggest strength. A rebate is periodically available which makes this an even better value.) -Customer Service (My first player had blank LCD segments, but Best Data customer service promptly provided an RMA followed by and exchange.) -Size (Fits in my pocket during workouts) -Even better value after I added a Viking 32M Smartmedia card.

Specific dislikes: -Perceived durability (I'm pretty careful with my electronics so this is not a huge issue, but for a kid or someone rough on devices this one might not be for you. The battery door is particularly subject to breakage, as is the sliding door that hides the parallel port connector.) -Software (Encountered problems when selecting songs too large for memory - it let me do it then failed downloading. Also encounter periodic Cabo lockups upon disconnection from parallel port cable.) -Battery life rather short

Things I told to my girlfriend when she bought her own Cabo that I wish someone had told to me: -Set PC to ECP port. This is done from the CMOS or laptop setup before booting the PC. -Turn on the Cabo, stop the music after it starts, and plug in to the parallel port cable. I had trouble when I plugged in with the power off, then turned on the Cabo. -Manage your own memory when selecting songs. I put in a 32M Smartmedia card then selected and tried to download 96M of music. This was not a good idea. Select less than 64M and download to Internal, then select less than 32M and download to External. -There is much better ripping software than that which is supplied (esp. shareware or freeware).

Windows 2000 more information: -Download the JazPiper software from Best Data's web site. It looks just like the Cabo software but is Win 2K compatible. Also your Cabo will display jazPiper when it boots up. -I was getting a blue screen upon bootup when I set ECP mode. Solved problem by booting into safe mode, which subsequently updated the appropriate settings. I was then able to boot normally with ECP mode.

Summary: Good at first the only gets badder!
Review: I bought it at first hinking i got a good product. Then everything went wrong. First somethimes the volume would go to full blast for no reason! Then when i pulgged it in it said i only had 51mb insted of 64, then it would only allow me to use 33 of the 51 mb. DON't buy it. The only plus side is it has good online customer service.

Summary: Great Player, a few glitches, but otherwise AWESOME!
Review: Seeing all of the bad reviews here, you'd probably think this mp3 player isn't worth it, but it really is! I am a teenager, and, having a low weekly allowance, could barely afford it. But with the rebate, I could finally get the mp3 player i've always wanted. At first, the computer would not recognize the player, so we called tech support and they helped us. They told us that the player had a problem, and we might have to send it back. A few weeks later it happened again, but we figured out you just have to restart your comp. and do it again. Then, the worst thing happened, the music started coming out of only one ear phone. I sent it back to Best Data and they gave me a new one! The new one works even better then the other one! So it worked out fine, since the other one had TWO glitches in it. I REALLY love using my mp3 player. I can brag to all of my friends about it, since they have no clue what it is! It is awesome! Also, this player has, like 15 songs on it! You can't even get a CD w/ that many songs on it! And, its expandable to ANOTHER 64MB, so thats like 30+ songs! This player is really cool, and i'd recomend it to anyone!

Summary: Can't beat this deal with a stick!!!
Review: This Cabo player is great. I recently bought a Rio600 and a few weeks later bought this Cabo player for my wife. I now use the Cabo because of the 64MB of memory and I love it. I had this out of the box and was mowing the lawn to music in 10 minutes. I must say the review here did help get this up and running, but it was easy and it is a great player to invest in. I highly reccomend!!

Summary: I Can HELP You!!!
Review: Hello, I also have this Best Data Cabo 64 mp3 player, and I know that some of you are having several problems with it. If you have any problems, you can e-mail me, and I'll see if I could help you. I know how to change to ECP, and other stuff. Anyway, I like this mp3 player because it is good to me, and the price is fine. Bye!

Summary: The reviews sum it up....
Review: You get what you pay for. The first one I recieved was fine except I couldn't use the last 2-4 meg of memory. After a few emails with their tech support staff, they told me to return it. Amazon is great with excange/returns. Got my second one. The headphone jack problem in all the other reviews is real. I noticed it right away and found that the 2 halves of the unit were a little loose and you could jiggle it to play the left and right at the same time. Right now I'm waiting for my 3rd unit. It's funny going back and reading the reviews and having the same experience. Best Data has some serious quality control issues, if they have it at all. I'm hoping that if I can get one that works it will be a great deal. As far as design, it's great. I've used it to record meetings and play mp3's. It does feel a little light and cheap, but the nice thing is that if you are returning them you get a new set of batteries each time! If you wanna roll the dice, go with the Cabo, it's the cheapest out there, but of course, it's the cheapest out there.
