Summary: Piece of Junk
Review: Amazon recently sent me a raveMP player... It was defective, so I returned it. The next MP player didn't even have a mp3 player in the box when I got it... The customer service at Rave (Sensory Science) was terrible, plus it was long distance and they put me on hold, which made me none too happy. I'd recommned to someone willing to spend this kind of money, something with higher quality like the Rio player or the RCA player.

Summary: I'm in loooooooooooove!
Review: Everyone I know was talking about mp3 players, so I guessed it would be time for me to buy such a gadget... But living in Germany definitely has it's drawbacks, as I was unable to order any of the better players (e.g. Rio 500, Nomad, etc.), even when I tried at some of the countrys bigger electronic stores.

So, after informing myself about the various players there are, I decided for the RavePM 2100, and I haven't made the wrong decision. Soundquality, Handling, Design and Software are great and I'm really looking forward to using it.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
Review: IT TAKES AN HOUR TO DOWNLOAD A SONG. IT TAKES ABOUT TWO HOURS TO FIND OUT THAT YOU HAVE TO SWITCH A PORT WHICH IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. INSTEAD YOU SHOULD BUY A MINI DISC WHICH YOU CAN STILL DOWNLOAD MUSIC OFF THE INTERNET AND DOWNLOAD MUSIC OF A CD PLAYER OR RADIO.

Summary: Rave MP 2100 is all that it promises.
Review: I have read the other reviews and I am surprised at some of the users problems. I guess not everyone is computer savy.

I connected the parallel cabel, connected the MP2100, and loaded the software without a hitch. Ripped my own CDs at 128 bit (any lower and you sacrafice quality), dragged the new mp3 files to the appropriate window and I was all set. What is all the fuss about?

Sound quality on my own ripped mp3 files was great. The quality from the internet varies greatly so don't judge the play quality on someones elses mistakes. Stay with 128 bit rate when ripping and quality is on par with CD Rom.

The only gripe I have is parallel port connection versus USB. USB is a little faster but and a little less bulky but not so much that it is a problem. Just would be nicer with the USB. Also, you need to read the manual to perform the other functions. Not intuitive as someone else mentioned. Again, Not a big problem...just need to read (maybe that is the problem, no one likes to read direcitons).

Overall I am very happy. Nice features and a slim design. Hold button is nice and so is the external input and output. I give it a 4 out 5 flaming puckered stars. USB would make it 4.5 cause a 5 is almost unobtainable in my book.

Summary: Christmas Dream Come True
Review: Santa Claus sure knew what I wanted this year, and boy did he make a good choice. When I sat down to load this player, I was looking for some catch..something to make it harder than it appeared. There is no catch, you just drag the song and it is on the player. Snap. Poof. Done.

The only part I had trouble with was connecting the parallel port connection, and that is only because my computer is housed in a cabinet, and cannot be removed, so you cannot access the back too easily. I got out a mirror and a flash light, and after feeling my way around like a blind woman I got it connected. I opened the program, and after 20 min, I had it all done.

If you want an mp3 player, go with this Rave MP. It has so many other features I haven't even figured out yet..but I am sure I will use them all!

Hey all you little kiddies..make sure to ask Santa for this little gadget for Christmas next year!

Summary: The best price performance!
Review: Folks, for a first generation of MP3 players this gadget is great. Bought one with 64 megs for the same price most of the competition only offer 32 Megs. 64 Megs is about an hour worth of music which makes it a decent size. The bottons on this device are too close together which gets annoying if you're trying to work with it without looking at it, while jogging for instance. It only takes one measly AA battery and it's beautiful.

Summary: Terrible Customer Service
Review: I can't say whether this is a good product or not...I can't get it to work. Turns out its software won't work on Windows NT. They don't talk much about this up front; they only bury it in the fine print. While this might not matter to Win 95/98 users, the real concern here is customer service. When I contacted their CS, they first promised me NT compatability by "the end of November." No deal. Now they make no promises whatsoever, and don't seem to care if or when they ever will have NT software. Messages from their CS dept. come back terse, uninformative and not remotely helpful. And worst of all, in this day and age, there seems to be no activity on their website...no updates, no refreshments... just static. This company is not ready for prime time.

Summary: Okay for "convergence", not a great player
Review: This system is nice if you're into the whole "convergence" thing and want a device that does addresses, memos, etc., all on a tiny 2 line display. It also comes with a great pair of earphones. However, for pure MP3 playing, the interface is cumbersome, teh desktop software is annoying, the copy-protection is stupid, and it is incredibly hard to operate without taking the thing off of your belt and looking at it. The buttons are not intuitive, the interface is not easy to learn, and USB would be better than the bulky parallel cable.

Summary: very impressive
Review: Thing is very light but i woulnd't say easyto use. i had problems setting up the cable, but when i called theirtech support (not 800 num ) they were very helpful and helped me get it workin. one thing i noticed with my player is that when i have the cable connected to player, the LCD screen seems to have a dark background as in all the "lights" are lit, tech support says it shouldn't happen, but i'm gonna keep mine, not exchange it cuz its a hassle..... product was easy to transfer the mp3 onto player, just drag the file into other column, haven't tried their phone book or memo yet. the voice recording very neat, i love it! at the price i got i would say a STEAL!
