Rating: Summary: Awesome Product Review: This is an awesome product with many features and it is overallawesome with the mini hard drive feature and phone number storage notto mention better recording capabilities then my 100 dollar tape recorder. So if you have windows 95/98 then your in luck you should grab this product now it is a must have.
Rating: Summary: LISTEN TO THIS Review: This is quite simply the best product you can get. Well Ioversampled my CD's and put them on my Saehan MPMAN F-30 - anothername for the above product. It recorded at double speed for above CD quality on my machine (lowend). At work I can record at CD Quality at FOUR TIMES playback speed. This does have to connect to your parallell port, yes. But It Gives Awesome Quality In comparison to a minidisk (which I also own). This was my choice in MP3 player for its large memory size, Easy Interface and wide array of features. It was also more expensive when I bought It (about 3months ago in Korea) and I would still pay double. It is bloody brilliant. Buy now -- Oh yes, the reason that it doesnt support NT is because NT doesnt support the correct parallell port mode. The reason it isn't advertised as supporting Win2K is because that hasn't been checked (but I bet you it will 100%). Enthusiasts have written drivers for Linux.
Rating: Summary: cool looking but limited connectivity Review: The Rave MP3 player is cool looking and it does sound alright. What it lacks is connectivity. You cannot use it with Windows NT. You can use it only with Windows 95/98 (probably works with MS Bob too). It uses the parallel port (disconnect your printer here comes the MP3 player).
Rating: Summary: Compact and reliable, but inconvenient and too expensive Review: I have the 32MB version of the Rave MP3 player that I got as part of a promotional offer. I've found the sound quality to be quite good, and it's nice to have something so lightweight to commute with that doesn't require carrying around cd's or cassettes.But...there are a long list of things that they just didn't do well that make this gizmo a lot less useful than it could be. Windows NT not supported by software; Parallel port only (dunno about you, but the parallel port on my main computer isn't available, and they claim that splitters will not work well with this device); slow transfer of files from computer to the player (32 megs of music takes over 5 minutes); buttons are hard to distinguish by touch; easily turned on accidentally if you aren't vigilant about using the "lock" button; no integration with Real Jukebox (other players, you can just drag and drop music onto an icon for the player to transfer); earphones slip out of the jack a bit too easily. The software seems reliable and just barely functional enough. It's a bit poky. I've only had it mess up once. All in all, I expect a lot more from a gadget that goes for the kind of money that this one does. Still, if you're excited about mp3 players, the price on this one is difficult to beat, I suppose.
Rating: Summary: Good Value, could use better implementation Review: I bought this about three weeks ago. The software installed easily, and downloading .MP3 format music is a snap. I use 64kps encoding (I walk to work in a busy city -- the ambient noise level is high so I'd rather trade number of titles for sound quality). I've been very pleased with the sound quality and ease of use. The controls are relatively simple and intuitive, but some basic procedures -- setting the clock for instance -- could be made easier. The major downside is the constuction of the instrument. The battery case cover slips off from time to time and it does not seem to matter how I secure it. Sooner or later I'm going to lose that part. The overall feel is flimsy, but having said that, the fact is that it has bounced around in my pack for several weeks and been on several plane flights with out a hitch. Overall a pretty good value.
Rating: Summary: Good thing I got if free (buy a minidisc recorder) Review: I received this free from e-music. Mine did everything it said it would...not very impressive. They are essentially mini hard drives. It requires connection to a parallel port? Doesn't work with Windows 2000 or NT? This company is not thinking of what the customer wants, but rather what they can deliver at the cheapest price. I have a portable minidisc recorder which makes much more sense for recording. All the minidisc folks have to do is figure out how to interface it with the USB port so that you can download songs rather than record them. (it takes 74 minutes to record 74 minutes of MP3's rather than 20 seconds per song).
Rating: Summary: Need USB Review: This player is average. The player looks pretty cool and the music quality is what one would expect from a digital player. But it has a paralell interface is very cumbersome to use. There is really is no need for the address and phone stuff and is pretty useless at least for me. The software that comes with it .. pardon my french.. is very annoying... Their customer service is a nightmare, I had a problem with their annoying software and am living with it b/c their customer service had me on hold soooo long I just got bored of waiting. Overall a good player. I would like to return it but don't wanna pay the restock pick. I rec that you get a BRAND name that can support their product. I did some research and found out Sensory Science is a very small company worth about only 100Million (ticker symbol VCR) that has a very poor track record. That probably explains the poor service. I read some of the glowing reviews on this page which compelled me to buy this product. I suspect they are from shareholders of this company. If you can buy one from a name brand company that you know won't go bankrupt... RCA, Creative, etc.
Rating: Summary: RIO PMP300 Review: All I know is that my Rio PMP300 (32MB) is pretty durable. You can drop it from 5 feet and all it does is stop playing. It plays again after you press "play"
Rating: Summary: Teenagers know a good thing when they hear it Review: I bought this for myself for Christmas, and asked my 18 year old to help me set it up. Well, I understand it's a huge hit among all his friends, and, needless to say, it doesn't have 1 song on it that I would want to listen to. I'm going to buy a second one for me-these kids know if something is good or not!
Rating: Summary: LOOK OUT -- IT DOESN'T WORK WITH WINDOWS NT! Review: I think this is a well designed piece of hardware. Sound quality is great. Layout of menus -- great. Just one minor, itsy-bitsy, little problem that no one at sensory science or amazon.com bothered to mention -- IT DOESN'T WORK WITH WINDOWS NT OR 2000! It's not like there's some way around it. The software just won't install. At all. GOD, I'M SO FREAKING PISSED OFF!
