Rating: Summary: A good player for the money Review: I have owned this player for several months and have not had any problems with it. The sound quality is very good. If you plan on keeping this player for a while, the SD card slot can be extremely valuable. SD memory card prices continue to drop so you can continually expand this player to hold more and more music for less and less money. I just got a 512MB San Disk...and now the player can hold several CDs worth of MP3s / WMA files, depending on the sampling rate of your MP3s. If you maintain multiple SD cards, you can quickly swap them out for a new set of MP3s and not have to mess with deleting/downloading new songs into the player. Believe me, the importance of the SD card slot cannot be understated if you are looking for expandablity. All in all, it's a great, straight-forward, and compact player.
Rating: Summary: I enjoy this! Review: I just got this MP3 player today, and I'm really enjoying it. The only complaint I have is that it's supposedly compatable with Windows ME. I have Windows ME, and it will not work with it. I'm pretty sure it's probably something on my ME computer blocking the signal, or maybe it's because I installed the wrong driver the first 8 times :$ This player works great with XP (which I won't have until Wednesday), and I love how small and compact it is. It took me a while to learn how to make it repeat just one song though.
Rating: Summary: rca lyra Review: i just love this little thing, i wanted to be able to listen to music while i worked but did not want everyone to notice that i was jamming, the rca lyra is so small it fits in my pocket i did not like the e-clipz headphones so i bought a pair of sony ear plugs, now about the software it's kinda buggy but i use it anyway you can also use windows media player if you want but i stuck with musicmatch i was able to get 28 songs on my built in memory if i burn them as wma at 64kbps over all this is neat little gadgit... oh yeah it gobbles batteries but it only uses one AAA so that is ok anyways if you want a mp3 player buy the rca lyra
Rating: Summary: Works Great! Review: I love this little player - it works great, lightweight, the arm band is perfect for jogging, and I do like the ear phones that clip over your ear like glasses.I have Win XP and I just have to plug the player in and it's recognized as a media device. Then I just drag and drop files into the player with Windows explorer. I didn't even bother laoding the software that came with it. I've had it for a week, and the battery level display shows about 40% power. I hope this player lasts for a long time, because I love it, and it makes jogging more fun. If I encode my mp3's at 80kbits, I can fit about 30 songs on it.
Rating: Summary: Great mp3 player, perfect for running/working out Review: I love this small, compact mp3 player. I bought it primarily for use while running, and it's perfect. It comes with a sports arm band, but I just put it in my pocket, and it's so light you don't even notice that it's there. It holds about an hour's worth of songs (128 kpbs) with the on-board memory. Another plus is that there's no skipping. The AAA battery lasts a while too. I've gone running every other day for the past 2 weeks with the player, and still haven't replaced it yet. I haven't had the need to buy a SD/MMC card, but it's good to know that it can be expanded....P>I didn't have any problems figuring out how to use it. I use Mac OS X (can't speak for the PC side of things), so when plugged in via the USB cable, it showed up as a hard drive (mass storage device) on the desktop. I dragged & dropped my mp3s and was ready to go. It displays the ID3 tag info as well. It has fast forward, rewind, pause, skip, random play, repeat, all the basic functions. The only thing I would suggest is to ditch the included snap-on ear phones and get a different pair, but the sound quality is still pretty good. I highly recommend this player.
Rating: Summary: I use it for my workout Review: I recently purchased one of these and so far really like it. -The armband is wonderful. Spandex material with velcro means it hugs my arm tight without cutting off circulation. Plus it's small enough that it doesn't get in the way when I'm doing arm exercises. -The 64MB holds enough for my 75-90 minute workout, especially if I use 96kb instead of 128kb encoding for the mp3s. I do plan to get an add-on 64 meg card just because I have a gift certificate to use up. -The button locking feature is key. At first I forgot to lock it, and when I'd adjust the armband, I'd accidentally hit 'stop' or 'next'. With the buttons lock I set it playing and no problems. -I didn't even bother with any of the software it came with. Straight out of the box I plugged it into Windows 2000, it recognized the 'USB drive' and I dragged and dropped a CD of mp3s over. Easy as that. No need for the Musicmatch. However: -The headphones it comes with are awkward. I purchased a $5 pair of ear-buds and that works great. -The volume doesn't go quite high enough. I like it to blast so that I can't hear any outside noise. This only goes up to very loud, and not deafening loud.
Rating: Summary: Great for the price Review: I was looking to get rid of the bulky walkman when working out, so I started researching MP3 players. Although there are some with more memory, I only needed one that held about an hour of music, so I gave this one a try. They had them at the store I worked at, plus it was onsale, and I got an employee discount and it came with a $10 gift card, so I ended up paying about $50 brand new. Everything works fine, even the headphones, although they look funny on you while wearing them...the sound is great. The worst thing is that I have to listen on full volume, because it doesn't go up all that high. You need that if you want to drown out all of the other noise in the gym. Outdoors works better. If you are on a budget or want a first unit, buy a used one and go for it. I have had mine almost a year and no problems.
Rating: Summary: Small, easy to use, & inexpensive Review: I was pretty much a MP3 novice before purchasing the Lyra. I couldn't be happier with this unit. It's super small (great for exercising), inexpensive, and easy to use. I installed the included software and attached the computer cable and was transfering files and songs just moments after opening it. The sound quality is superb with plenty of volume. The 64MB is plenty for me -- about 15 songs, and contrary to other reviews -- I think the headphones are great! I'm really pleased after 4 months use. I've since researched other players and I'm happy this is the player I bought. Small, easy, and inexpensive.
Rating: Summary: Not a very durable product!! Review: I was very excited to get this player because of the reviews I had read. Man, have I been dissappointed!
I've owned two only to have both break within 2 months. The first one fell on the cement when the velcro on the armband gave out while I was bending over. The headphone jack on the second one went south about seven weeks after I bought it. The left speaker cuts in and out and every once in a while the player will stop playing music and replace it with a very high pitched squeal that won't stop until you pull out the battery. It doesn't feel very good on the ole eardrums!
I don't know if I just bought two bad units or if this is how they are, but either way I won't be buying anymore.
Rating: Summary: NOT FOR MAC USERS!! Review: I will never trust an RCA product again. On the package, this player claims that it is compatible with Mac OS. After having problems playing music that I had dragged to the player, I called technical support. They informed me that they didn't have instructions for Mac users and they prefer you to use Windows. When I told them it said that it was compatible with Mac, the support person informed me that "It's only possibly compatible with Mac. We prefer you use Windows." This is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard of. It's complete false advertising, and I'm furious. It's a waste of money.
