Rating: Summary: Faulty Hardware, Faulty Software Review: 1. On my player the forward/reverse switch is installed backwards which is frustrating and requires some getting used to when moving through the play list or radio stations. Up is down and down is up! 2. Does not remember the radio station setting when switching between the mp3 function and the radio. Stupid! 3. The software is clumsy and doesn't work much of the time. It's not a simple matter to copy tunes to the thing. Also frequently the mp3 player locks up so you need to remove the battery to get it to start again! Definitely, do not buy this piece of crap. Rating: Summary: Didn't work, went back Review: First off to connect to the USB cable you have to take the black plastic case off, dumb. Secondly, on my Mac running 9.1 with the iTunes plugin loaded, the device does show up in iTunes and I could drag songs to it but I couldn't get the thing to play any songs. They showed up on the player's screen, I could scroll to the one I wanted to listen to but nothing. Also, when I quit out of iTunes I'd always get an error, something about couldn't save the iTunes library... Oh, I could only drag songs one at a time also, kept getting an error. So. I tried it on my eMac running 10.2. iTunes didn't even see the device. I was going to try a SD card, dragging files to it but thought why should I spend another couple hours trying to make this work... Took the thing back to Target. Bottom line - I think it only works with iTunes v3? (had v2 on my older Mac, v4 on the eMac...I tried to get info from Virgin Pulse website (nothing) also tried to find firmware upgrade for it (again nothing, no reference on the website, only in the manual). Not a great experience.
Rating: Summary: Glad I bought it, thanks to the reviews on Amzon! Review: Firt off I must say I started not to purchase the VP-02 because it looks rather cheap. But I took a chance and I'm glad I did. I was pleased with the features it has, FM tuner, voice recording, 4 EQ settings, case with belt clip, ease of operation, the display is really esay to read and the ability to expand the memory was a big plus. You don't find that on most players. The software is great also, but I perfer to use Music Match to download my songs because I can select the song straight from my playlist without have to remember which songs I wanted to hear. The player software works great on XP too! no problem there. The Pulse 02 is a great little player.
Rating: Summary: I love this thing! Review: I bought this as a present for myself and I love it. I don't use a Mac Computer, so I have had no trouble with this device and my windows xp machine. The mp3 player radio has 25 presets. The radio tuner works so well, I can even pick up local colleges weak radio stations. The battery life is really good compared to how many batteries I was using for my portable cd player. The virgin software that comes with this thing is so easy to use. It also came with nice real one software that takes seconds to turn your CD's into MP3's. The mp3 player is so light, yet seems well made. It came with a wrist strap, a clip for your belt and a leather case. The earbuds are a good size and sound great. The blue backlight screen is cool looking. The sound on this thing is awesome. Depending on what you want your music to sound like, you can fit alot on this thing - I compressed my mp3's to 96k and I was able to fit 50 on it. I have made file folders for all the different artists. I have not used the sd/mmc memory slot yet. I think anyone who buys this player will love it!
Rating: Summary: Awesome little player Review: I decided to give the Virgin MP3 player a chance because it had the FM tuner option. This little unit performs much better than expected. I used a IBM compatible computer and installing the software and transfering music is a breeze. You can even install the Media Player plug in which lets you transfer music in the Windows Media player window. It comes with a nice little case with a belt clip, but you do have to take it out to connect the USB cable. The other feature that is fantastic is that the unit can accept and additional memory card up to 256MB for a total of 384MB. Thats a lot of music on such a tiny player. I'm surprised I'm so happy with this unit. I'm usually a high end buyer, (Sony, Panasonic, etc), but you really can't go wrong with this great little player.
Rating: Summary: This is pretty cool Review: I have looked at this mp3 player for some but of time, and i plan to get it, but i just wanted to make sure that is was compatible with my mac, and in fact. It is. But, i like this and all, but i can not figure out why it costs this much. I don't mean to criticize this mp3 player, but just about all the mp3 players that are 128 mgbs or so, and they are more than a $100. In the future I hope that they can go down to below that are of price, so it can be more affordable, and more appealing.
Rating: Summary: wanted to like it but no good with my PowerBook / imac Review: loaded itunes plug in, connected cable, turned on...nothing. Does not even show up, tried a million ways to connect it, still nothing. Dont get me wrong the player looks good but unless you just want to buy some thing that looks nice for your shelves stay away. Tech support says I must have bad cable or bad player but I have read many boards of mac users who have had the same experience.
Rating: Summary: Best FM and features in its class Review: Since I drive as a part time messenger all day I wanted a device that could let me follow the program I was listening to on the car radio. I also wanted to record programs for later listening or to let my wife hear something I thought might be interesting. I tried many different types of devices and none had a decent radio that would pickup without static or interference from the many stations in the Chicago area. The Pulse was the first to get clear signals that seemed to be strong wherever I drove. A bonus was the fact that I could record from radio and use it as a voice recorder for notes. It works great as an mp3 player and has sufficient volume and a quality set of earbuds. This player also allows changing the speed of play faster or slower for study of audible material. The software supplied is easy to use and the layout is attractive and practical. I have e-mailed Pulse that I would like to use 512 mb sd cards instead of the current max of 256 mb. Also I requested that they be compatible with Audible.com which at the moment they are not. They have responded to say that I should keep an eye out for a possible firmware upgrade that might resolve these problems. They responded within 24 hours to my e-mail. The display is attractive as well as being readable. and the controls seem logical to me. Another bonus is the leather case that seems quality constructed and a neckstrap with detachable clip. All told this is a very satisfying product and priced right. Nice job!
Rating: Summary: A worthy product Review: This was a Christmas gift from my parents and I was intially very excited. It is lightweight and comes with a snug pouch to slip it into which keeps it grime free and looking snazzy. The gray earphones are just okay, nothing superior, nothing terrible. The CD that accompanies the player works well and is easy to navigate. The controls on the Mp3 player took me awhile to get used to but now it's no problem. I do have trouble with the fast forward option because often, I will find that instead of fast forwarding, I have pushed the button too far and selected the next song to play instead. The sound quality is fantastic with uploaded songs but poorer with songs recorded from the FM tuner. I love the Voice Record option- record yourself reading poetry, that annoying neighbor who shouts at you, a baby's gurgle, anything and everything! The Voice Record option is also what lets you record songs from the Fm Tuner. My main problem with this player is the battery power sucks!!! It takes 1 AAA battery and if you buy a regular, non rechargeable AAA battery, expect about two hours or a little more of constant playing. That is NOT good for road trips, long boring lectures, or music lovers who freak out when the throbbing beat of rhythm stops. I solved that problem by buying Duracell rechargeable AAA batteries that last me about the same time and don't cost nearly as much money. A more minor problem is that the storage is not that great, I think the most I got was about 40 songs in all and of course if you love songs that are extremely long in length like classical pieces, then you can fit even less on the player. It would probably be better to buy the extension card that lets you store more but I haven't done that. All in all, this player has worked great for the past six months and I'm satisfied.
Rating: Summary: Awsome mp3 player Review: To answer the previous review i would try and fix the properties on itunes so that when you put a cd on the computer it dosn't put any prodection or security on it. If you put all of you cds on it that way it should work. For the review, i think it worked perfectly in every way and the only thing that is weird about it is it is the exact same thing as the mpio fl-100??
