Summary: Wonderful CD Player!
Review: The remote is definetly worth buying if you buy this player. The player has great sound and I lov the mp3 playback. I can fit 14 CD's onto 1! Its like having a virtual CD changer! It is really easy to use and the remote makes it even easier! It is very inexpensive and much better quality than the RIO version. It never skips. Infact, the CD completly stops when it is done reading. It stores it in its memory. The ID3 taging is great. It displays all of the CD information. I love the displays. It can be a little pricy but if money is not an option definetly get the C-DJ01 with the RM-MC11ELs remote control. If you do not want the remote, you do not need it, but it controls every single feature on the CD player so you do not have to take it out of your pocket when yuo want to change tracks. It is "nifty" as one of my friends said. I would definetly recommend it and it is worth all the money. I'd rate it 11 out of 10.

Summary: Good Buy
Review: This is a great cd-player. It has minor cons but the pros of the unit take care of that...

Pros
-Great Style/Looks
-Compact Size
-Long Battery Life
-Easy to use

Cons
-Price
-No Remote

I personaly do not really care for the remote. But for the price I think it should come with one. The cdplayer is easy to use...Past review said hard to press buttons? I dont know what that is about. The best thing to do is go to a store that sells it and check it out and see if you like it.

Summary: Great product!!!
Review: This is my first Mp3 player and I haven't had the chance to try other brands, so there's no way I can make a comparison between them. But I do have a good idea of what a good Mp3 player should be, and Sony has fulfilled most of my expectations.

The Sony Dcj01 was surprisingly light , it's only slightly bigger that a CD and about an inch thick. It takes about 20 to 30 secs to load Cds, it also has a 2 to 4 sec gap in between tracks. If you stop the playback, and as long as you don't remove the Cd, it will start on the exact spot were you stopped it, even if it's in the middle of a track. It plays audio Cds and Mp3 files flawlessly. I download a lot Mp3's from a lot sources, and so far, I've been able to play all of those that I've burned into Cds. It doesn't play back WMA files though, and I'm sure you've read this by now, it can't fast forward or rewind through tracks, but it does have a remote ...

Yes, this unit has a remote control. I'm not sure if the Sony D-cj01s in your area has a remote, I bought mine in the Philippines, and it had a remote with it. The remote is made of plastic, matching the silver color of the player itself, it's shaped like a thin lipstick about 2-1/2 inches long and half an inch thick. It has a one-line LCD display that is Backlit! It has all the functions of the player itself, so you can just set the player on hold, and fiddle away with the remote, it also has a small clip, so you can clip onto your shirt or your belt. The remote has a top that can be twisted. Twist clockwise and it plays, twist it again and it skips to another track, twist it in fast succession to jump through a lot of tracks, twist it counterclockwise and it starts at the beginning of the track again, twist it twice, it jumps back to the previous track, twist it a lot, and it jumps back through a lot of tracks. The top can also be pulled and twisted CW or CCW to adjust the volume control, and finally, you can stop the player by pressing the top. What this means is that you can fiddle with the player's basic functions without having to look at which button to push! It also has 5 other buttons that let you adjust the Display, Play Mode, Repeat/Enter, Sound, and Pause, and it also has a Hold switch.

What can you expect from Sony? The sound was phenomenal! There is no silent hiss, the bass felt good and heavy. Even with the volume turned way uuuuup, there was no noise distortion. All of my files have a minimum bitrate of 112 though, I don't know how it would perform with mp3's with very low bit rates. The Earbuds that came with it were pretty good, in terms of sound quality, but my ears gets sore after an hour or so... I think the earbuds were too big for me.

The G protection has two settings, so far, I've only used the first setting and it was more than enough, I've tried shaking it, jumping with it, running with it, it just won't skip!!!

The unit came with it's own rechargeable batteries, and the ac adaptor serves as it's charger, Neat! It can also use AA alkaline batteries. Sony claims up to 24 hrs. for Mp3's and I guess that's true, I've used this unit for about 13 hours, and the battery indicator is still at half.

Overall, I'm very very satisfied with this player, solid construction, nice design, high quality sound, unskippable G-protection, and a killer remote. Buy It!!!

Pros
Excellent sound quality
Excellent G-protection
Reads most Mp3's(I've still yet to encounter a file that it can't play back)

Rechargeable batteries included
Batteries can be charged by the unit itself
Stylish and functional remote with backlight

Cons
Can't fast forward or rewind through a song
Has a 2 to 4 secong gap in between songs(I think most players have this)
Can't read WMA files

Note
I think the Sony D-cj01s sold in Asia and Europe? has the remote and the rechargeable batteries included, while those sold in America do not. Of course I'm not sure about this, it might be better if you check it first before buying it. If this unit didn't came with a remote, I would probable give it a 3.5 star rating.

Summary: Very nice cd/mp3 player
Review: This mp3/cd player is really great in my opinion. I have put the albums i listen to most all on one cd-r and i think thats really cool. The mp3 cd's load pretty fast too.
Pros:
Good sound quality
Fast mp3 loading time
Pause button!![.]
Id3 tagging support
Also, the cd starts from where you left off as long as you leave it in there, so if you have one mp3 cd that you listen to all the time, it only has to load up once
Included AC adapter
cons:
no ff or rw on mp3 tracks

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: good but only for mp3 files
Review: This player is great for playing MP3 files. It looks cool and it works as advertised. I love how you can actually see the disk spinning and then spin down when you play mp3s. The flat metal back is perfect for attaching a cell phone belt clip.

The problem is the G-shock. It cannot be turned off. As is the case with most memory buffer anti-shock systems, the music is compressed with lossy compression in order to maximize the amount of music that can be buffered. There are two settings and both are compressed. Setting 2 is compressed so much that it sounds truly bad. I suspect that setting 1 uses the mp3 codec at 128kbps and setting 2 is at 96kpbs. That would explain the problem. It is obvious that Sony designed this unit solely as an mp3 player. The ability to play normal CDs is illusory. When you try, the sound quality is truly horrible. It will make any CD sound as "dead", as "lifeless", as "flat", as an overly compressed MP3 file.

If you only want to play mp3-CDs, then I would recommend this unit for its features and its overall coolness...
