Summary: Overall, I am quite pleased
Review: I just got this 4 my birthday and i love it. I cannot make it skip. I keep my cdplayers on top of my subwoofer which I plug them into. My old sony one would skip with every tiny vibration it made. I plug it into Micro Works from Cambridge Soundworks and I love that. The sound is excellent. Otherwise I am using the earphones that it came with and I like it but it is a little tinny sounding and the bass is lame. The fold up headphones it also comes with are sooo incredibly badly desiged. I might as well jam a popsicle stick into my eardrum. ... and I can stand em for more than 5 seconds. They look nice but screw em. I dont use headphones much anyway but i think i will now. I LOVE the display. It is the coolest thing ever. So easy to read, its like way bettter than a Game Boy pocket...just smaller. That and the 8 minutes of skip sold me over from the RioVolt Sp100. The FM radio feature works ok. I hate the radio quite frankly. From my room I can access 5 stations and hear 1 of em but it might be the location of my house. I dont give. The rechargable batteries are a dream come true cuz I HATE buying new batteries. I use the AC adapter mostly but its still nice. Its pretty easy to navigate but im trying to figure out how to make folders. I think I gotta learn how to use iTunes better. The remote is cool I might upgrade it to the LCD but it will depend on how offten i take it out of the house and how lazy I want to be. lIf ur looking at one of these def. buy them if you have a CD burner otherwise go get a $... cd player made by Audiovox and knock urself out. The user manuel is .... The computerised one is more helpful but not a lot. If your not good at figuring these things out ... and getting something simpler and less cool. Other than the manuel and the fold out head phones this thing is excellent and get off ur ..., fork out the $$$ (its WELL worth it even though I got it as a gift, hehehehe) and buy one. I have read some reviews that say it skips at the end of the song. Well its not the cd player. ITS THE CD U BURNED ...! ALL ITS DOING IS CHANGING TRACKS!!! IT DOES IT TO ME BUT THE CD PLAYER IS SO GREAT I ACCEPT IT! ...

Summary: The Best CD/MP3 Player Out There
Review: This was the best purchase I have ever made. It has all the features that you look for in a personal audio device. The backlit LCD display is beautiful. The navigation for the menus are easy to use and contain many different features. The player itself looks cool and has a nice texture to it. I love the different EQ settings, play settings, as well as the multiple formats it supports including MP3, WMA, and VBR. Its fully upgradable through firmware. It is the greatest MP3 player ever.

Summary: THe Best mp3 /Cd Player SP250
Review: This item is worth 10 stars. I love it. This item will NEVER SKIP! It contains tons of features including Sleep timer, Fm tuner and can play up to 1 thousand songs on one CD. You can even add extra bass. There is only one problem, the player seems to use batteries after a two days, thats my only complaint, but to make up for it A AC adapter comes with it so that you can continue to listen to music. The most shocking thing of all is that once you put an audio Cd in. It will remmember what track it last played. It has an adjustable eQ. The headphones are no good but that is no problem. It comes with a nice leather case to pretect it if it falls.
It recieves radio signals very clearly and 20 channel memory. The remote control works great. This prduct is very convenient. By the way if you order it from here, do yourself a favor and order it to be shipped by air package because ground packages takes way too long. I ordered it 12/20/01 and got it 1/4/02 unlees if you want to wait. But you must get thi item.

Summary: Great Product, Terrible User Manual
Review: This is the CD player of the future!
The fact that you can burn 10 hours of MP3s on a CD is great, and I was looking forward to picking this up for myself as a Christmas present. It has a ton a features and seems to be the best on the market. I've had the RioVolt SP250 for about a week now and I am very happy with my purchase.
The machine does everything as advertised. I'm not much of a jogger, so I'm not sure how well the RioVolt will hold up under those conditions, but the unit has yet to skip on me, and I've put it through some pretty rigorous conditions. The carrying case and remote are nice features and, as you've read in other reviews, they also provide two sets of standard earphones, so you may want to use your own 'phones or pick up some superior earphones for better sound.
The sound is very good, with presets and the opportunity to set your own sound (extra bass or treble). I also like the fact that this comes with an FM tuner and that you can control all of the units' many features through a pretty simple interface.
A word about the battery charger. When I first bought the player I followed the minimal instructions on both the "start up" sheet and the user manual about how to charge the batteries. It did not work. I bought new rechargeables and it still did not work. I visited their Web site and found no information about the battery charger. I called the Technical Support line and, after being on hold for close to 20 minutes, found out that they knew nothing about this problem. Only after doing additional reseach on the Web (thanks CNET Reviews!) did I discover the correct way to charge batteries. Both the one-page start up sheet and PDF, that is provided on the software disc, are terrible. Both documents provided the wrong information regarding the battery recharging process. ....

If you like music and the option to listed to your music in any of the CD formats currently available, then you'll love the RioVolt. The fact that it's upgradeable via firmware releases is also a plus.

Summary: thaughts from experience
Review: I was one of the first to bye and review the SP-250, and now I have had it for more than 3 months. I read the reviews that piled up here, and I tell you - the people who find wrongs in this product are absolutely wrong!... I have been intensively using it for 3 months, and I have found NO flaw in it! Those who appear disappointed could 1)have taken a defective unit; 2) CANNOT operate the unit, although it is very user-friendly but is also a great multifunction piece of technics and might appear confising. Nothing negative about the battery indicator or the charge/discharge function is true, neither is the myth that it jumps over to next mp3-s. Also, some people think it is the player's fault that it doesn't perform their low-quality music - think about that! The Riovolt's music quality is geniunly incredible! So I keep my opinion that this is the true number one cd-mp3 player. Sure!

Summary: Riovolt SP250
Review: This is a great product. First, the Pros. It comes with earbuds and headphones, a travel case w/strap, rechargeable batteries and charger, and firmware. Playback is great; some previous reviews say that sound is horrible; this is because they plugged their headset into the wrong slot. MP3 playback is as good as normal playback. FM radio is excellent. The equalizer really makes a difference. This thing has, like, 500 different shuffle modes too. A very advanced player. My only complaint is that it comes with garbage for instructions. You have to go to the support site and work your way to the online manual for good instructions. The LCD has a nice backlight and while you usually cannot see a song's whole title, it will scroll by in a second. I would not reccomend jogging with it, though, as it has no real good place to hold it and has a slick covering. You will probably want your own headphones.

Summary: The absolute best there is in MP3/CD equipment
Review: I've purchased this for christmas, and even though i have not taken it outside yet, i am QUITE impressed. Improved backlighting with the option of Contrast levels of backlight, Improved navigation and setup ( At first it looks a bit intimidating but after about 5 minutes, you get it ), The Remote is very cool ( Remember! before you buy it spring for the LCD remote at Sonicblue.com, 30 bucks is well worth it. Iriver includes it and sells for the combined price of both. Same thing ) I love the new carrying case. Visable buttons and LCD display. It takes only 5-8 minutes to master the player's controls. I LOVE the new Earbud headphones, but the fold-ups can go :( . Since the lid has an amazingly cool finish it would be in your best intrest to keep oils away from it. I URGE you to buy this product. This is the best intrest for one with around 200 mp3's or 300 wma's, a cd burner, and a pocket that is short in depth. Sonicblue, hat's off to you.

Summary: The best MP3/CD player
Review: This is by far the best Mp3/CD player on the market. Its ease of use, sound quality, capacity, battery life, and compatbility are simply the best. This device even reads MP3's encoded in variable bit rate (VBR) format, a feat not many other players do. At first I was intimidated by the plethora of options available with the menues, but within 5 minutes I was able to figure out how to customize my player exactly to my needs. (Which was necessary because the users manual was just one large piece of paper, but since the machine was so easy to use the instructions werent necessary) They thought of everything when they designed this machine from the included rechargeable bateries to the display to navigation menus to the 8MINUTE ANITSKIP memory to the FM tuner, the features list goes on. The only thing worth wishing for is an included LCD remote that displays song titles. They do sell one on the sonicblue website so I think it is worth spending [amt] dollars for this extra feature even though it would have been nice if it was included. Overall this is an excellent product and I reccomend it to anyone looking for a high quality MP3/CD player.

Summary: What a joke.
Review: This is supposed to be the great Riovolt Player? I bought it like most everyone else here because I was dazzled by its feature and its Anti-Skip. Welp lets see what I dislike about it.
1. The packaging is damn near impossible to open.
2. The User Manual is a 1 sheet fold out that tells you basic function and nothing else.
3. The default settings are the most annoying thing in the world
with defaults on Fade In (which fades into the first song)
4. The Headphones are substandard at best and sound awful The collapsable ones makes every record sound like it was recorded in the 50's. The ear-in buds are okay.
5. The Anti-Skip is a total joke. First off it doesn't work. I could keep thing thing perfectly still and give it the slightest tap (imagine when your typing not even pushing the keys down just touching the keys) and it will start to skip. I understand this thing wasn't made for jogging but it skips when your just walking. If you jostle ever so slightly by walking with it in the carrying clip on it comes with it skips. Just walking. And we're not talking about a minor skip we're talking a good 20 seconds before it recovers.
I won't comment on the MP3 and the playing of burned CD's because I haven't a probably will not try.

The Good:

Th FM Tuner was actually very good
And the remote control was actually very good itself

I hope this helps someone because I'm probably going to return this thing.
