Summary: Believe the other reviews. This player is terrible!!!
Review: I wish I had read these reviews before I bought this MP3-CD player. I saw it in Circuit City and thought that it had a lot of features I liked, so I purchased it. What a big mistake!

Problems:
o Skips on regular audio CDs (even when sitting still)
o Skips and pops when playing MP3 files
o Jumps from one MP3 file to another IN AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FOLDER (?!!)
o Fails to recognize folders (showed strange Japanese characters)
o Fails to recognize some MP3 CDs AT ALL!

I've only owned this player for a week. How could I have encountered this many problems in such a short time? I actually exchanged the player at the store today because I thought I had a defective unit. From reading the rest of the reviews, I realize I have a defective product.

Don't touch this player with a 10-foot pole. I'm returning this player tomorrow and getting the iRiver SlimX iMP-350 CD/MP3 player instead.

Summary: Best RioVolt yet!
Review: I don't know why everyone out there is giving bad ratings to this wonderful machines. I just purchased one and I am astounded by its features. Compared to the RioVolt SP100, this thing rocks! I recommend it to everyone reading this.

Summary: Nice idea, but.......
Review: Have been looking for a cd/mp3 player and was waiting for prices to comes down. Lo and behold, the Rio SP350. Price dropped from $110-120 down to $60.

Using the unit for about 2 days now and am completely unsatisied with the performance. Here's why:

1)no detailed instructions. How do i set presets? Must go to the website, upselling stinks
2)Once on the website, there is virtually no support beyond the manual, no firmware upgrades, etc, disappointing. It appears that Rio/Sonic Blue is moving toward a strictly digital future.
3)It sk-sk-sk-skips when used during what most would consider normal walking, no sudden movements, just attempted to play and audio CD
4)LCD display is buggy. Often, Japanese characters are displayed. Only way to clear is to turn off completely.
5)Remote is minimally useful. You never really know what you'll end up with. Minimal explanation of function. Also, the first few times I used it , it seemed to function fine. But soon, it would not activiate the player.
6)The FM reception is marginal at best. Almost lost completely inside buildings, unless stations happen to have strong signals.
7) The case makes swapping out CDs a chore, as the player must be completely removed from the case to open it.

Overall, I love the idea. But perhaps I should have read the reviews here a little more closely. I most likely would have avoided this product, even with the price drop. Will be returning it very soon.It is worth remembering that cheap isn't always a bargain.

Summary: Patience will prevail
Review: After seeing the mixed reviews on this item I still decided to purchase the SP350. I want to start by saying that this item still sells for over a hundred dollars with tax at the stores I have seen it for sale in, with tax it would have cost me 118.00+ at Circuit City, that's exactly double the Amazon price.

I've only owned the SP350 a few days but I am already very happy with it, I have not experienced problems with skipping, but I do as suggested and burn slow. It takes like 10 minutes at x2 write speed, but I doubt anyone is so impatient that waiting an extra 6 or 7 minutes is an ordeal.

Considering it's better than average file system software, it's sound quality and it's sturdy outer casing which has already survived my daughter pulling it off our kitchen table by the headphone cord,(As a side note, it thankfully was wearing the protective case. The worst that happened is the cd popped off the spindle inside the player) it is light years above the similarly priced competition.

With the included car kit, rechargeable batteries and ac adapter I actually saved an extra 20 or 30 dollars I would have paid for the accessories alone, and again, the sound quality is excellent in my opinion with no skips noticed yet and I use mine in my car, during my drives to and from work.

I will try to remember to edit this review with an update after a few weeks more usage.

Summary: so far it works great
Review: My brother ordered one from here a couple weeks ago and it works fine so far. even took it on a couple long drives with the car kit and worked fine. i have a SP100 (psx100) model myself and i would have to say that this model is much better (build quality and size). it seems to play just about everything i throw at it, even old cdr (and cdrw) media with mixed audio and mp3 tracks on it. read times are fast as well. sounds like the mixed reviews could be from a different batch. i'm not sure i'd take it jogging tho. price is prolly down to compete with everything else out there

things i wished-
regular AA batteries instead of the sticks
ear buds
firmware update for timer, etc...

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: The tremendous drop on its price explains why I said that this product was a disaster. It skips a lot and there's bugs on LCD, bascilly it does not do its main job, to produce high quality music.
I am really sorry for this product, although I think the design is very nice. I wonder why RioVolt would release such product, they are losing their customers' trust.

Summary: Stay away
Review: Same thing as other people said. This player blows. The two star rating is there for a reason. Don't touch this player with a 10 feet pole. I guarantee it.
I packed it right back in the box after trying it out for an hour. It simply, sucks.
