Summary: full featured, low price, with problems
Review: I bought this camera because I wanted to plug in an external microphone. As with most camcorders, the built-in mic is awful. This camera has a lot of machine noise to boot. The external mic I bought works great; I think it's necessary if you want decent sound. I would have had to pay at least [X] more just for this capability.

Performance is in line with price however. The focus often seeks on its own during recording. If you need steady pictures of objects at fixed distance (could be infinity), use manual focus. Every time I plug in the charger, the custom settings are lost. I couldn't believe it, as this happens if your battery is low and you plug in the charger while recording! There goes your white balance! I returned one camera but found the same problem with the second. Samsung confirms that this is "normal." It's unacceptable IMHO, but you can work around it.

If you can live with the shortcomings (I can) go for it, otherwise spend more and get a Canon or Sony.

Summary: Great Value for the price
Review: The Camcorder has all Basic and important features that a digital camera should have. Its easy to transfer video to PC and play video on TV. The Camcorder has everything I need to get started on making digital home movies. I also bought a light attachment from samsung accesory store for low light indoor shooting. The date does reset to Jan 1, but thats a minor hitch.

The video quality is very good. Optical zoom is good too, haven't used digital zoom yet. I don't think i'll need it, 22x is sufficient.

I would say its a great basic digital camera to get started with. So if you are ok with limited but all important digital features definitly go for this camera. Its easy to operate.

Review: I have to say my Samsung SCD-67 Mini DV camcorder DOES WORK WITH FIREWIRE AND MAC. I've been editing my tapes on Mac from day one and haven't had a problem. "Blue Dalmation" iMac 500mhz/20Gig HD, OS 9.1 & iMovie 2.

Summary: The Lowest Priced Mini DV Camcorder Ain't Half Bad!
Review: I produced a local cable access TV show and was looking for the lowest priced Mini-DV camcorder possible. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a Canon GL-1 from the TV station but I wanted my own camera. So, I looked and looked and finally found the best quality camera, with the best features at the best price (sub $300) right here on Amazon! It's been a year since I bought it and I STILL haven't fully utilized all it's capabilities. Partially because I can edit tape on my firewire equipped Mac w/iMovie 2 and thus don't need any of the in-camera editing features. The other reason I haven't used all the SCD-67's features is because it's SO CONVENIENT to simply point and shoot and ALWAYS record pretty decent images. My images will get even better once I start using the camera's features! It's not a sophisticated 3 ccd camera, but it's easy to use, you can grow with it, it's very reliable if you don't abuse it, and unlike some much more expensive cameras, the tape eject opens from the top THE WAY IT SHOULD! Oh, and what other camcorder offers a 22X OPTICAL ZOOM??? I drool over the GL-2, XL-1s and the others, but my Samsung SCD-67 is gonna be with me for a long time, I'm happy to say. The MAJOR drawback is the lack of a headphone jack, which means your audio quality will remain a question mark until you get back to the editing bay. One way around that is an add on Beachtech adaptor or the use of an audio mixer which has a headphone jack. Great little cam!

Summary: Good camera for a low price.
Review: If you want professional looking video, than this camera IS NOT for you. The people who are writing all the negative reviews are trying to use an entry-level camera for elaborate filming. This camera is not made for that. If you just want a basic, easy to use, camcorder for simple home movies, this is the camcorder to get. It's very affordable and does a good job. I have had no major problems with this model. There is some minor noise when you zoom in/out. I have had no problem recording audio. The date/time stamp does not automatically reset. Only resets if you let the battery run out completely. Battery life could be better(lasts about 1 hour on full charge). But you can get a better battery at Radio Shack. This is a solid camcorder at a good price. You can use it with most software programs like Premiere, After Effects, etc.

Summary: do not buy this camera
Review: this camera is not compatible with a mac. it says it is on their website and in their owner's manual, but once it is at home, it won't work. i have contacted samsung three times, and have had little or no help. a manager was supposed to call me back (this after I had sent the camera off to be worked on) but i still have not heard from anyone. and that's been over two months. i am tired of trying. this camera is ok at filming, but does not work when trying to edit on a mac. save your money and buy another brand!!

Review: Yay! my brand new camcorder has come in, now all I have to do is open the box, and record, capture, and burn. Not that easy. I got to the recording part ok, and it worked perfectly for at least the first month or so. Then it started to act strange. First of all i noticed a small humming sound when ever it was recording and it also made the noise in playback. Well then we went to Peru and I took my S-CD 67 to do a documentory, and it worked great except for that little humming sound, but i got over that soon enough. Then i got home from Peru with 3 tapes of raw footage. Iwas very excited to just sit down and eidt it, well i got all through with cpaturing the footage then i noticed that i couldn't hear any audio. Well long story short, it turns out that my S-CD 67 doesn't transmit audio at all through FireWire. So I just captured it through analog capture, and the quality was sub par, but i could live with that. Well mext thing you know my brother's wedding rolls around and i was going to set up my camcorder to get an additional shot, to go along with the videographers shot. After the wedding and the reception, I get home and I get ready to capture it and the picture is terrible. The picture looks as though you had painted the shot with water colors, and then you immediatly held painting upright and all of the color drained off of it. So then I just call the Samsung Technical Support phone number which is 1-800-726-7864 (you will be calling it a lot if you decide to buy this product) and they tell me that after the first three months you have to pay an additional [money] for some company to hold on to your camera for over a month just to determine that your camera is not repairable, and send you a knew one. I'm 15 for god sake I can't aford ... extra [money], I don't have a job. I would like to say a brief thanks to Samsung for being a real sport about their own product screwing up. They also were cooporative in their polocies.

BOTTOM LINE
Buy this camera only if you are willing to spend an extra [money] in the near future.

If you want real quality go with either Sony or Canon.

Review: I bought this camcorder two years ago, and it's needed to be repaired twice. Now the LCD monitor is broken. Samsung customer service is extremely poor and built around avoiding honoring the warranty at all costs

Review: Quite difficult to use, and video quality is among the worst I've seen. (Many pro reviews online agree.) Go with a Japanese model; I like Sony the best.
