Summary: static equipment damage hazzard
Review: My receiver worked fine until I started adjustng the FM wire loop antenna. One end of the 'T' touched the TV screen, where static electricity is always present to some degree. I heard a small snap sound, like when my hand touches the screen (no current so it is not hazzardous to your health), and the receiver stopped receiving the station I was tuned to, and from there on only picked up one station. Not only that, but my directv RCA receiver box to which the receiver is connected via audio cables failed and I had to buy another one, along with returning this receiver for a replacement. Considerng other reviews here, I would dinitely not recommend buying this receiver, even if the price is low.

Summary: Just average
Review: This is an OK 2 channel reciever, however, the KLH R-3100, which is also 100 watts per channel, seems to have much better audio quality for about the same price.

Summary: Possibly dangerous product - be careful
Review: This product sounded very good, and had some nice features like
an easy to use remote. But, within a week it had shorted out and
destroyed two speaker systems. Loud explosion in house, smell of
burning circuitry. Obviously, no output protection circuits. I am trying to get through to Sherwood, but they have not responded to phone calls or e-mails for almost two weeks and I am preparing to take my complaint to appropriate consumer protection agencies.

Summary: Beware -- could turn out to be very expensive
Review: This product worked well for a week - nice remote, decent set of inputs -- and then it short circuited and blew out my JBL and Infinity speaker systems. The blow-out occurred at a time when the receiver was powered on, but in a low volume state and not being used. The short circuiting was accompanied by a jackhammer-like sound in my living room, and a burning smell. Obviously it did not have output circuit breakers to protect speakers -- a common feature on receivers.

I have had no success in contacting the manufacturer via its customer service telephone or e-mail to see if I can be compensated for the damage done. As a long time audio user and Sherwood customer, I would have to say that one takes a real risk in using this product.

Summary: Competent
Review: Unless you are an audiophile,I believe this is an excellent receiver. True, it is very basic, but for the price you can't beat it. I wish it had an AC plugin in the back and a reverse speaker phase button.
