Summary: Great Buy On Excellent Binoculars!
Review: I believe this to be one of the best buys in binos. The optics are great:
1) Porro prisms provide for a more realistic viewing depth of field.
2) 50mm objective lens (superb light gathering capability).
3) Good focus adjustment.
4) Great 16x magnification (product of the light gathering ability)The unit is very well constructed and has a rubber outer skin. It also comes with a decent carry case and accessories. Make sure you want 16x magnification, as it will require steady hands. Lower magnification (10x, 12x) with a 50mm objective lens will provide a wider field of view. You may wish to take this into consideration depending on your type (preference) of viewing. BTW- I also own a $2000.00 pair of 18 x 50 binos.

Summary: Helpful info to get you started
Review: I bought this item to go nature viewing and must say that it really is a great binocular for the price. The items viewed have a really nice 3-dimensional look to them and the diopter comes in handy even for someone with very bad vision like myself. The focus for this model (16 x 50 Wide Angle) is a flat tab between the barrels that makes it VERY convenient to use without having to look or stretch your fingers. It gives a very nice field of vision and has roll down eye cups, which is good just in case you want to wear your glasses or shades. The binoculars do shake a little b/c of the power of the magnification. And it can be a chore to hold for long periods of time b/c of its weight. It weighs about as much as one of Michener's hardback novels.
Here is where it can get interesting. The binoculars come with a pleather carrying case, a really cheap neck strap that looks like a plastic shoelace, and a cheap cleaning cloth that is way too abrasive to be used everyday. I suggest replacing both the neck strap and cleaning cloth as soon as you can. The soft, microfiber cloths they sell in eyeglass stores works great. Plus, pick up some of the eyeglass cleaner (spray directly onto cloth, not lens) as it really gets the lens clean and protects any coating on the glass.
Tripod use: highly recommended to get a steady picture. You can get a regular camera tripod for around 18 dollars. Yes, this binocular comes with a tripod adapter. No, it's not very easy to find. The instruction booklet is virtually useless, but I found out through the website that the adaptor is located behind the front cap between the barrels. Just screw the cap off and viola, there is your threaded coupler. You will still need to get a binocular adaptor to connect the binoculars to the tripod, but I've found that they aren't too expensive: around 7-16 dollars for the generic models. I gave this item 4 stars b/c of the poorly written instruction manual and cheap accessories. Hope some of this info helps. Can't wait to see the stars tonight!

Summary: 15 x 50 Bushnell - Absolutely Great!
Review: I bought two pairs of 16x50 Bushnell (one for my wife and another one for myself) before our Safari trip into Tanzania. They are superb. I can not imagine an experience in a Safari without these binoculars.

Summary: Excellent for astronomy
Review: I purchased my 10x50 Powerview binoculars ... after using a pair similar to these (Bushnell Permafocus 10x50). I liked the quality of the Permafocus, but not the price or the lack of focusing adjustment...you'll need it eventhough the are "perma-focused", so I decided to buy the Powerview. I'm glad I did because they are built better, have a slightly better case, and you can see objects that are closer, something that the Permafocus is not capable of. Initialy, Bushnell was not my first choice, but after research, they were my only choice. Buy these binoculars for the quality, price, lifetime warrenty, and ease of use. One thing to keep in mind about high power binoculars, you may want to think about getting a tripod and adapter (I made one out of a piece of angle-iron) if you want to see a steady image. Lastly, if you are just getting into astronomy and can't decide weather to get a higher power than the 10x50's, I'd say start with the 10x50's for the field of view and the more stedy image, and then if you still want more power get the bigger ones (Bushnell 16x50 Powerview are available at Target for around not much more than these 10x50's are priced at...worth checking out).

Summary: From someone who knows nothing about binoculars!
Review: I was reading reviews on these binoculars, and I thought it would be nice to have a pair. All I know about binoculars is what 16x50 means. That's it. I love nature, so I love to look at things. I have spent about three days trying to "work" these binoculars, and I finally figured it out tonight! I gave them 4 stars because the carrying case and strap are not very good quality. I don't really like the cheap rubber-like lens caps. After a lot of use, I can see that they will be useless.
As for the binoculars, they are great. I can see things around the yard really close. Great for watching the birds!!! :) I also wanted to test them to see what I could see of the moon and stars. I figured out that if I turned the focus knob clockwise and push the square-looking thing in the middle with the right side pointing up--- you can see a very clear image of the moon. You CAN see the craters. I even looked at several constellations. I don't know many names specifically, but I could see all the stars from one that was hard to see with the naked eye. It was awesome!!! You really need to have steady hands to see well. My hands are pretty unsteady, but I could see enough to make me happy. I think a tripod or something for these would help.
Overall, I think this is a great pair of binoculars for the price. I'm glad I bought them. Just think of what you could do if you know how to use them! :)

Summary: Poor Quality - stay away
Review: The focusing on these binoculars is HORRIBLE! The right eye focus was very touchy and would not stay in one place. I had to choose between the left eye and the right eye as they would seldom both focus at the same time. The Insta-focus would move on its own. This is the most disappointing Bushnell product I have ever seen!

Summary: Bushnell 12 X 50 Wide Angle Powerview Binoculars
Review: These binoculars are clear as a bell! So easy to use - just point and focus! That's it! There is no zoom feature, just a 12 times closer view. The "Field of View" is 265 feet, which translated means that at a distance of 1,000 yards you can view a 265-foot width. They are comfortable to hold, lightweight and excellent for bird watching, hunting or field sporting events! To store them in the nicely padded, soft carrying case, there is no need to readjust settings. When you need them again, just take them out, remove the barrel caps and you are where you left off! These are good quality, inexpensive binoculars. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Review: These binoculars are really great. We have a pond behind our house and they work just fine for that application. I haven't had the chance to use them in the field, so I cannot make a recommendation for hunters, bird watchers, etc.
My only regret is only having one pair!

Summary: Great binocs for the *PRICE*
Review: Took a chance buying the 12x50's at Walmart. Nothing to lose, can always get refund. Worked out surprisingly well. Only fault I could see was stiff center focus compared to most binocs I've used with smooth center wheel. But once your focused in you won't lose it. Some reviewer's stated *junk*. Ones they received must have been out of collimation or defect in lenses or prisms. This happens sometimes with best of binocs. Some fuzziness around edges but object should be centered for best viewing anyway. Right eye diopter works excellent on 0. I've seen my share of bad & good binocs over past 20 yrs. of being involved in optics.They're as sharp centered as my 12x50 Pentax PCF V's. Spend the $43 or be totally happy with Fujinon's, $600 to $1000 pricetag. Even Orion Nebulae comes in sharp. Even a plane mile up engines, windows & tail logo easily spotted, you be the judge. Great all-around binocs.
