Summary: Adds a lot to my listening experience
Review: I upgraded to a surround sound receiver (mainly because I needed it to switch between s-video inputs), and decided to add some cheap surround speakers including the KLH center channel and subwoofer. I've been very happy with the results. I'm not an audiophile, but for my fairly simple needs, it makes a big difference to have the subwoofer, and I've never heard any signs of distortion or anything like that. I like the feature where it auto-senses when to turn on, so I don't have to worry about turning on/off another component. It just works.

Review: I was skeptical at first because of the ridiculously low price, but it does exactly what is claimed. It goes very deep and is very clean. It does make a thump when it comes on, so when playing music lacking significant bass for more than 5 minutes at a stretch, it is best to defeat the auto-off feature, so that it will not automatically shut off and then come back on during the music. A trivail drawback once you figure out how to get around it. Several people advised me that a subwoofer so cheap could not possibly be any good. Absolutely not so. Unless you want to fill a stadium with thundering bass, this little puppy is ample.

Summary: Great sub for the price
Review: I would have to agree with the majority of the reviews so far. This is a great sub for the price. Easy to install (I guess depending on the receiver). Could not really notice a huge difference when watching TV, but noticed a huge difference when playing a CD. It really shined when watching Star Trek: First Contact on DVD when the Borg Cube is first shown. The bass completely shook the room when the cube flew by. The main reason I bought this sub was for the future release of Jurassic Park on DVD so I could have the full experience of the T-Rex. I am not a complete audiophile, but if you have an opened area room , you will not be disappointed with this subwoofer.

Review: I've had this model sub for over 4 years - I'm amazed it's even still available.That being said, it's adequate for a [price] for use with a *small* stereo system. Don't expect it to perform a miracle on a [price] surround system. The bass is adequate, but frequency range is narrow and "thumpy" lacking detail. Tends to make a system sound like a boom box. On hardwood floors it's a good performer but too small for carpeted rooms. Both the frequency cutoff and volume are adjustable. But the controls are rear mounted and placement of the sub can make accessing the controls difficult. The remote controls provided for newer models are far more convenient. As others have noted the "auto power on" feature is flawed and produces an annoying THUMP when your system is turned on. It's better to disable the feature, although that leaves the sub drawing power on a constant basis. I cannot figure out, as one other reviewer has noted, if an apparent lack of bass on occasion is a "feature" or a technical problem with the auto power off. Every so often I find myself putting an ear to this sub to check if it's powered on or not. Some times the bass is barely audible. At those times, even with the "auto power on" feature disabled, I have to flip the power switch off and on again to get the sub to function. It's great for my sister's stereo but I wouldn't buy another one. If you want a hundred bucks worth of sound reinforcement for a weak, low end system - it's a good buy. If you want something that sounds really good - look elsewhere and spend more. Especially for a unit with a remote control.

Summary: Perfect match for mini-systems
Review: Last year I purchased a mini-system (Kenwood NV-301) to create a smooth atmosphere in my living room. It has a nice contemporary design that can attract to anyone; unfortunately its sound quality (absolutely no bass is heard throughout the speakers) is worthless the $500.00 that I paid for it. Some months ago I choose to add it up a KLH PSW8100-8 subwoofer and now the sound of the mini-system is outstanding with rich, clear and deep bass heard in any place of the room. The hook up is ease and is done in a few minutes. Its compact size allows you to hide almost anywhere. If you have a mini-system(any brand)and wish to enhance its sound, be sure that this great subwoofer will be the perfect match for it.

Summary: KLH PSW8-100 Subwoofer
Review: Rarely do I purchase any product that so delights me that I feel compelled to write the manufacturer about it. The KLH PSW8-100 is one such product. In an effort not to disparage the products of three other well known companies whose subwoofers I also tried, all of which were considerably more expensive, I can only say that for the money, I could not be happier with this product. The minor problem noted by others regarding the auto-detect switch is true but it is easily eliminated, as suggested, by setting the switch to the "ON" position. It is also true that the base does not appear to kick in until your receiver's volume is set to a moderate level; however, I paired this subwoofer with 4 of KLH's extremely affordable 970A's and found it blends beautifully with them. The sound they deliver together is surprisingly warm and rich across the entire sound spectrum for both movies and music and I can not imagine being any more satisfied if I'd paid ten times as much for my system. The volume and crossover controls, which are quite sensitive, the relatively small footprint of the unit, its speaker and input connections, and its solid overall build quality make the PSW8-100 a tremendous value and a pleasure to recommend to others.

Summary: Great Deal for a Hundred Bucks
Review: Sweet sub that rocks any movie. If you need a little more bass for your home theater this sub is perfect. Most people with home theaters that are upgrading from pro logic to dolby digital have little tiny surround speakers. This is a great idea to balance out the sound during those action packed thrillers like the Matrix or Saving Private Ryan. If you're after more boom, like for music only systems, then you might want something bigger, but for home theaters this is perfect. It's a good size, about the size of a milk crate, it was easy to hide next to my couch. This thing gets real loud, if it's not against a wall the sound is a little sloppy. Volume, x-over, phase, and auto on, switches are all on back. Hi and low level inputs are there too. This will work with any system. Bottom line: For a hundred bucks, you can't beat this deal.

Review: The sweet grill over the port rocks for acurately recreating the sound of driving on the highway with the window down. The hexagon legs transfer the mighty sound of the 8" driver into your carpet! While running a frequency test of 30hz the woofer separated from the box and the port blew out because of the stupid grill. However, it was slightly amusing watching it fly apart.
