Wharfedale's 70th-anniversary edition Diamond 8.2 makes subtle design improvements over the standard Diamond 8.2 loudspeaker, including improved binding-post terminals and a more stylish real-wood finish. The Diamond 8.2 is the result of Wharfedale's more than three years of intensive research and development into virtually every aspect of acoustic design. Wharfedale's unique bidirectional Kevlar weave creates a cone that can start and stop in an instant, resulting in detail and resolution that will amaze the most discerning listeners. Coupled with the most refined Ferro-fluid-cooled, neodymium-powered textile tweeter in its class, this speaker has it all: detail, dynamics, and an impressive soundstage. Behind the woofer is a dual-layer, vented voice coil that transmits the signal information with great accuracy. The cone is mounted on a nitrile rubber Flexaural surround rim. A profiled phase plug improves the off-axis performance to project an excellent stereo image across a wide listening area. The speaker is front ported to enable positioning close to a back wall. Gold-plated bi-wire terminals are used for connections, which you can take advantage of using the A and B speaker sets from most any integrated amplifier or surround receiver.
