Description:

Turn the corner into home-theater territory with the addition of JBL's S-Center II center-channel speaker. Optimally part of a multichannel speaker array consisting of left, right, center, left/right surround, and a ".1" low-frequency effects channel handled by a powered subwoofer, this center speaker is nevertheless a good center-speaker addition to your existing stereo (left/right) pair if you want to start small. (You'll need an audio/video receiver, however, to process Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1-channel surround sound from VHS tapes and DVD movies.)

The three-way S-Center II loudspeaker is designed to reproduce sound with amazing clarity and power for its price. Its pure-titanium tweeter and midrange driver are mounted on JBL's Linear Field Proximity (LFP) bezel, which ensures a seamless transition between the middle and high frequencies. The PolyPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) woofer features traditional JBL engineering, the same technologies used in JBL's Professional equipment that can be found in stadiums, music halls, and movie theaters the world over.

Shielded components allow distortion-free placement near TVs and computer monitors. High-temperature, oversize Kapton voice coils and HeatScape motor structures give the speaker ample facility with all types of movies and music.

A FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. JBL's custom-designed drivers allow the use of simple, Straight-line Signal Path (SSP) crossover networks with high-quality electrical components that minimize processing that could degrade the signal. All Studio Series loudspeakers are equipped with all-metal, five-way, gold-plated binding-post speaker terminals.
