Summary: Not bad but there are better NVD's
Review: Not a bad little night vision device. Well I wouldn't say it's a true NVD in that it doesn't use an image intensifier but it uses a CCD camera chip as its light gathering component. It has some things that should have been included like a tripod socket, a better battery, a hood for the lcd screen, and a filter over the infra red diodes. I have used the Nitemax at night and its performance is OK but it requires illumination such as streetlights, infra red light. But it does work great at dusk and dawn.

Summary: Not bad but some limitations
Review: This item is a night vision viewer.
Pros:
Black and white 2.5 inch LCD screen. Sharp and bright.
Video out for recording images or viewing on second monitor.
Uses rechargable lithium ion batteries which also fit Sony camcorders. Comes with battery charger.
Jack for optional 9Vdc power source.
Push button controls for image brightness and IR illumination.
Does not suffer from image blooming because the electronics compensate for bright lights.
Good viewing of mixed light scenes at night.

Cons:
No tripod socket so it's a pain mount on something solid.
Poorly written owner's manual. It's bad. The company should've done a better job.
Poor viewing range at night with no moonlight or streetlamps. With the IR illumination at max I estimated the range in total darkness to be around 50 to 60 feet.
The LCD screen is so bright it lights your face up so this viewer can't be used covertly. The LCD screen can't be turned off.

Battery life was stated at two hours but I found in my usage that it was a little over one hour.
All in all it does ok within it's parameters.
