Review: My personal review of the OrangeLink Firewire PC card is very positive.
This is a simple, unobtrusive, effective, and reliable product. It functioned right out of the box on my WinXP pro O/S laptop � no special driver disk was required. I hooked up an external 80GB HD with firewire interface and it has performed flawlessly. Again, the most remarkable quality to the OrangeLink firewire PC card is that you don�t even notice it�s there. It just performs its intended function seamlessly from the moment it�s connected to your laptop.
No �Dongle� (a short cable serving as an intermediary between the card and the IEE1394/firewire cable running to your peripheral) is required for this unit as it has two 6 pin firewire ports built right into the card as well as a jack for an optional power supply should you find a device which lacks its own power supply and can�t run on bus power alone.
This unit costs a bit more than some of its competitors, but make no mistake, there is no competition. The OrangeLink card stands in a class of its own -- apart, above and beyond the pack. It is, I consider, a benchmark by which other manufacturers should gauge the quality of their wares.
Well, this is my first time posting a review on Amazon and I don�t want to ramble. It�s just that this item has made a very favorable impression on this consumer. This is more than another PCMCIA card, its an example of form in harmony with function. Of quiet professionalism and ingenious design. My thanks to both OrangeLink and Amazon!

Summary: this card doesn't work with iPod and Thinkpad
Review: Reasons that this card only deserves one star:
1) The manual is only a small piece of paper with Mac instrution on one side and PC instructions on the other side. I think [amount]price should at least buy a piece of 8.5x11 letter paper.
2) No 1-800 tech support. I have to call long distance for some stupid questions.
3) This firewire card for notebook is not powered. So if your firewire device needs power, then by their great tech support guy, you have to buy a [amount] Orange Micro power supply cable, exclusively from their own website. Why don't they tell me this before?
4) This card couldn't connect Apple iPod to Thinkpad T23.
