Description:

The Philips Streamium MX6000i gives you the best of traditional home entertainment alongside unprecedented access to the world of online audio-video content via 802.11g (WiFi) wireless access from either connected PCs or online entertainment services. WiFi fun includes music videos, Web movies, and cinema trailers, as well as the variety of online music content available through Philips' Streamium service partners such as MP3.com, MusicMatch, live365.com, Radio Free Virgin, Playhouse Radio, and Andante. There's no need to download files first to your PC, or even turn the PC on to stream Internet multimedia content. (Broadband Internet connection is required.)

The system consists of a Dolby Digital/DTS-capable surround sound receiver with an integrated 5-DVD/CD changer, 4 compact satellite speakers, a center speaker, and a pair of Twin Sub bass pipes for full throttle theater power. The MX6000i has a Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Pro Logic II processing, which generates 5.1-channel audio from any 2-channel source. The selectable NTSC/PAL DVD transport plays DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/-RW, VCD, SVCD, MPEG-4 video, DivX (3.11/4.x/5.x), CD, CD-R/RW, MP3 CD, JPEG image CD, and Kodak Picture CD. An onscreen display simplifies set-up and operation.

The MX6000i is equipped to access online services directly or to stream digital media like music, pictures, and movies from the hard disk of a networked PC (using supplied PC Link software). When the system is hooked up to a widescreen TV, you'll enjoy all this multimedia content in the comfort of your living room. Wireless connectivity based on the 802.11b and 802.11g standards gives you the choice of connecting the MX6000i to cable or ADSL broadband services by either a wireless network router or a wired Ethernet connection. A feature of Philips' Streamium technology is upgradeability, which you can perform via the Internet to add new services and features (like online games and access to Web-based photo albums), future-proofing the system against obsolescence and changing standards.

If your digital music files contain metadata, e.g., ID3 tag information (title, artist and album), those details are displayed on a 5-line display and additionally on the system's onscreen display. Navigating PC multimedia content on your TV and stereo can be performed using the remote control.

Six integrated 75-watt audio amplifiers drive the stereo speakers, the matching rear speakers, a center speaker and two subwoofers built into the rear speaker columns. The system's four 2-way (3-driver) satellite speakers acoustically match the tonal characteristics of the center speaker. Front left, right, and center speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent any interference with your TV's image.

The system's Class D digital amplifier takes an analog signal, converts it into a digital signal and then amplifies the signal digitally, producing strong, clear sound with high efficiency and low distortion. Philips' ClearVoice technology ensures accurate dialogue separation in the action scenes of a movie, and you can adjust the speaker settings using the supplied remote control to achieve optimum sound immersion and listening enjoyment. The system's tuner offers FM/AM digital tuning with 40 presets (including Autostore facility and RDS display for station name, program type). Eco-power standby mode reduces power consumption to less than one watt.
