Rating: Summary: Buyer be weary! Review: Be ware!! THIS SWITCH DOES NOT CONVERT COMPOSITE SIGNALS TO S-VIDEO. I have an N64 via composite, a PS2 via s-video, and a Tivo hooked up through s-video to this this device. To switch between TiVo/PS2 and N-64, you must have both a composite and s-video cable going out in addition to the audio cables. Next, you must get behind the tv and when you want to use s-video, plug it into the the tv (it overides composite signals) and unplug it whenever you want to use composite. This wouldn't be too much of a problem, but the s-video 'IN' on my tv is twisted sideways, making it extremely hard to fit the s-video cable into it continuously. And what about those of us who keep our tvs in entertainment centers? This minor discomfort takes away the whole point of the device! If you're only planning to use either only composite or s-video sources, then this switch is flawless. This is what earned it two stars. It switches correctly every time and I've noticed no loss of video or audio signal. If you are planning to use both s-video and composite sources, then either buy two of these (one for composite and another for s-video) or buy switchers with composite-to-s-video conversion- THERE ARE BETTER ONES OUT THERE.
Rating: Summary: look for the SVS1000A model Review: I bought the Recoton SVS1000 after getting a second VCR, and a DVD player, for my TV. This despite the fact that my TV had three video inputs to begin with. These days a couple of inputs isn't enough. Especially when you count video game systems, and camcorders. Getting this saved me from having to swap cables all the time, which is what I was duing until I got it. It's simple to use, just plug and click. It's a great time saver.

Rating: Summary: Kicks Major Boootay!! Incredible unit, Incredible price!! Review: I cannot believe the quality and workmanship of this item for what i paid for it. it undercuts the others in price and quality so much that, in my opinion, is why most stores won't carry it. all the others i checked out were at least double the money, what an incredible bargain this is!!:)<
Rating: Summary: Solve connection problems Review: I had a TV with one set of inputs and wanted to connect a VCR a Dish network reciver and a Panasonic RV30 DVD. I tried connecting through the VCR but Macrovision copy protection messed up my DVD output as it passed through the VCR. This switch solved all my problems... Now I get a beautiful picture from my DVD player without having to continually switch cables.
Rating: Summary: WORKS Like charm Review: I have my LaserDisc, DVD, MP3/CD/SACD, SVHS all hooked onto this simple portal. Great because I can hook up the S-Video connection onto my DVD receiver.
Rating: Summary: GReat Gadget I Needed But Didn't Know Existed Review: I needed to evaluate a new version of the MSN Web TV component that hitches up to a television/stereo system. All my S-Video and RCA inputs/outputs were already taken up by -- and daisy-chained through -- a digital-CD player, a stereo receiver, a satellite antenna box, a VCR, an older analog television, VCR, etc. I rummaged through electronic aisles at CompUSA and found this wonderful solution, inexpensive and sufficiently easy to hook up that no instructions are needed. I don't know what model I have -- it sounds exactly like what is described here but looks a little different, more modern. And it does the job. As digital and analog media increasingly fuse together into a home media center, older components are going to be lacking sufficient s-video and other video/stereo connections. The Recoton S-Video Switch saves the day! My only concern is that the four hook-ups may not be enough.
Rating: Summary: Does the job beautifully. Review: I ordered two of these from Amazon and I am very happy with them. They make switching between devices a breeze. It's so nice to have everything hooked up all at the same time. The Recotons don't need any power and the S-VHS and audio hookups are a breeze. I have fantastic video and sound from any of my dvd/laserdisc players...all with a simple click of a button. I love the simplicity of these devices and they work well and get the job done.
Rating: Summary: Works great for me Review: I use it for my TiVo, DVD player and PlayStation and it works great. If you don't mind pushing a button, then it is much easier on the wallet then the $80+ automatic models available. The only thing to be aware of is that it does not come with an extra S-Video/RCA cable to go from the box to the TV, so if you don't have one, be sure to pick one up at the same time.
Rating: Summary: Saved me +$300! Review: I was getting frustrated because my "old" receiver/amp ran out of places to plug things in - I was having to choose which items to leave out and it was frustrating me that I couldn't enjoy my hi-fi system w/ all my devices. For just $20 this little device came to my rescue! There's a MUCH more expensive version in the Crutchfield catalog (like $150). Sure that one has a few extra bells and whistles but I don't think it justifies teh $130 extra (like a remote that only has 3 buttons...? ) This sucker is all you need if you own a DVD, VCR, Game Station, etc...
