Summary: The best $40 I've ever spent!
Review: I recently purchased a new Toshiba DLP HDTV. The picture right out of the box was fantastic on HD channels, great on digital channels, but only so so on some of the analog channels. I hooked up a splitter to feed part of the cable signal to the cable box and the other part directly to the TV and that helped for the analog channels. Then I read about the Motorola Signal Booster and decided to give it a try. What a difference! Digital channels are near HD quality and SD channels look a lot clearer and the colors are better. It's the best $40 I've ever spent! I was so happy with the booster I purchased another one to use in my computer room. A couple of the lower channels on the TV in there had always been fuzzy...not anymore! Finally something that does what it says it will!

Summary: In a word..."Awesome"
Review: I recently subscribed to digital cable. I was dissapointed to end up with a crappy picture...There was a lot of pixel distortion around the edges of objects on the upper channels. (Channel 200 and up.) My picture on the lower channels was snowy and sometimes lines ran through it horizontally. I did a lot of reading and decided to try some Monster brand splitters which were rated at 2ghz. They helped but the problem persisted. I got this amp and hooked it up. Wow! The majority of my problems were over. The picture was greatlyimproved. By the way, this didn't affect my cable modem at all..Still works fine..No better, no worse. Lastly...If you are in the same boat I was in...Get yourself RG6 coaxial cables and then use S-video cables from your cable box to the TV. Hope this helps.

Summary: It does work.
Review: I was skeptical even after reading some of the reviews. My cable modem was getting a weak signal upstairs after several in-line splitters were used. Sometimes too weak to even connect to the ISP. After I installed this signal booster in the basement, I am getting great bandwidth meter readings and I am not getting any HDTV signal loss. The price on Amazon.com is much lower than Circuit City's price. Highly recommended !!!

Summary: Well worth the money for my household ...
Review: i've got one jack in my apartment and i need 8 cable line feeds (3 tv's, 3 vcr's, 1 tivo and cable internet) and the lines needed to be split 6 ways to sunday. landlord wouldn't allow a new jack to be installed so i had to figure something else out. the signal in some rooms were totally unwatchable so i had to disconnect a few things just to strenghten the signal. it improved a bit but not by much.then i heard about this booster. decided to check it out and made the purchase at circuit city. i didn't expect the $80 price tag but figured if it didnt give me what i wanted i could always return it and get a refund. i found it in the internet area and at the time i wasnt aware that it could also boost cable modem speeds as well. so i get it home and connect everything. wow... perfect signals thru out my home. then i reconnect all of my signals the way i originally planned and there was no degrading of the perfect signal at all. the completely unwatchable channels on my girlfriends tv (the ones that she records her soaps on) are now as clear and vivid as they can possibly be. even boosted my internet speed from an average of 3200 down to an average of about 4300 down. i picked this up saturday the 20th. sunday i had a couple friends over who have similar issues with their cable. after seeing my improvements they went out that day and bought signal boosters. for me this was an excellent purchase. did exactly what i wanted it to do and even more considering i didnt buy it because of its capabilities with boosting cable internet... which it seems to do very well. i highly recommend this product.

Summary: Worked best out of circuit
Review: Maybe mine was defective (I returned it, didn't want to waste time trying to get it checked out). My signal was pretty good (analog cable), but went thru a splitter, and was slightly degraded on some stations. With this booster, it was a lot more degraded. I swapped it with a simple male-to-male barrel connector for testing, and the picture was much, much worse with this booster.

Summary: This device fixed all of my cable modem problems!
Review: Since moving to a rural area, my cable modem reception became very unreliable. The modem would lose synchronization with the ISP's network several times per day. I had techs from the cable company examine my set up three times. They rewired all of my connections and even recommended that I not use a signal splitter. I had one cable going to my modem and the other to my ATI All-in-Wonder video card. My reception got a little better, but the synchronization problems persisted, and I could no longer watch TV on my computer. By chance I saw this signal amplifier in the store. My experience with such consumer electronic gizmos has not been good so my initial reaction was to shy away from it. But since it was from Motorola, the manufacturer of my cable modem, and the clerk would take it back if it didn't work, I decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did! Using this signal amplifier has solved all of my cable modem synchronization problems. Network synchronization now happens within ten seconds of powering-up my modem, where before it would take two minutes, if at all. Furthermore, my modem stays connected-it hasn't gone down since I installed the amplifier. :-D On the down side, this amplifier significantly downgraded my analog cable TV signal. It does not appear to be an aid there. To remedy this, I put the amplifier after the signal splitter, amplifying the signal to the cable modem while leaving the TV receiver's signal untouched. No matter, since my TV picture was good to begin with. Final verdict: this amplifier will do wonders for your cable modem reception. However, do not use it inline with an analog TV receiver. Since the box advertises that it will improve analog TV reception when in fact it degrades it, I will knock one star off of an otherwise five-star rating. I don't have digital TV reception, so I have no idea what the amplifier will do for that type of signal.

Summary: Hey, this thing WORKS
Review: The cable company servicing my rural area is, well, just awful. Been that way for years and complaining does no good. Days when 70% of offered channels have a signal worth watching are good days. Only the TV closest to the cable's entry into the house had a decent picture. Trying to distribute that signal to 3 additional TVs (bedrooms, kitchen) was a nightmare. Installing the Motorola signal booster was a last-ditch effort before going to satellite. Installation was simple and the booster improved the signal noticeably on the 'entry' TV and dramatically on all other TVs in the house. I was so shocked I took the booster back off to be sure it was what actually fixed the problem. Sure enough, signal strength went back to its usual sorry self. Bottom line -- if you are struggling with a weak cable signal or just need to pump the signal through a splitter, try this booster. Wish I'd had it years ago.

Summary: Everyone Needs One
Review: This product is a must if you have cable or satellite TV. If you put just one splitter in your line you will probably create a marginal signal for your cable or satellite TV. This product helps reduce signal drop-outs and performs as stated admirably. Greatly improve my reception on both analog and digital stations. Had four stations that sometimes I could receive and other times could not. Completely solved that problem. Cable companies should incude this amp as 'standard equipment' since many times they do not deliver the proper signal strength to your house. Great product and it works with pay-for-view and other on-demand services.

Summary: NO SIGNIFIGANT IMPROVEMENT
Review: Unfortunately I did not get any great improvement for my cable reception. There was a modest gain in the lower bands, however the picture is still grainy and snowy. This could be attributed to the segment between the last cable repeater and my house, however without a dB reader I couldn't tell you. Now that I have tried it, I am debating if it is worth the hassle of returning it.
