Description:

With broadcast high-definition programming at an all-time high, now's the perfect time to experience superior HD picture quality through an existing HD-ready TV using Motorola's HDT100 off-air tuner. If you're not ready to buy an HD set, you can even scale the HDT100's output to a current, standard-definition TV (though you won't see an HD picture that way). Setup is easy--just hook the receiver up to an indoor or outdoor antenna, hook your TV up to the receiver, and you're ready for high-definition action.

The HDT100 instantly converts all 18 types of incoming digital television signals to match any TV through four selectable output modes: 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i. It also outputs simultaneous HD and standard-definition (SD) signals so you can watch in high-def while recording SD on your VCR or DVR.

An optical digital-audio output passes Dolby Digital 5.1-channel audio from applicable programming; use this with a compatible audio/video receiver and a multichannel speaker system (left, right, center, left/right surround, and subwoofer) to put yourself in the middle of dynamic, enveloping surround sound, right off the airwaves. Alternately, the unit decodes Dolby Digital, too, for use with non-decoding AV receivers that have the appropriate multichannel analog inputs.

The HDT100 sports a user-friendly onscreen menu to help you find your favorite programming. Other features include digital closed-captioning and parental controls through V-Chip technology. Keep in mind that this is not a digital cable box or a digital satellite receiver--those signals use different standards for transmitting HD signals and are not compatible with over-air reception. (Try the Motorola DCP501 for an all-in-one digital cable box and home-entertainment audio/video receiver.)

What's in the Box
High-definition off-air tuner, a remote control with batteries, a stereo analog-audio interconnect, a component-video cable, a user's manual, and a quick-set-up guide.
