Rating: Summary: We simplified our life a little bit Review: We used to have the following remotes laying around on our bed: the TV remote, the satellite dish remote, the VCR remote and the DVD player remote. Three of them were the same size and shape, and it took forever to figure out which was which in the semi-darkness.The Panasonic PVDM2791 did some amazing things for us: all of a sudden our VHS tapes look better (our standalone VCR isn't that old, either), our satellite programming looks better, and we can almost get by on a single remote! There's one satellite feature (the GUIDE button) we can't seem to replicate on the Panasonic remote, but our little entertainment center looks better (it used to be a jungle of boxes that didn't quite fit on top of each other and cables, cables cables), everything we watch looks better, and we're down to 1.5 remotes! Setup was a breeze, the factory settings for the TV's picture were very close to perfect, I could enter my own three- or four-letter codes for each channel (like PBS, DSS, etc.), which is great because, unless I'm using the dish, I can't remember what station's where any more (too many changes of cable provider and antenna solutions). ...but it's still fairly priced. The reviewer who complained about the sound has a point, but I don't think I've heard a 27" TV that sounds any better than this one. I don't expect much from built-in speakers, I guess. We're thinking of going to two sets of wireless headphones, anyway.
