Summary: Can't get video componet to work
Review: I was really excited when I first received the LCD monitor. S-video connection with the DVD player works great. But I can't get the video component to work with this LCD. I tried with multiple DVD players and different brands of video component cables but the colors are always screwed up. I am going to return this LCD monitor. BTW, it is not clear in the user manual about whom to contact when you have problems with the LCD monitor.

Summary: Can't beat it for the money
Review: I was skeptical when buying this unit given I had never heard of the brand name. However the price was so low I couldn't pass it up. With the rebates (which I got really quick) at $900 no other flat panel that size could touch it, especially a widescreen HD compatible television of this size.Also, contrary to the Amazon.com review, this television does in fact have a built in tuner with F-connector. In addition it have a sleep timer and autoscan/store feature for the built in NTSC tuner. It also includes a V-Chip for parental controls. It's just like any other TV, if you have "bunny ears" or unscrambled cable you can tune channels without the use of a separate tuner. What is doesn't include is an HD tuner, so a HD sat receiver, HD digital cable tuner or other HD set top box is required if you want to receive HD programming. Build quality is very good. I'm very pleased. The stands are aluminum and are well built. The remote seems well constructed as well although it's a bit big. My unit had no dead pixels and works flawlessly. It's EDTV and supports HDTV signals. I was quite surprised at the high number of input choices, everything from component video to DVI, S-Video, coax, you name it, it has it. Sound is pretty good given the small diameter of the speakers. It also is loaded with features like picture scaling so you can choose how to expand 4:3 video or if you want to at all and 5 or 6 color temperature settings (along with all the other picture and audio setting you would expect from a high end TV). I had no problems wall mounting the monitor (with a generic LCD wall mount bracket sold separately) however the speakers were a different matter. There is no way to attach the speakers to the monitor nor are there any mount points on the speakers. As a previous reviewer did, I used velcro to attach the speakers. That speaker mounting quirk and the fact that none of my universal remotes can control the television are my only complaints. Oh, and the sleep timer only works with coax input which was a slight disappointment. For a PC monitor, it works, but with only a 480 pixel vertical resolution it doesn't work well. Newer operating systems need a minimum 600 pixels or higher so this set while possible, isn't a good choice for a widescreen computer monitor. The monitor will downscale higher display resolutions but the picture looks really bad doing it. I would recommend a minimum of 1280x768 for a widescreen computer monitor. Unlike a previous reviewer I had no problems with 480P or 480i support even though it wasn't listed in the manual as supported. It seems one of the component inputs supports it while the other doesn't. For LCD, it gives me an excellent picture with decent contrast. Colors are pretty vibrant for LCD and all the settings make getting a great picture easy. I would highly recommend this flat panel to anyone looking for a HD compatible television on a budget.

The manual/box state that it's a LCD "monitor" rather than "TV", but I would not recommend it for use with a computer - 640 x 480 was about the only resolution I got decent results with! I use it primarily with a Nintendo Gamecube, which is nice since you can get "widescreen" visuals if you have a component video cable for the Gamecube... however, I have noticed it's slightly dimmer in component video/HDTV mode, not sure if that's the TV or the Gamecube. Other than that, it's a nice TV and a good value. Speakers are high quality.

Summary: Update to my earlier review; even better
Review: solution to quirk where "searching for input" occurs: the default setting is auto for NTSC vs PAL. if there is the slightest pause in signal (directv does this), the monitor goes looking for the input. This completely cleared up when I changed the auto setting to NTSC. Now this set is truly perfect. Highly recommended for under kitchen cabinet TV viewing; you'll make the neighbors envious. Pair this with a MX-500 remote (~80 bucks) that you can program with macro settings and you've got awesome kitchen viewing without sacrificing your kitchen counter space. we replaced a fat 13" sony with this and got our counter back- priceless!

Summary: Good TV -- limited PC use
Review: The RD2200 is solidly built and a good TV monitor. It has a built in TV tuner and input for all video formats including European formats (PAL and SECAM). The speakers are very good quality though enclosed in cheap plastic. The picture quality is similar to more expensive LCD TVs. The remote is quite useful and has a button to expand the picture to fill the screen. On the negative side, it is not a good PC monitor. Even with DVI connection, VGA is the only acceptable resolution. Also the PIP and POP features will not accept PC input. Because of the 16:9 format, the screen height is only equivalent to a 17" monitor. Overall, a very good TV monitor, perfect for 16:9 DVD movies, and well worth the great price Amazon offers. I received today (12/8/03) the rebate check from Nextvision less than a month from submitting the form. This is a record time for any mail-in-rebate. Thanks!

Summary: be careful about progressive scan
Review: This is quite a good lcd screen and with the right sources it works well. However, note that is does not allow 480p progressive scan used in a lot of dvd players it will only allow the interlace mode 480i, which is lower quality.

Review: THIS LCD PANEL IS WELL BUILT AND THE PICTURE IS EXCELLENT. COMPARED TO OTHER MAJOR LCD COMPANIES, THIS UNIT STACKS UP GREAT. 22" AT THIS PRICE POINT IS UNBEATABLE.

Review: This TV offers the same quality as the traditional name brands at a great savings. I have wanted a 16:9 LCD forever but until this one the price for size ratio put it out of my reach. This TV preforms flawlessly. The speakers sound great.

Summary: Very Nice LCD Flat Screen - But don't count on your rebate
Review: TV is great, can be used with PC, DVD, Cable TV, etc... Resolution for PC isn't outstanding but good enough. Do not count on getting a rebate; I submitted all paper work and UPC symbols etc... called the company after about 8 weeks and they said there were no UPC symbols in the envelope. There were actually 2 UPC symbols, one from each side of the box... oh well. Still can't beat the deal even if Nexvision is a shady company.
