Summary: Addressing the negative reviews for this product....
Review: As Product Manager of the JENSEN headphones line, I'd like to address the specific complaints of our customers who have posted their remarks on this Web site. Because we are always working to improve the features and performance of our products, we give serious attention to consumer feedback, both positive and negative.

Points to address: Several consumers reported dissatisfaction with the JB16's sound quality - some complained about its bass-heavy sound. You may want to counter with the fact that the words Enhanced Bass are prominent on the product's package. We used Enhanced Bass technology because the demographic for this product tends to listen to bass-heavy music, and would therefore appreciate this feature. During my test of the product, I found the bass had the proper thump in proportion to the music - robust, but not overwhelming. One complaint concerned a "tinny" and "hollow" sound. This was definitely not my experience with the product.

Another concerns was regarding the JB16's auto rewind feature: i.e., the earbud cord snaps back too quickly. I'd like to explain how this feature operates. Any cord that automatically rewinds on any product - be it a set of earbuds or a vacuum cleaner - will do so with a fast, whip-like action. That is simply how the mechanism that makes automatic rewind possible functions. In the future, include a note or caution informing consumers that the cord will snap back quickly when auto rewind is engaged on the package.

To address a consumer's complaint about the cord snapping off can probably be attributed to misuse of the product: specifically, the consumer pulling too hard. Our products are built to be as durable as possible during normal use, but this product is by its very nature somewhat fragile, making careful handling necessary.

I believe that the majority of other negative reviews can be attributed to consumers who are not using the JB16 under the appropriate conditions, or who bought it with unrealistic expectations. This product is intended for private listening under circumstances in which earcup- or earmuff-style headphones would be uncomfortable or impractical: i.e., exercising, running or reclining. Although the JB16 is a very useful addition to the music lover's collection of listening accessories, it is not designed to be a primary piece of audio equipment.

The JB16 is intended to deliver high quality sound, which it achieves. But this product should not be bought with the expectation of full-frequency, highly defined audio reproduction. JENSEN does offer full headphones that provide this superior performance level - consumers should be invited to visit our Web site, jensen.com for information on our entire line.

Summary: This thing sucks
Review: Don't buy this! First the autowinder dose not work at all--I had to leave the wire under the cap; Second, the wires do not work--I could only hear sound from one ear, sometimes none; And third, the earphones are huge--they hurt my ears so much, I could not wear it for more than ten minutes.

I give it two star only because when I first bought it, it worked well, and porvided pleasureable sound. But then, everything down hill. Bad quality!

I will have to throw it away, buy a real headphone!!

Summary: DONT BUY THESE HEADPHONES
Review: I bought these headphones and after opening the packet i found they couldn't be removed from the autowinder. The autowinder goes at about a million miles an hour whiplashing the buds everywhere. They hurt. The bass on them is too high aswell. After using them for a day, i found that the sound only came out of one ear or was really poor until i tapped the unit or held the chord in a certain position. I have seen better headphones for half the price.

Summary: Good Sound With Some Defect
Review: I have bought one. I love the auto wind feature and the sound quality is okay. But the rewind button should be designed more hidden, cause sometime it may be touched too easily. Also it is too simple and not worth it's price. When I check the package I saw "MADE IN CHINA" back, I was so disppeared cause I think it is manufactured here, my homeland. Oh, My God. :(

Summary: bad experience
Review: I just recieived this thing today - and the part on the autowinder that is supposed to catch the cord and keep it in place all of a sudden broke. That means I have to hold on to the cord while I listen to music or else the winder tries to wind it up. Then, while extremely frustrated and trying to fix it, I pulled at it a little too hard and snapped the cord in half. I just flushed $20 down the drain. Don't buy it.

Summary: Nice idea but needs work
Review: I like the idea of auto winding earbuds with volume control. The sound quality is quite nice for what I listen to & over all I was pleased with the performance initially. However....they do not seem to be made to last. I would expect a product with a lifetime warranty to be built to last. The first thing to go was the left earbud/speaker housing. The insulation pulled out exposing the wires. Next the rubber rings on the earpieces became so loose they would come off in my ears or push off the outer edge when being inserted thus leaving a somewhat rough edge in contact with my ear. Next the point in the wire where it separates to go to each earpiece separated exposing the bare wires. Next the right earbud wire pulled out just as the left had. I can understand that pulling on the wires will cause the problems described above but it is unavoidable due to the setup of the earbuds. You are forced to pull on the earbuds themselves at first to remove them from the case. I will say that throughout all this the sound quality & volume controls have continued to work fine.

Summary: Jensen JB16 Headphones with Autowinder
Review: I purchased this product and found the sound quality to be very good for something in this price range. I would, however, like to challenge comments made that infer misuse and abuse is the reason for failure of the mechanism that holds the cord in place. Yes, of course someone could break them if they are too rough but I am not, I repeat, NOT, hard on my possessions. These had seen very light usage. A couple of weeks ago I pulled them out of my purse and when I opened the hinged plastic cover, it came off completely. Well, no big deal, I could still snap it back into place when it was time to store them. The next time I pulled them out to use them, when I pulled the cord to extend the earphones, suddenly it automatically retracted without pushing the button. I did not pull the cord hard.

I was very disappointed but when I started shopping for something else with these features I really couldn't find anything. So, I have decided that I will order another pair and try again. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that somehow the case was damaged while in my purse, compromising the integrity of the unit.

Summary: Comfort and Convenient and Cool all for a great Cost
Review: I really like the auto winder feature of the JB16 from Jensen. It is convenient to store in my carrying case. I don't understand how people are saying that there's don't last, they must be really be abusing them. The ear pieces retract a little fast, but at least it is out of the way because I like not having to worry about the cord. The sound quality is really good for the price. The case, that has a built in clip so you can attach to your belt, is small and sleek. It's a great bargain!
