Summary: Hearken: a splendid investment!
Review: First let me say that I regularly entrust Aiwa to all my audio needs, so I guess I'm a devoted customer. Still, that fact aside, this is a great purchase, and it certainly fulfills the need for a pair of superb headphones. As someone who can't stand bass, it is [always] nearly impossible to find a pair of closed-cup headphones that doesn't have "enhanced bass," "extra bass," or the like. However, even though this pair claims to provide a "deeper, stronger bass sound," it isn't as bad as the other headphones I've had the immense displeasure of trying, and tweaking one's equalizer can easily compensate for the unwanted bass. Rephrased, I hate bass and bass-heavy music, and I don't understand why headphones have built-in mechanisms to add bass; companies could at least allow you to turn it off at will, but I digress. Nevertheless, these headphones provide good-quality sound (minus the excessive bass), they block out your surroundings, thereby allowing you to be enveloped in your music, and the cord is of an adequate length. Moreover, the price is quite affordable--certainly worth the sound quality that you receive--and the headset is both comfortable, as well as flexible and articulated. These headphones do lack the volume control option I've seen elsewhere, but so what?! Likewise, the 'mute' button must be held down to be employed, but that doesn't bother me because it's a rather useless option.
In conclusion, I'm not going to claim that this product is perfect, however they are the best closed-cup headphones I've tried (hence the 5 star rating), and I recommend them to all whom are willing to listen (no pun intended)!

Summary: Great product, great feel!
Review: First of I have an extremly large head and trying to find some headphones that don't pinch my big head was a challenge... But my quest ended here! These are some of the first headphones that fit all sizes with out pain. They also offer great sound quality, and they mute most of the sound around you, so don't drive with these on...

Summary: Great headphones for a great price!
Review: Great headphones for a great price. I had a pair of Sony headphones before these and they were too awkward and uncomfortable...these are great. Fit my head perfectly, delivers strong bass with great highs, just an all around great pair of headphones. Highly recommended.

Summary: Well worth the money!
Review: I bought these at the local Best Buy a few months ago and I love them! They give excellent sound quality and excellent ranges. While I have owned these, I have left them out on the floor because my desks and such are extremely cluttered. While they have been on the floor, I have stepped on them at least 20 times, no joke, and they have held up. They are a sturdy set of headphones. If you can afford them, BUY THEM! The BEST set of headphones I've ever used. One more thing... In Austin Powers: Goldmember, about 5-10 minutes in, you can see the music conductor wearing this type of headphones, except they are on backwards.

Summary: Not great
Review: I bought these headphones less than a year ago. They were pretty comfortable for the most part. They were also a bit heavy, but still comfortable. The sound quality was decent but after a year they stopped working for no reason. They had been well cared for and never used anywhere but in my home. And forget about trying to repair them. In my experience with Aiwa, their products just don't seem to hold up for long. Very disappointing.

Summary: NEW FAVORITE PAIR
Review: I got these headphone because I had HP-CN5's (aiwa's noise canceling ones), but I managed to snap the headband, so thats [money] down the drain. So I looked around and got the HP-X222's.

First - The sound is terrific, I havn't heard sound like this out of headphones before.

Second - I think these are very comfortable, heck I wear them even if i dont have them plugged in, in the 2 day's I've had them I can't even tell their on anymore.

Third - The sound quality is great like I stated before, it handles high's well, and also lows alot better then I thought they would. Although they can't get DEEP bass, they do not get distorded at hi volumes either. I also have a pair of Sony's that cost [more] and I believe the HP-X222's sound just as good if not better.

* - Only thing I don't like is the mute button on the left side, I constantly accidently press it while adjusting the headphones.

Summary: Superb Selection for Home Audio Listening
Review: I have owned these headphones for a year now. Prior to them I owned a similar pair of headphones but they were manufactured by a no-name company and I bought them for[money]at a computer show. You definitely get what you pay for. Those ones broke. Thirty dollars for this set is well worth it.

Anyone who values absorbing every sound will love them. They keep all the sound in. There have been times when someone has been in the same room as me yelling my name and I didn't realize it. Obviously, I had the volume up very loud and when they tapped me on the shoulder I nearly had a heart attack, so be careful.

Aside from sound quality, they also have outstanding durability. They will stretch to fit virtually any head size. I have a relatively small head but they fit snugly. My brother, who has a very large head, has used them, and they fit him well too.

As far as added features go, there's not much. They are only headphones afterall. I like the location of the mute button (on the bottom of the left earphone), although I have hit it accidentally from time to time (no big deal, it only mutes when you're pressing it). Also, there is more than enough chord. I often plug these headphones into my stereo, put them on, and sit at my desk, which is across the room, without a problem. On the other hand, the chord can get in the way if the player is close. But that's why headphones like this are ideal for home use. The only feature I've noticed lacking from this model is an on-chord volume control (which my cheap $10 pair actually had). But if you're near your player or have a remote for it, this isn't an issue.

All in all, the aiwa HP-X222 headphones are ideal for all home audio purposes, computer and stereo. Five star product.

Summary: Quality Headphones without the Big $$$
Review: Its been a long time since I had my first pair of inexpensive headphones. I figure I get a decent pair that has the right price. With 5 to 25K freq rsp, long cord, and a sensitivity of 104db sounds like nothing til you go shopping and find out that you have to shell out over $$$ to get a pair like this. This is one Awia product I am really proud of.
