Rating: Summary: Nice and Affordable! Review: I needed a pair of replacement headphones, so i checked these out. They're pretty nice. I listen to loud music and these headphones do the job nicely. They have a good sized cord too so i can take them to the gym and not have to worry about my head yanking off the cord when on a treadmill. They fit pretty well too.
Rating: Summary: Good- But Not Best.... Review: I picked these up at my local electronics store after being absolutely fed up with my 'phones breaking at bad times (try a 5 hour plane ride and your stereo headphones suddenly become mono...). I had tried those clip on ones, phones that go 'round the back of your head, the traditional style, heck, what DIDN'T I try? I was desperate... So, getting back to the point, I picked these up in a frustrated rage after having a half-decent pair die on me just while sitting at home. For the 20-buck-or-so price tag, I was expecting, quite honestly, the something along the lines of the pieces of crap I had previously owned. I was pleasantly surprised. The band and phones themselves are comfortable, and the inculded adapter (1/4 inch plug to an 1/8 inch one) was a real plus. They handle my range of music pretty well, though I must say they are not for proud audiophiles. The midrange is pretty good, the treble's okay, and the bass... well... It's okay too. They block out outside sound (be it engine noise or the screaming of toddlers) fairly well, and the long cord is a bonus. Unlike several similar pairs I've owned, the earphones do not snap off or the wires break when I trip over the cord/ walk away (yes, it does happen. I'm sure you've forgotten you were tethered to a stereo before...) and so far they seem to be holding up pretty well. I'd definitely recommend these for all you middle-of-the- road, casual listeners out there, or semi-audio geeks, the picky-but-not-too-picky. If you're looking for something with absolutely incredible, religious experience sound, and you know who you are, try a high-end pair from a high end brand. What more can I say? Thanks, Sony, for making something comfortable, durable, and pretty decent sounding, and for offering it for 20 bucks.
Rating: Summary: good value Review: I see the price has come down yet again... Got these from Amazon about a month ago, and I am quite pleased with this purchase overall. The sound quality is fine for casual listeners, but as other reviews have noted, the fit is tight in a not so comfortable way. I have a smallish head and wear glasses and am still trying to find just the right way to position these on my ears. I usually end up taking them off after a while. Incidentally, I find that these do not block outside noise at all, but this is to be expected. I can hear every conversation around me when I am playing music.
Rating: Summary: Not perfect, but everything they should be Review: I've had these headphones for at least one or two years now. The sound quality they put out is up to par; good balance, sufficient bass, and enough exclusion of external noise. They're about as comfortable as cheap studio headphones will come; which, unless you're extremely picky or have a misshaped head, shouldn't be a problem at all. They don't come in too tight on your ears, and the pads are comfortable and durable. As far as overall durability goes, I can't complain because I have no problem patching things up with black electrical tape, but for the average consumer this could be an issue. Mine have cracked on both sides where the adjusting mechanism slides up and down, and have completely fallen apart on one occasion. But mine have also been through a lot (trips especially), and like I said, it's really simple (and efficient, and subtle) to fix them up with electrical tape. Also, one more thing that should be noted (but has been pointed out enough times in all the other reviews), is that the cord length and durability is perfect for most situations. Low-priced, quality, studio-style headphones. Which I think a lot of people are looking for these days. It's worth your money, and then some. Don't believe me? Most stores will let you open the package up and try them on, so go decide for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Sounds Good Review: If only it had a little more high end treble. Other than that they work great on a good home stereo!
Rating: Summary: Great Value if you get it for around $10 Review: If the world gives you trouble, block everything out by putting on these headphones and tuning in your favorite CD. Soft ear muff-like design will give you comfort while blocking out any outside noise. You only hear music and none of the outside chatter. An extra-long cord is very useful if after listening to a bad CD, you feel like hanging yourself. I've been searching for a good pair of headphones for a long time. If you want a good pair of headphones without spending a hefty amount, ger these!
Rating: Summary: Awesome for such a low price. Review: If you want better sound than the crappy earphones or headphones that came with your CD/MP3/MD player, get these. They're high in value. Although not the best, they are still great.
Rating: Summary: Cant recommend Review: Ive owned these for a short time, but long enough to comment on the marginal comfort. They are rather tight on a normal sized head, even though the ear pad are quite soft. Even though I have to periodically remove them to relive the discomfort and the build up of heat. Sound is fine for discount product. They cant compare to the bass of the inner ear insert type. I cant recommend paying retail like I did, but otherwise...
Rating: Summary: Its good sound, easily broken Review: Ok, you know what everyones been saying about this... really uncomfortable, and they are right at first. You have to press those cups to break them in and adjust the headphones to your head. After that... it still gets sore, but not as fast (like all headphones like this).
My main gripe with this is that these things also don't last very long if you aren't super careful with them... if you make a mistake you can break those small little hinges at the end of the cans. For me I like moving around a lot so these things are ususally thrown in a bag with everything and it gets jumbled. They get busted.
Sound quality is good for the price once you get over the fact that there is pain in your ears. The sound quality is the only reason this gets a 4. I personally would get this if I didn't have the money, but I'd rather spend a few extra bucks to get the Senheiser HD 202's instead.
Rating: Summary: Best pair of 'cheapos' for the average sized head. Review: One of my constrictions as 'the wierd guy who lives in guest bedroom' (an 8X10 box reminiscent of my dorm days) with my buddy, his SR, and her two kids is my inherent non-use for a decent stereo system. How listening to Ozzy at 900 decibles could be considered, "too loud" is beyond me, but I went along with this ridiculous logic, if only for the good of the children, and turned to the obvious listening alternative all people previously in my position turned to in THEIR time of need... The mighty headphone. Or is it headphones? I mean, it's one, but it's two, arrrrrgh, I'll be up all night figuring this one out... Being the broke cubicle-living loser that I am, I was forced to use the many ear-mangling junkers I had lying around. After making 37 pairs of 'phones one-channel (more often from internal wire breakage than actual speaker blow-outages), I did what everyone else has done at least once. I spliced. Oh, did I splice. I spliced, I spliced, then I spliced some more. I began timing myself. I constantly sought to become faster than any human being has before in the technique of splicing. I am now the splice-master. But getting back to the subject, my parents, who obviously are those aliens from Independence Day because I've never revealed my overwhelming knowledge in the deadly art of the splice to them, bought these for me Christmas 2001. They still sound as good today as they did they day I recieved them. They haven't sucumbbed to the fatal 'wire-breakage' most other cheap 'phones do. The pop-off speakers ensure you won't bust said wires if you step on the cord. I really like the way the speakers are designed to mold to your head, and they really are comfortable, even after hours of continuous use. I listen through them at least four hours a day (usually more). That's almost 3000 hours MINIMUM of listening time these 'phones have logged, and they show no signs of quitting anytime soon. About the only thing that could be improved upon is the limited range the headpiece has to adjust. If your head is over or undersized, they probably won't fit comfortably (which, by the way, stay where you adjust them pretty well, also unlike most other cheap-o's). Same goes for those of you with those dumbo ears. If I need another pair of headphones before I get my own place and blow five grand on a stereo system, you can bet it'll be these. For the sake of my sanity I hope I'm not still here when that happens...
