Summary: KIDS WILL LOVE THIS
Review: I've purchased several headphones for my kids and none of them fit on their little heads as well as this set does. Snuggly fits on my seven year old who was always holding the previous sets with one hand or pushing them back on his ears. He can bend, jump and run with these on without having them slip off. When I am actually given a chance to listen with them, they have a tremendous audio quality. I am shocked the price is so low for a high quality product, but with our large family I was able to buy two for less than the price of one set of SONY headphones. Thx Amazon.

Summary: The New Koss
Review: The UR-29 is of the new Koss product mission. This mission appears to be in no way related to the TD nor -Pro (portable headphone series) mission.

I personally have not had an extremely pleasant experience with these headphones. I have been listening to Koss headphones since the TD-60s and am convinced that the UR series of headphones employ a totally different driver engineering. The "Koss sound" is not prevalent in these drivers. Furthermore, the touted 101db/mw rating is misleading in the fact that the nominal impedance of these headphones are 100ohms. Surely, 100ohms puts to rest any idea of listening to these headphones in a portable fashion, for the 5mw continuous output rating of a good amount of portable players is for a 16ohm impedance.

Taking this idea and applying it to these headphones, you won't even induce 1mw from your player's amplifier. Why? Well...
16ohm=5mw
32ohm=2.5mw
64ohm=1.25mw
128ohm=0.625mw
And if everything is linear, just for the sake of argument, you'll scratch 1mw with the volume turned to maximum...which includes distortion and clipping. Thus, these headphones are more suited for computers and other items that plug in with stronger amplifiers.

As everything comes down to sound quality, it is far from worth it. Again, the Koss sound is totally absent from these headphones... Voices sound hollow, treble sounds scattered, and bass sounds tuned. It's an overall bad experience.

Shame on Koss for releasing these headphones.
I am presently waiting for my TD-80s to ship to me so that I can right this wrong that I have committed.

Peace.
Gen.

PS. The Three Stars are all based on their being Koss headphones, and the fact that I could've purchased a defective pair.

Summary: Decent for price, but not for audiophiles
Review: These headphones have some good qualities and some bad. They look good, fit over you years (very comfortable), block out outside noise, and keep other people from getting irratated because they are very well insulated. The sound quality is only average. Bass isn't very strong, highs are not sharp, and overall the sound just lacks the crispness of a good sounding pair of headphones. They also are not very loud. I don't know if this is because I (college student) am too poor to shell out 200+ dollars for some headphone amps, or they are just natually not loud.

These headphones also nead some breaking in, which means you need to use them for a number of hours before they start sounding better, probably 5-10 hours.

Overall, they aren't bad for less than 20 dollars. If you aren't obsessed with audiophile sound quality they aren't horrible. However, for 20 more buck you can get some vastly superior seinheisers. But remember, if you do shell out 100+ dollars on some headphones, they will sound horrible without a headphone amp and a high quality recording. Because, they will be underpowered and they will accuratly portray every freaking fraw in the recording.

Summary: Carpe Diem
Review: When I first bought these headphones I was quite pleased with them. They delivered richness in sound while effectively neutralizing outside noise. But after about a month the sound in the left earpiece began to fade in and out leaving one to fiddle with the cord until some semblence of sound quality had returned. Now unless one holds the cord at an odd angle around the volume control there is no audible sound from the earpiece. I don't know whether it's just my pair or not because a very large electronics chain wouldn't give me another pair(I'm looking at you Circuit City). So there are two things to be learned here.
1) When these Koss headphones work they're a pleasure to own but they are subject to a short lifespan.
and
2)The people at Circuit City are wankers.
