Rating: Summary: I have a big head Review: ... and these headphones aren't so great for big heads. I am a loyal Koss customer, but I can't say I'm super impressed with these UR-29s.Don't get me wrong: these sound better than anything else you can get for this amount of money! But these UR-29s don't sound quite as good as my 3 year old UR-20s (which don't fold, don't look as good, and aren't as compact... maybe that is why the sound changed so much). As other reviewers have noted, these headphones fit children well. However, if you have a large head or ears, or just don't like things to fit tightly on your head, these might be a bit too small. I think these heaphones are smaller than most other Koss stereophones due to the unique folding design, which is useful as well. The construction is definitely a step above the competition. I've rolled over the cable already a few times with my office chair and it isn't even indented. The collapsing feature is nice and seems like it will last for a long long time. There is simply nothing wimpy about these headphones. The silver earcups are actually metal, not painted plastic! Wow! If you're in the market for something this price, go with these. If you're looking to replace some older Koss stereophones you have, consider getting a different model and coughing up just a little more dough.
Rating: Summary: Tragic, really... Review: Ahhh my poor Koss UR-29s...what a sad tale of woe this is.
So get this: I hear from an inside source (friend of a brother who's girlfriend is the daughter of the president of Koss) that Koss headphones are great, except for the jack...it's the shoddiest part of the headphone, and it'll be the first to go, if it does. And it did, on my first pair of UR-29's (and a previous pair of Koss headphones). So, I sent them back to Koss with $6 to get them repaired, and they came back new and shiny, and I loved them again...until...
A lawn mower accident tore the cord from the volume toggle, and I was screwed once again. So I'm taking this as an omen. I'm giving up on Koss.
While they worked, they were beautiful. Amazing richness and incredible sound quality (obviously not as good as hundred dollar pairs of headphones, but at the rate that I go through headphones, why throw my money away?) and as I would listen to Metallica or Rage Against the Machine through them, they gave a smooth, clear and very pure sound.
The base and treble are nearly perfectly balanced in these headphones. They could handle the louder iPod EQ settings with ease, which often made my previous headphones fart and overdrive -- very obnoxious.
They are huge...very bulky, and I worried about them getting smashed or broken, even though they collapse. Also, the screw that holds the actual stereophones in place gets loose very easily (or at least it did with me), so it's good to keep an eye on it.
For someone who doesn't want to drop a boatload of money on headphones, but still wants to get away with wonderful sound quality, these headphones are terrific...I must just have bad luck with em.
Rating: Summary: Wow!!! Review: Although Koss is known for making excellent headphones I was hesitant to buy these ones because the price was so low. These headphones definitely defy the "You get what you pay for law". They are comfortable and they sound great! I have very high standards when it comes to things... especially the way my music sounds and I am very satisfied with these headphones. I can listen to my music or watch movies for about six hours, but after that amount of time they become just slightly uncomfortable. I listen to all kinds of music and watch all kinds of movies too and these headphones can handle all of it very well. When you play extremely deep bass it sounds just a little bit distorted though (which is really the only bad thing I noticed about them), but come on... even those these headphones are a great deal you're not going to get the same kind of bass you would get from a high quality 1000 Watt Sub. Of course sound output quality depends on the format (and the quality of the format) you are listening to and the quality of your sound card (if you are using a computer) or whatever audio hardware you are plugging these into, so keep that in mind too. Don't let the price of these headphones discourage you from buying because this is a hell of a deal... almost seems too good to be true.
Rating: Summary: Sweet! Review: Awesome pair of headphones! You will not find a better pair even among those in the next "higher" price range! They're that good! I use them for at home Music and Computer gaming. I have to say, if anyone out there is looking for a pair of headphones to enhance your computer gaming expeiriance, these are your phones! And my music CD's sound great too! There is only one thing I would change on these headphones. The tightness of the band. It's flexible and I can wear them for hours. But I would much prefer them to be looser. They fit a bit too snug. But I can put up with it, there just isnt another pair of headphones out there that can match their sound quality and price.

Rating: Summary: Koss ur-29 Quality to Price ratio. Review: For the price Its an amazing set of headphones. When you read a review you have to know what type of person the reviewer is in relation to what type of person you are. Im a gamer, so I need to hear every little detail to know where the enemy is at or what he is doing. Most gamers go with the DSP 500's. In my opinion these are better than the 500's. Like the 500's, ur-29 doesnt have EAX sound (meaning you cant hear if their infront or behind you but you can tell the difference between left and right). The quality both treble and bass is amazing i havent heard any distortion so far out of these headsets (ive even tried to get them to distort). Another thing you need to look for in headsets is how hard it pushes against your ears. When you have the speakers close to your ears it does 2 things. 1. you can hear more detailed things plus its louder 2. It blocks out all other outside noises/interferences creating concentration on what your doing. The wire is thick so its harder to break also showing that its a high quality headset. If you notice the expensive headsets have thick wires and the cheap ones dont. The collapsable feature of this headset is only if you really dont have ANY space at all and if you travel. I personally dont like the collapsable feature because once you collapse it you have a hard time getting it back the way you had it before.
Rating: Summary: Very Clear and Rich Sound, Volume Control is a plus Review: I bought this pair of headphones to supplement the wireless headphones that came with my Sienna DVD system. The fit is perfect for me probably because I have a smaller head and ears, as well as for my larger children. The sound is clear and rich, and beats the wireless phones for isolation from road noise. Having the volume control is great in that I can adjust the volume independently of the system. Therefore if the others turn the system volume too high, I'm okay. Finally, the wire is more than long enough to hook to the DVD system. The volume control is only 12 inches from the left ear and is a slider providing for easy adjustment. I would prefer to use these headphones over the wireless ones because of the greater isolation, the earcups enclosing the ears entirely. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I've not compared this to another headphone besides the wireless ones that came with the car. I just ordered a second one to use in the car and home.

Rating: Summary: Great Stereophones, very comfortable, in-line volume control Review: I had originally bought a pair of Sony MDR 150's, but found they were quite uncomfortable. However, these Koss UR29 are VERY comfortable. The earcups are well padded and fit over your whole ear. The headband is also thickly padded. Another advantage is that the cord enters the left earcup only -- the right wire goes through headband. This results is much reduced chance of tangled wires. There is a built-in volume adjuster, which lies about 12'' from the left ear cup. Handy feature if you're on a computer. One thing that I did not see with this headphone was an adapter to fit into the thicker headphone jacks, like those commonly found on receivers. As for sound, I'm quite pleased. The lows, mids, and highs come out crisp and cleanly, and the bass can be really felt when its demanded. The only downside in my opinion is its somewhat bulky nature, but I can understand why -- the comfort level is fantastic. Highly recommended. .... at CircuitCity.
Rating: Summary: Somewhat disappointed Review: I'm a long time Koss fan, and I'm afraid I have to say I'm very disappointed with those phones for portable devices listening. Currently I have a mach7 (from 1989) and a R90 (from 1999) in this price range. I purchased this one after looking at the tech spec. Everything seamed to be right on. But the actual sound quality is not good, compared to the previous models. This one is dull and lack detail. What you should be looking on headphones is the stereo image that you get mostly with the high end of the spectrum. Portable players today don't have tone control. They only give you a bass boost (if that much). The UR29 does not have clear highs at average volume. You have to crank this thing up to listen to highs, if you don't have a tone control. So the first impression you get when you try those on is that they are "dull". You might get used to it after a while, and they deliver quality for the buck. But compared to the R90 (in the same price range) the R90 is superior in sound and comfort. Even the cheap mach7 sounds better. Looks? Ok, this one wins, but unfortunately my ears don't see... For this price range, the UR29 may be agood choice. Still, I'm giving a bad review because Koss did make way better products in this price range in the past, and I'm disappointed they have slipped the high grade quality for this one. If I've tried those on a store, I would not have purchased them.
