Summary: Overall, Good for the Price
Review: After a pair of uncomfortable Panasonic phones I had finally stopped working, I picked up the CD-180. I've only had it for a few weeks, so I'm not sure about the durability yet.As far as the sound goes, the bass response seems to be more than adequate, and the high-end response should satisfy anyone who's not an audiophile. The sound is also fairly clear and distinct, and it's easy to discriminate individual instruments. The sound also feels much closer in, unlike some models I've heard where the sound feels distant and isolated. The bass can overwhelm other parts of the music at times, though, and sometimes seems to be slightly muffled. The headphones have decent isolation for closed headphones, but not great compared to higher-end models. The real selling point for these phones, in my opinion, is comfort. Whle you can't exactly forget that they're on, the design keeps pressure off your ears, and with the right adjustments stay comfortable for extended wear. However, the interior tends to get warm after a while, and your ears will sweat. Overall, for the price, they're fine for the average user, but someone who wants perfectly crisp sound quality would be better off with a more professional set of cans.

Summary: Poor Sound quality
Review: Don't be fooled! Just because it is a sony, does not mean it is the best! I found the quality of the padding to be poor, it was hard and uncomfortable on my ears. The inside of the headphones were made of felt and cardboard, hardly quality materials used for electronics. Sound quality was muffled. In my opinion the ones by Koss are better for a better price. I returned this one and got a KOSS UR-15C for the same price.

-Headband comfortable with glasses
-Okay sound CONS
-Long cord may pose problem
-Sound can be a bit muffled
-Bass may overpower music at times
-You must turn up the volume a lot to get regular-volume music I used these with my keyboard, and I had to turn up the sound a lot. The bass was powerful, maybe a little too much. The sound was a bit muffled. But then I tried them with a CD player and they were great. Different sound frequencies, I guess.
Buy if you are going to use them with a CD player.

Summary: Forget Consumer Reports Review-These aren't reliable
Review: I also read about these in the recent Good Buys section of Consumer Reports. I picked up a pair in early August and they sounded great for a while (I agree with other reviewers that the headband feels plasticky and that the two wires instead of one do have a tendency to get more tangled.) Now, 4 months after I purchased them, the right speaker stopped working. I wrote Sony and they said they are only guaranteed for 3 months. Poor workmanship obviously leads to poor guarantees. Stay away!

Summary: Uncomfortable!
Review: I bought a pair of these a few years ago for use at the radio station where I work. They're uncomfortable, the pads make my head itch, and it makes a lot of noise when you move them. They look cool, but that's about it. I got them at Target for about $15 on an open-box buy, and ended up leaving them at the radio station. Don't get 'em. Get Optimus Nova-71's if you can find them.

Summary: Stick to Cars
Review: I bought these a year ago because they were rated a "best buy" in the under $30 headphone category in Consumer Reports. Nothing could be further from the truth - too much bass, no upper range (12KHz and up) and an overall muffled sound.
I own an old pair of Seinnheiser's that I use at home and cost me $18 nearly 12 years ago. They sound remarkably better - and I used a pair of Koss $200 headphones as a comparison.
This is the second time I got burned listening to Consumer Reports audio advice, and definitely the last.

Summary: Too much bass hardly any treble or volume
Review: I bought these because people kept telling me that Sony was a quality brand and eventually I broke down and got a pair of their headphones. These, however, were a terrible buy. They have too much bass that drowns out everything else and no treble at all. They also arent very loud. The earbuds that came with my cd player are easily twice as loud as these. I was very dissapointed, what a waste of money.

Summary: They Haven't Held Up Very Well
Review: I bought these headphones because I needed a new headphone set and the price was reasonable and when I first bought these they seemed to be alright but they just didn't hold up very well. The sound quality seemed to be fine when listening to songs on a CD that had digital sound or had been digitally remastered from a mono recording but if listening to a CD that wasn't digitally remastered the sound seemed flawed and just very low and now the headphone set seems to be totally falling apart and it's very frustrating and I think it's time to buy new headphones but I I will definitely look for another brand!

Summary: They Could Be Better!
Review: I bought these headphones because I needed a new headphone set and the price was reasonable. The sound quality seems to be fine when listening to songs on the radio but for some reason I have found that when I listen to my cassette tapes or my CD's that the sound is flawed and fades in and out and is just very low and I have found these headphones to be very frustrating and I think it's time to find a new pair! My headphones are old and like someone said it's possible that Sony has improved this model and fixed the flaws so I will think of either buying a new pair or maybe I should try another brand. BTW; I'm not spoiled rotten and I don't have to have the very best. Well quite honestly I can't afford the very best and If I was spoiled rotten and had to have the best I would buy the expensive headphones that I can't afford that I saw in a department store with ticket prices of over 100 and 200 dollars. NO THANK YOU! I personally don't want to spend anymore then 20 dollars on a decent set of headphones!
