Summary: Great Headphones
Review: These headphones are so, so comfortable! It's unbelievable. I know the top-of-the-line ones are probably more so, but they darn well better be if they cost upwards of three hundred dollars! Others say that these headphones are only good if you listen to symphony. I listen to techno, rock, jazz, hip hop, blues, and symphony. These headphones perform well above average in all types of music. It is true that they sound especially wonderful when listening to symphony, but that just makes then sound RELATIVELY bad with other types of music. If you're a symphony lover, a pair of headphones won't make you like hip hop any more than you already did. The fact of the matter is that the bass, midbass, midrange, upper, and treble, (as well as any other range) are excellent. Personally, I am a Bass head. You know, those guys that drive down the street with 1000+ watt stereos in their cars, registering multiple points on the richter scale as they pass. These heaphones are satisfying to me because I can crank up the bass on the EQ and they'll take whatever you give them. Normally, they are very well balanced, and the signal can be tailored to anyone's tastes.

Upshot: for the price, these headphones more than earn their keep. If I had a little more money to spend, I would definately come back to this company for my next pair of 'phones. The HD600's are calling out to me!

Summary: Good, but not for everyone.
Review: These headphones are good if your intentions are correct. Sennheiser calls them the 570 Symphony. They are specificially engineered for symphony music and it is clear in the audio. If you want to listen to your Mp3s, buying these headphones may be a bit overboard. If you listen to vocal-oriented music like opera or live recordings the SSSS's will make you cringe. The midrange feels very wierd. They do make classical sound good.

They also have absolutely amazing clarity. While the frequency responce is a bit ackward, if details of the sound is what you are looking for then these are what you are looking for. The Duofol technology, of which I was skeptical at first, is amazing. The sound is crisp and clear. There is no moaning and droaning from these headphones. The sound is very very detailed. These would be great for people listening through sound for small, quiet details or for sample editing when wavematching is needed. The detail provided is beautiful for that. So know what the headphones are designed for before you punch $130.00 into them. They help me, so I like them, but I can see that there may be some problems for some people.

Summary: I love these headphones!!!
Review: I highly recommend!! The sound is so good! I can hear sounds I have never heard before. My old CD's sound enhanced! I can hear the quiet sigh, the true high notes, every single instrument is clearly distinguishably. It's a beautiful thing. BUT this only happens with my stereo (not with my boombox, not with my walkman). If you don't have a high quality stereo, don't bother....you will not get the same effect.

Summary: Good Headphones but drains power
Review: These headphones are great. They have a fuller dynamic range than most other brands with less distortion. They have very good clarity in the high's and mid's. As with many high performing headphones, they require a lot of power and many portable electronic sources may not provide enough power. I had to use a receiver with my old Discman to reduce distortion at high volumes. With my newer Discman, I didn't have to use the receiver any more.

Summary: Great sound all around
Review: I'm not an audiophile but I wanted a great pair of headphones to use with my stereo and/or my computer. I tried the Sony VR600s, which, for the price were horrific. These were a step up in price but the sound is unbelievably satisfying. If you want great bass - you'll have it. If it's unbelievable highs - these are the headphones to get.

The sound is extremely accurate - they pick up everything the musician meant the listener to hear. And I had to push them pretty hard to get distortion. They cover the whole spectrum of sound and I can't imagine anyone not being supremely pleased with this purchase. Go out and get a pair!

Summary: Sennheiser 570 headphones
Review: Giving a 3 star rating to the Sennheiser HD490 Live DigitallyCompatible Superaural Stereo Headphones might be a touch on theScrooge side, but when Fed Ex delivered them... I had to try them right away; and putting them on I was all grins and giggles with anticipation... I was expecting sooo much good stuff from these phones... that my dissapointment in what I heard was almost wounding. So here's my bottom line: these are not rock and roll headphones, and these phones require too much push to be used with discmans and such. Listening to these phones is like being on a date with the Preacher's daughter, sitting on the living room sofa along with her 14 year old sister, and watching PBS with her family... Proper? Yes. Tasteful? Sure. But what you really wanna be doing is rockin' out...

Summary: Best Headphones I've Ever Listened With!
Review: All I can say about these headphones is that they are fantastic! The detail I hear is so crisp that it is amazing. I listened to some jazz on these headphones and I could hear how smooth the bass was and how clean the mids were. They are a little on the pricey side but well worth it for the quality you get. In the past, I would've skimped on the headphones I've purchased, but never again!

Summary: The Audiophile's Phones
Review: If you have a several-thousand dollar stereo or entertainment system, this is one of the best headphones that money can buy. The bass is deep and you can feel the thumping down through your spine. The high frequency sounds are crisp and true with no distortion whatsoever. The headset itself is very light, and the foam is ergonomic and comfortable. The plug is gold plated - what else can you expect from such a high-end product! If you need headphones so you can go jogging or to use with you walkman in the gym, these are probably too bulky. But if you need headphones for the best quality listening without bothering the person in the room with you, these are the phones to get. I paid $180 for these a couple months ago, and they are worth every penny.

Summary: Yep, the tonal balance is different, and the volume is lower
Review: I have two HD-545 headphones and have gotten quite addicted to their lovely, rich, and incredibly clear sound. They were getting a bit worn however, and I have already replaced the cords on both of them. So I decided to try this headphone, mainly because the Amazon.com review said that the HD-570 was supposed to replace the HD-545.

Well, the HD-570 definitely has a different sound compared to the HD-545's. The Sennheiser website shows a frequency response chart for this headphone that describes it best, basically a dip in the midrange frequencies. And that's what I hear - the highs are quite sharp, the lows are definitely there, but the middle frequencies just seem to be dulled. And so the sound that comes out of these headphones lacks the rich fullness and ringing clarity of the HD-545's. With the highs and lows both registering fully, the sound can be both more shrill and booming at the same time, depending what's in the music that you are playing. "Muffled" isn't quite the right word, since the highs still come through, but yes, these headphones sound muffled.

Anyway, if you listen to the HD-570 exclusively, you can get used to the sound, it's not as bad as some of the reviews would make it. It's only when I do a direct comparison with the HD-545's that I kind of regret getting these headphones. Definitely, I like the HD-545's sound better, but then, I've been listening to them exclusively for about ten years or so.

(...).

Finally, there is a difference in the volume of the HD-570. It's not horrible, but on one computer, I have to max out the volume just to get it loud enough.

Summary: Award-winning for a reason.
Review: I've had these headphones for about five years, and I love them. You must know their purpose before you buy them, though. They're for private listening in a studio or your own home. You should not take these on a subway. They're MEANT to be healthy and circuitous for your ears, and thus they're not isolating. You'll hear other things as clearly as you'll hear the music. It's just like having a stereo system on your head. There's other sounds you can hear, too. They have a lower amount of midrange, that's for sure, but the highs are absolutely gorgeous, and the bass is just right. I love these headphones, and it isn't surprising that they've hardly gone down in price since I bought them.
