Summary: Simply The Best
Review: If your ears are already fryed from way too loud heavy metal, hip hop, or electronica, then pass on these phones. You won't be able to hear what the 570's have to offer, anyway. If your ears enjoy the sounds of soul stirring bass, silky smooth midrange, and the most thrilling shrill-free treble one can imagine... then fork over the money for these magnificent headphones. Extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time-- you will find yourself (as I did) sitting for hours on end reaching for CD after CD. Yes, you can spend much more for esoteric designs.. but it takes many, many dollars to top the 570's. Most definitely-- one of the best headphones ever made.. and for the money.. SIMPLY THE BEST. If you have any hearing left at all, you won't be disappointed.

Review: ok, there are reviews out there that react too quickly and emotionally harsh. the best thing about these headphones is the incredible comfort! the next best thing is the sound, the easiest way to describe the sound is that it is more natural. if you need tons of bass for techno, look elsewhere. afterall, these headphones are meant for classical and a more natural and acoustic sound. these headphones are not designed to hold in sound, meaning that these headphones will bother anyone sitting around you. the worst thing about these heaphones, as well as other sennheiser headphones, is that cheap cord! the cord is so easy to damage! if you are active with headphones on and clumsy, the cord will damage with a quick tug. one good thing, and i bet this is why they were designed this way but, the cord has a plug at each end, one for the input and one end that connects to the headphones. this feature, i believe is unique to sennheiser and makes it easy to replace the cord... through the sennheiser website. i have a... pair of sony mdr-v100 that i purchased in 1993 that i should have destoryed the cord on years ago to dancing around, walking with my walkman and letting the cord hang down too far and stepping on over and over, not once have i broken the cord! so, if you sit in a chair, movement free and you have no one around you and you do not like to blast bass heavy music and your not clumsy, buy these sennheisers today! if you are an over critical type, you probably will never find anything good enough anyway so why bother? well, sennheiser does make a [very expensive] pair of heaphones that comes with a tube amp! try that model at [their website]! cheers!

Summary: For [the money] this is not bad at all
Review: Several years ago I bought a Sennheiser 490 for [some money] and I consider that to be a [bad purchase]. A while ago I bought a Sennheiser 570 for [some money], this one is a better choice.The headphone is huge but very light. It is tailored for "symphony" according to the description. Indeed when I use it to listen to classic music I do like its smooth sound. The treble is clear but it is a little dark in the low frequency. For vocals my Grado SR60 does a much better job than the HD570 by presenting a spacious and liquid image. But HD570 is doing fine for classic music due to the smoothness of its sound. If you like relaxed sound then you will like HD570 but if you like warm and openness in sound this probably is not your cup of tea. This cans is not very sensitive so you might need to have an amp to do it justice. Considering spending [money] for a brand new HD570, there really isn't too much to complain about.

Summary: The most comfortable headphones I've owned
Review: After using these for about a year, I must say they are terrific. They incredibly comfortable, with soft padding around the ears, and can be worn easily for hours. Most important, the sound quality is superb. I listen to all kinds of music (mostly classical and alternative rock), and these seem to be able to reproduce anything beautifully. Recently I have even been using them with my portable CD player. On a long trip, especially, they are so much more pleasurable to use than the usual tiny headphones, and also shut out a good bit of train or airplane noise. They also slip fairly easily into the end pocket of a "club" size bag. I've had Sennheiser's before, but these are quite a step up, in my opinion. An excellent product.

Summary: Surprisingly bad set of cans...
Review: I'm a professional sound designer. I spend hours wearing headphones every day. So, when I was looking for a light weight, comfortable set that I could wear for play (not work) after quite a bit of reading I decided to buy the HD570's. But when I got them, I was very surprised that they sounded as bad as they do.
These were to act as my computer gaming 'phones, but during passages (such as thunder) or sudden low end effects (like a heavy door opening) the sound would just splatter and distort quite badly. Not only that, but the mids were muddy and the highs dark. Even more surprising, the HD570's don't sound as good as the low-end Sennheiser open-air phones that I generally use for gaming and which cost about a third as much. On a positive note, the HD570's are very comfortable and can be worn for hours without fatigue. For the time being, I'm using the cans I use for serious sound work, my Fostex T20's, which never distort.
I just wanted something that was a bit lighter and easier to wear for extended game play.

Summary: Great headphones!
Review: I purchased these about 3 weeks ago and I love them. They have great frequency response and are incredible comfortable to wear, they are very light weight, but don't feel cheap. I really like music and having good sound quality is very important to me, these definitely fit the bill. I have used these on my home stereo and they sound almost as good as my home speaker/subwoofer combination, but I primarily use them for listening to music as work or on PC at home. The only comment that I would make it that they don't have very good sound deadening qualities, unlike other headphone I tried, but generally you can just turn the music up!

Review: Impossible to beat for the price. The quality and sound is unparallel, not to mention the comfort (your ears never touch the headset, the cloth housing rest on the outside of your ears) The midrange is just fantastic, lows are solid and highs are a little bright at times (this can be fixed on any good player.) It is questionable if they even need 60 hours of play to be broken in (to achieve maximum performance.) The only noticeable downside is the open speaker design, a person sitting 4 feet away can hear your music at normal listing levels. I doubt they would work on a plane or train, library...... If this not an issue, then this purchase should be a no brainier.

Summary: How I want to go deaf.
Review: I listen to music for hours each day. I have my portable for doing dishes and a surround reciever in both living rooms and my bedroom. I have never heard headphones that could beat the quality of my bedroom speakers. Granted, the system is old but these cans have amazing highs, a lot more bass than I expected, and work reasonably well on my Sony D-MJ95 portable CD player. These are my first open-cup headphones but they are the most comfortable headphones I have ever had. They always sound great, suprising me with highs I have never heard from headphones before. The coolest thing about good headphones is that the sound quality is virtually constant as you increase the volume to the point where you should no longer be exposed to such intense sound. Compared to my old Sony 600's these are phenomenal. The rather cheap construction is offset by the modularity of the parts, which's replacement costs are nominal. Besides, with a two year warranty how can you go wrong? The price for these is more than reasonable, and when I listened to the Sony DJ700's these surpassed them. An unsurpassable deal, unless you want something really robust.
Pluses: Price, sound quality, bass and treble
Deltas (things that could be changed): Construction, the best highs are only obtained with an equalizer (Don't get me wrong, the highs on these are awesome, but I like more of them.), non-folding (but you knew that)

Summary: Good...but not that good
Review: Ok, I ordered these because I am a college student looking for some privacy in what I listen to. Most of the time you hear your neighbor's music more than your own. I thought these would be the answer. However, they weren't. Don't get me wrong, these speakers were a very high quality, and the gave a nice sound. Until I turned the volume up. While not even blaring these things, the sound became fuzzy and very tinny. There was waaaayyy too much treble even at low volumes, and this added to the tinny nature of the headphones. I would be willing to live with this sub par performance, if it weren't for the [$$$] price tag!! I have [$$$] headphones for my discman that work better than these things. I would recommend shopping around, and making sure you are getting what you pay for. As for me, I'm going to get an extender cable for my discman ones, ...

Summary: I will recommend this good headphone.
Review: I am not an audiophile, so my opinion might be only useful to those people who want to buy a pair of good headphone while still within a reasonable price. If you happen to fall into this category, I'd like to share my experience with you and recommend this headphone to you. My comments are as follows:
1. The sound qualitiy of HD570, though very good, is perhaps not so good as you might imagine. I only use several pairs cheap headphone before HD570, which include one Philips, one Samsung headphone along with the protable cd player and Yepp mp3 player. Of course, the sound quality of HD570 is much better than that of the headphones I just mentioned, but the performance can't surprise me.
2. HD570 can be used on portable players very well, at least on my Philips Jogproof cd player and Samsung Yepp Mp3 player, of course you need to turn up the volume a bit than in the case when you use a common headphone.
3. The open air design of HD570 does increase the space of sound you hear, but it will also incur some noise: because other people sitting close to you can hear the sound from the headphone. But the noise is in the acceptable level.
4. Overall speaking, HD570 is a very good headphone. Before I bought HD570, my friend recommend me to get HD580 or HD600. I believe those models should sound better than HD570 but also costs much more. For ... price level, I think HD570 performs very well and meet my expectation. Although I don't have much experience in the headphone field, I still think HD570 deserves the recommendation.
