Description:

Designed for use in either a home theater or business setting, the brilliant ViewSonic VPW505 50-inch plasma HDTV offers ultra-wide viewing angles so it can easily be seen from wherever your audience is sitting, a built-in NTSC (North America/Japan) TV tuner, and the ability to serve as a computer monitor. The unit's widescreen (16:9) dimensions are perfect for viewing DVDs and widescreen TV broadcasts in their native aspect ratios, and it's ready to display HDTV straight out of the box. It features built-in speakers and BBE sound maximizer surround-sound capability when connected to a compatible audio/video receiver and speaker system.

The VPW505 features NextVision technology for tremendous clarity, with a high contrast resolution of 550:1 and high brightness level. Its 3:2 pulldown capability means that the display reassembles the frame sequence of your original film-based content from DVDs to more accurately reproduce the original 24-frame-per-second material, and it uses progressive scan to produce a high-quality image. The unit packs a native resolution of 1366 x 768 with HDTV resolution of 1080i (interlaced) lines or 720p (progressive, or noninterlaced) lines. In addition to the built-in NTSC tuner, the VPW505 can also display PAL, SECAM, and NTSC 4.43 programming when connected to an appropriate video source.

A single panel of AV inputs features an RF coaxial video jack for connecting the display to a VCR, cable signal or antenna, DVI digital video for connection to a computer (PC or Macintosh), two types of component-video inputs (YCbCr or YPbPr) for DVD connection, S-Video input also for connecting a DVD or SVHS player, and a composite (RCA) video connection for connecting to a VCR or other input. Its multiple TV and video inputs let you connect the display to such inputs as a DVD player, VCR, cable TV, and a PC or Macintosh computer. In addition, its advanced picture-in-picture and split-screen capabilities mean you can simultaneously watch TV while working on the computer, or display a stock ticker from one TV channel across the bottom of the screen while watching another channel or video.

The VPW505 features a full-featured remote control. OnView onscreen display gives you total control over the unit, including a parental code with V-Chip technology to maintain control over what the kids watch. The unit comes with a stand, but optional mounting kits are available to allow the display to be flush- or tilt-mounted on a wall or ceiling.
